Marines come running to help after fire breaks out at DC senior building
Marines stationed at The Marine Barracks at 8th & I in Washington, D.C., ran to the smoke and fire at a senior citizen facility yesterday. There they assisted local EMS to evacuate the burning structure. Bravo Zulu, Marines, simply outstanding.
“Marines rushed into the building to rescue those who needed assistance and evacuated residents to the Marine Barracks Washington Annex where they were checked and treated for any injuries and sheltered until their loved ones arrived,” Marine Barracks Washington 8th & I said in a statement on Facebook.

“fire breaks out at DC senior building”
There was a fire in the Capital building? Or are there other buildings besides Congress full of old people that are on assisted living?
That’s how you get the Marines to come to your house?
I did not know that.
I thought you only had to let them know you were having a party, and they can come if they bring a dish to pass and their own meat.
Been rumored that a good cold stout, jug of Basil Haydin, a lovey Russian, fuzzy robe, or sausage gravy will bring them in also. Semper Fi Devil Dogs!
Great job Marines and on a side note, from what I saw on the videos, the fire started in the attic and was burning for awhile hence the fire through the roof as the first due units were arriving on the scene. Burning roof debris and the attic floor burned through the flooring initiating fire extension into the top floor. If the fire started on the top floor and was burning for awhile, the fire apartment window/windows most likely would have had fire showing out of one of the 4 building’s exposure sides on arrival of the first due units and since the video is in 2 dimension, I could not make a 360 degree walk around size up and ascertain fire conditions.
But I was told service members are trained killers and a danger to the public.
These “saving the world stories” need much wider distribution. They go a long way towards showing the public the truth about military service and the valued citizens that it creates. Kudos to the Marines that day and thank you for making the entire veteran community proud.
The other night I saw documentary on the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon. I saw the same thing. People who had escaped were running back toward the fire to render aid to the injured. Members of all services saw a need and rushed to help.
Marines going and doing heroic shit and all that, running towards danger.
It must be in there genes.
It’s like they have an extra chromosome or something.
That’s how you tell the substance of a person’s heart, regardless of whether or not they’re a service member:
When danger happens, look for those people running towards it.
