Taking a knee is not tolerated … unless you pull the race card while doing it.
There must be greater minds than mine out there who can explain when it is acceptable to take a knee. Personally, I think to make a spectacle out of yourself is little more than a cry for attention in any case. Coach could have taken a knee before coming onto the field or he could have done it quietly on the sidelines. “Oh Look At Me” displays do not impress me but fair is fair. I do not think this Coach believes in his cause any less than Kapperdick believes in his. One is chastised and one is revered.

Tim Tebow was laughed at for praying during games as well because he took a knee.
They might claim they were laughing because he sucks, but no, it was because of his faith. Perfectly acceptable to take a knee for “victim causes”.
Much less, there is a rule in place that disallows that type of behaviour now. While originally, I do believe this was because of Tebows religious convictions; not just any convictions. However, They have penalized a Muslim player(Husain Abdullah) for “Religious acts on the football pitch.”
Needless, The NFL is full of hypocritical shites.
Cheers,
MrFace
Abdullah was not penalized for praying. He was penalized for “going to the ground in celebration.”
The NFL later said that the penalty was a misapplication of the rules which allowed for religious acts on the playing field, even if that meant “going to the ground.”
After Tebow came along, the NFL made the rule prohibiting prayers on the playing field, but allowed them on the sidelines.
When Tebow was playing, one of the biggest assclowns that rode him on his praying after a game was Mike Florio (he runs the Pro Football Talk website for NBC and is on Sunday Night Football). He’s another SJW cuck, just like the ones on ESPN…
Was it that long ago that taking a knee was showing humility? Folks used to take a knee before royalty, when proposing marriage, to pray, and assorted other situations where it was appropriate to show their respect for something or someone. Count me among those initially confused about the current “taking a knee” debacle simply because it looks very odd to claim to be disrespecting the flag/anthem while kneeling before it – a gesture much more reverential than standing for the anthem.
Ludicrous.
I thought ‘taking a knee’ meant dropping so that the ranks behind the front line could do the shoot-shoot-bang-bang thing while the front ranks reloaded their muskets. Must have been a different century.
Here’s a good example of “taking a knee” – about 1.5 minutes in.

Tebow took a knee in gratitude, and was excoriated; Kaepernick takes a knee in protest and is lauded. Nothing to see here, Citizen. Move along.
It is really a shame when they worship thugs and killers, but make fun of someone showing their faith. Tebow was a great player that never got a fair shake because of the display of his faith. I pray this coach gets his job back and sues their ass for a few million bucks!
I saw on the news this morning that Crapperdick’s lawyer says he may make a grand reentry into the NFL. I’m not holding my breath for the news he promised next week, whatever it may be… cause either way I won’t be watching the NFL.
And the Browns finally won a game, so anything is possible.
Ba boom pshh!!
Dilly Dilly!
First, it’s none other than that jackwagon sister humping assclown Mark Geragos making the claim.
Second, he’s claiming he’ll be signed by the PATRIOTS. The fucking Pats. Uh, no. Neither Kraft, Belichick, nor Brady would put up with that attention grabbing bullshit.
Third, Pats fans would lose their shit over it. I’ve heard from several and not one thinks it’s a good idea.
Fuck Kaepernick. Lemme know when he has REALLY sacrificed something.
The Pats already have Josh Gordon to deal with… Belichick won’t have the patience to deal with another “problem child/cancer” in the locker room
Returning to the NFL as? Can’t quite decide. Was he a third-rate second-string QB or a second-rate third-stringer?
Amen!
I long for the days of Tonya Harding when taking a knee meant taking a fucking knee….
rofl, did not see that coming, but then neither did Nancy Kerrigan.
I’ll let that comment skate by.
You owe me a beer, a bottle of Windex and some paper towels.
Damn all 3 of y’all. Got to laughing so hard I hit the scroller thingy and put my Like (+_+) button doohickey out of sequence. Thanks, I needed it.
People just lack that sense of commitment to their cause these days.
