AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. — An Air Force falcon named Aurora is expected to make a full recovery from injuries she suffered at West Point during a prank before the annual football game between the service academies.

The 22-year-old bird remains on antibiotics and won’t attend Air Force’s home game against New Mexico on Saturday, according to the school. The anticipation is she will be in attendance on Nov. 22 when the Falcons host Colorado State.

I’m still shaking my head over this idiotic prank.

I’m glad she is gonna be ok. According to the previous post on the mascots, the AF has other birds (?) either in training or back up. Kinda wonder, who’s gonna get the worst punishment, The Army Kay dettes that did stupid stuff, or the Air Force numb nuts who should have been guarding their Mascot better? A prank is one thing, endangering a semi defenceless animal is another. Just my $.02, YMMV

There seems to be a custom of mascot related pranks between the academies.

Animal abuse is childish and conduct unbecoming. Announce that taking a critter is stealing, put it under honor code, and move on.

… does not lie, cheat, nor steal, nor tolerate…

Those West Point cadets need to take a peek at how MIT does pranks…first rule of MIT pranking, do no harm, second rule make some really cool fucking pranks….

Some of the more memorable, putting a shell of a police cruiser on top of the dome of a building, slipping a regular cafeteria tray and its contents into a Modern Art Exhibit at a Boston Museum and having it seen as actual art by the arrogant prisses of the art crowd…and one thing common to all of those pranks? No defenseless animals or stupid humans injured.

I hope this doesn’t seem insensitive, but Gyrfalcon Stew is such a treat, I couldn’t help but share:

Combine the meat of two Gyrfalcons with mushrooms, onion, carrots and stock in a large saucepan over medium heat. Simmer until carrots are tender, about 10 minutes. Stir in sage, basil, garlic salt, parsley, mixed vegetables, potatoes and celery and cook until heated through. Stir in flour to thicken sauce, then serve.

For a larger crowd add 2 haunches of middiegoat (cubed sized). Drop a mule shoe in pot to test sauce thickness; if shoe sinks, it ain’t quite ready. Middie goat should be on sale after 8 Dec, they’ll be an excess from the slaughter.