We’ll see what the rest of the day brings but, as of now, you’re on top. Funny as hell.
This is why I love this place….some other boards folks would be all upset I made this comment…here it’s all good fun…
Tanya lives in my AO… trying to live the life of a good citizen and to rehab her image.
In my mind, she’ll still be flinging hubcaps at a boyfriend or driving off a icy road and cussing out the press.
ROTFLMAO!!!!!! Just snorted Diet Pepsi out of my nose too. Thanks VOV, it was worth the awful sting.
I thought taking a knee was just something you do on the long hike through the woods with a heavy pack, to get a breather and reorient yourself! Or when you are conducting SLLS (Stop, Look, Listen, Smell) when you first get in a new area…RLTW!
Or when you’re giving instructions to your troops.
“First rank, take a knee.”
Jesus, with a little help from Nick Saban, made Alabama football a dynasty. Roll Tide Roll! Amen.
I was born and raised Catholic and was taught to “take a knee” in church in respect.
In my military time, myself & others “took a knee” before going out on a CA as the chaplain said a prayer over us.
We “took a knee” when our brothers in arms died.
Hokey as it may have seemed, I “took a knee” when I proposed to my now ex-wife.
I still “take a knee” when it is appropriate for reverence & respect.
The people who “take a knee” out of disrespect towards this nation and it’s flag should just be “kneed”.
Former NFL player & Army vet, Rocky Blier gets it.

Every day that Congress meets, the session begins with:
A. The Star-Spangled Banner
B. The previous day’s sports scores
C. A prayer
D. A recital of the Preamble to the US Constitution
If you answered C, you are correct. God is invoked every single day that Congress meets. Imagine that. The horror.
I’d be ok if they did all of the above, sequenced A, C, D, B.
“God is invoked every single day that Congress meets”
They need all the help they can get.
Even though I’m a godless heathen I have read the literature rather extensively and I am reminded after reading your post of this from Matthew:
And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
Pretty sure they pray to pretend they have some morality, their actions each day often point to a different reality. Perhaps they think they can fool us into thinking they are godly men and women when they are really nothing more than liars and thieves for the most part.
I’ve often thought the same thing, VOV. Prayer is supposed to be a conversation between you and your choice of deity, not a public display of affection. I’ve known far too many folks of varying religions that like to put spiritual quotes at the signature of their emails, publicly praise the Lord, and would not hesitate to screw you in the ass to get ahead. I have zero tolerance for hypocrisy in any form.
SFC D….why do you assume that is their reason? You assume WRONG. It is to remind folks that Jesus sacrificed his life for all of us and we need to show our gratitude by thanking him and accepting him…..!
I did not assume anything. I knew these people well. They would read scripture over you while fucking you in the ass, throw anyone under the bus to get ahead, climb to the top by stacking bodies. I did not generalize. 2 of them retired at E9. Hypocrites. Phony cocksuckers.
In 21st Century vernacular, that’s called “virtue signalling,” and widely practiced by liberal hypocrites.
My point was only to spotlight that, contrary to a popular mistaken notion, public prayer is not necessarily taboo in a gov’t place or among gov’t officials while in the performance of their jobs. It certainly was not to suggest that prayer means piety. Congress is the best example of the former and the worst example of the latter.
V.O.V. I doubt you are a Godless heathen if you have read the Bible, it maybe that you only need to ask Jesus into your heart and life! as for taking a knee…we will ALL take a knee, then two, then prone when we appear before Jesus!
What color was he/she? said no military person ever on funeral detail.
^this^ We might of worn green or blue or white, but we all bled red.
The sad fact is that school district are scared to death of lawsuits. They will hang first graders from a clothesline if it means avoiding one. I guarantee that 95% or more of the country’s grade school and high school administrators could not pass a 10-question test on prayer in school. And I’m being generous with that estimate of 95%.
You can pray or not pray. You can believe or not believe. I personally do believe and have and do pray. Have seen prayer work. DO NOT disrespect toward the Flag of my Country, or to my Brothers and Sisters who stood shoulder to shoulder to defend your right to be a complete and total ass hole. You are being paid mega bucks to PLAY a GAME. You are not a hero, and when your tour of duty ends, (when the final whistle blows) you will go to a climate controlled room, soaking bath, real good meal, and a “comfort person” to relieve your stress. And if you are injured playing your game, you will have 1st class medical care. Bite me. Grow up, quit your whining, and find some body else to watch your “game.” If you did not wear the uniform of the warrior, you are not even qualified to sniff the cod sack or floss with the pubes there of.
It should be tolerated because it is constitutionally protected free speech.
They are pulling the race card because it is about race. Specifically the unequal treatment of blacks by law enforcement in the US.
It should be noted that kneeling is the most respectful way I can imagine protesting the flag.
It too should be noted that the person that recommended that Kapaernick kneel was Nate Boyer, a former NFL player and U.S. Army special forces veteran (“Green Beret”). Boyer recommended it because it was an act of respect while still expressing regret and sorrow for the state of our nation.
It should also be noted that kneeling has been a universal sign of respect in human society for hundreds of thousands of years. It has also been a symbol of regret and sorrow.
It is fair to say you do not agree blacks are mistreated or treated unfairly by law enforcement. You would be wrong but I would not think you were intentionally full of shit when saying you think that.
But to claim kneeling is a sign of disrespect is bullshit. Tearing up the flag, burning the flag, throwing it in the dirt, wiping your ass with it, using it as an area rug: these are all constitutionally protected forms as asshole behavior and protest.
And they are all disrespectful of the flag.
Kneeling is not disrespectful of the flag.
It is a sign of respect, sorrow, submission, and protest; all at the same time. But not disrespect.
Protesting the United States, the U.S. government, its institutions, or its symbols is not disrespecting them.
If it were we would not be a free country.
Only authoritarian countries demand respect of their symbols.
Well said.
It’s the Boulder Bigot chiming in…
Yes, it is constitutionally protected free speech. That does not mean I have to accept, agree with, like, or condone the action. I also have that right, as do you. I will now exercise that right by telling you that you do not have the right to tell anyone their opinion is wrong. I will now exercise my rights under the 1st amendment by telling you to kindly fuck off.
“Yes, it is constitutionally protected free speech.” If I take a knee in the middle of a business meeting and am fired for that, do I have a case of denial of my Constitutional rights under the 1st A? Hell no, even if the gov’t is my employer.
Here’s the thing. The gov’t–in its many forms, levels, and branches– is Constitutionally prohibited from infringing on our right to exercise free speech. That’s it. The Constitution has no say-so in what one’s employer prohibits in the workplace, including speech. The NFL is the employers and the playing field the workplace.
Is that the shit they teach you there at UC Berzerkely? Where were all of those spoiled little shits during the off season?
“Only authoritarian
countriespolitical parties demand respect of their symbols”FIFY, Commissar…
Unequal treatment of blacks?
Oh, please explain…(breaks out popcorn and beer)
Statistically speaking, 61% of crime comes from just 6% of the population from a specific ethnic group. The “unequal” treatment is actually that more Black criminals are not shot.
Standing next to a statue of Martin Luther King and acting like you are pissing on it is protected speech. Doing it to raise awareness about prostate cancer is just silly. It is also disrespectful, particularly to a specific group of Americans.
Taking a knee during the Anthem regardless of where or when it is played is disrespectful, particularly to a certain segment of the American population. Doing it to bring awareness to a demonstrably false cause is not just silly, it’s beyond ignorant.
I appreciate your post, people have a right to free expression. I find it disrespectful to take a knee during the anthem. I reserve my right to voice my opinion of the scum and punk thug trash that does it and/or supports it.
“It should be tolerated because it is constitutionally protected free speech”
Protected yes.
Should be tolerated. NO. And there is no law that compells that. Act up, vote, make signs, start a really cool blog like Jonn but tolerate?
Fuck no.
Cool, so it’s not disrespectful because you said so.
I think I’ll come by your house and take a shit on your kitchen floor. Don’t worry, it’s not disrespectful to you or your family or your home or the work/time/money you’ve put into maintaining or renewing your kitchen floor, because I said so, and you cannot argue with me otherwise hatespeech. I’m just trying bringing a big problem to the forefront of the community discussion by respectfully taking a shit on your floor.
You probably dont even KNOW how badly corrupt
the plumbers unions are in this country, and since you can’t refute my claim that they are, that means I’m right about them and therefore justified in making my statement, and thus my shitting on your floor is the obvious course of action. Because it’s actually respectful. In fact, your reluctance to accept everything I’m saying at face value proves to me that you’re just another hate-filled member of the alt-Center.
Fuck outta here with your shit. If we say it’s disrespectful, don’t pretend like you know better. It’s fuckin disrespectful, childish, stupid and poorly thought out. Free speech works both ways, Chief. In the marketplace of ideas, we get to call out stupid, childish, poorly thought-out and disrespectful as—well, disrespectful, stupid, childish and poorly thought-out. CK and Nike are experiencing that other direction of traffic on the aforementioned two-way street, and deservedly so.
Is Congress passing some law that I’m unaware of making anything CK is doing a crime? No? Then his freedom of speech isn’t being infringed. Is he getting some backlash and severe criticism from citizens of this country who see his acts as stupid, disrespectful, childish, and poorly thought-out? Well that’s because the rest of the country ALSO has freedom of speech and a shitload of people find his actions disrespectful.
Nice, 11B4V. In fact, I loved it. Come back more often and, if you’re a lurker, lurk no more.
One would assume that you squatted to take your dump, which by Ctulips reasoning could be construed as a demonstration of your respect.
I think he just opens the bay and pushes a button or something.
Yes, we have protected free speech in America. What you are not free from is the consequences of you exercising that right. If you get shunned, yelled at, blow a job opportunity, boycotted, or caricatured in the comics is just the price you have to pay. Adults know that….
To clarify; I am not claiming an employer does not have the right to fire someone for their otherwise constitutionally protected speech.
They do. With a few exceptions.
The constitution protects your speech from the government and its agents. Not from your employer.
NFL took the actions it choose to take and it is paying a cost on both sides of the political aisle since it somehow managed to piss everyone off over this.
My statements were not intended to argue that the NFL did not have the right to do what it did (blacklisting him is another matter and they will likely lose that lawsuit).
My statements were only intended to argue that it is not disrespectful to kneel as a protest.
It is not disrespectful the the flag, not to the country, and not to the government.
And if individual Americans want to decide to feel disrespected it is their choice to do so. They are CHOOSING to feel that way. Because there is nothing in the universal symbol of kneeling that conveys disrespect.
OH, you are such a consistently fucking asshole, beakface.
The Announcer will always say: PLEASE STAND FOR THE NATIONAL ANTHEM.
Refusing to stand when the refuser does NOT have a disability shows not just bad manners but also a complete lack of respect.
You are now, always have been and always will be a lambrained, dimwitted, boring, waste of the 8.25 minutes it took your mother and father to fertilize the egg.
You should REALLY try to do a better job of hiding your tracks, you idiot.
Nothing you say has any validity.
I’ll use small words and speak slowly:
You do not get to decide what is or is not disrespectful for anyone but yourself. Your 1st amendment rights do not allow you to tell me what I find disrespectful.
Now. Kindly fuck off.
Also, feeling disrespected or being outraged over someone kneeling during the national anthem is classic “snowflake” behavior.
So shut up and crawl back into your bookpack, beakface, you boring, dried-up orange peel.
Oh noes. You called us snowflakes. Don’t belittle our beliefs and resort to name calling because your argument is misguided, infantile, and moronic.
I need a safe space, play-do, and a puppy. No, strike that. I need range time and Jameson’s.
People like Cuntholio can’t even think up their own insults. The have to pull a Joe Biden and plagiarize one.
squiggy’s Domme cut xer off again. Xhe has to find abuse -somewhere- …
Cthulhu…whatever the hell that stupid name is….you haven’t a freaking clue….Blacks are killing Blacks…look at the chicago statistics…these morons in the NFL are just looking for attention…! they got it! no one I know watches their childish antics anymore!
“It should be tolerated because it is constitutionally protected free speech.” Once again, you lead with a false statement. Do you ever do otherwise? Taking a knee as it applies here refers to taking a knee in pig-sock wearing Krapernick fashion, on an NFL football field. If the NFL banned kneeling and actually enforced that ban, the Constitution would not be offended because the 1st A does not apply to that circumstance. Additionally, it does not follow that because speech is deemed to be Constitutionally protected that it must, or should, be tolerated other than by a government, Federal, state, or local. Cripes, Shana. You are a dolt.
“It should be noted that…”
“It too should be noted that the person…”
“It should also be noted that kneeling…”
It is noted that you write like a 10-cent petty bureaucrat. When do you start working “as per” into your messes?
AirCav, you never cease to give me a giggle.
I admire your restraint, too.
Bureaucrats write the way they do so they convey what they are trying to say in a way that comes of as professional, emotionally measured, and does make the write sound like an asshole.
All things I am working on.
You should too.
It would be REALLY, REALLY great if you’d learn to use correct grammar, punctuation and spelling, beakface.
You’re still as boring and dimwitted as you were six months ago.
Cav, anytime a comment evokes a “Well said,” response from Joe…
Zactly, PT. An endorsement from Joe is something no decent and reasonable person wants…ever.
I’d take a “well said” response from Joe the bigot as an insult.
Reminds me of a tour of an old mansion I took one time. The tour guide said, literally in every room, “one thing I’d like to point out is the pineapple.” Cause there was a pineapple (sign of good luck she claims) hidden. In every freaking room. It was a big mansion.
I am not talking about what the NFL as an employer has a right to do.
I am talking about the notion of our society in general “tolerating” people who kneel during the national anthem.
You keep using that word, “tolerating “. I do not think it means what you think it means.
It does not mean acceptance or approval. For example, you are tolerated at TAH.
Ziiinnnggg!!!
You fired Expert today, SFC.
Splat!
Heh. I’ve already had one request to un-tolerate him.
No. We need a chew toy.
And as a couple of posters have noted recently, we don’t want to become an echo chamber. 🙄
Personally, I like coming to a place where everyone thinks and acts like they enjoy this country and want to see it succeed for generations.
I want to learn more about tolerance.
Today I learned that one form of displaying respect for Old Glory is to take a knee when she is presented. I’m going to try it about 7:30 this evening at a local high school football game. I can tell you right now that I’ll miss the kick off. About 7:35 I’ll be in a heap under the bleachers with the living shit kicked out of me.
No fear, Cav. A new chew toy, exactly what I said.
The Marxism reeks like dead rats with this one.
I found this priceless in-your-face act worth posting here.
Yes indeed, besides that, taking a knee is NOT SPEECH, you freaking dimwit Cthulhu! go back wherever you came from, you don’t belong here, or probably ANYWHERE for that matter! imo
“Taking a knee” Irish style usually involves hollowpoints. So we’ll know them by their limping.
There are only four times when a man can Take a Knee. When praying to his deity. Proposing marriage. Lining up a long rifle shot. Tying his shoes after age 70. All others are posing and he should suffer for them. .
Tying shoes after age 70 involves sitting in a chair with a footstool in front of you, hoping that your girth will not squish the air out of your lungs.
This does not apply to me, as my girth has receded substantially in recent years, but it does apply elsewhere.
It also involes a dressing stick and sock pull-her-on-er.
Ex, that was one of the few benefits of the cancer induced 75 pound weight loss; I now can tie my shoes without stretch, strain or a single sibilant son-of-bitch!
PT. Get rid of that shit. I’ll buy you a pair of loafers.
I am glad that you lost that extra poundage, but concerned about your nutrition status, Poe. I would love to send you a pizza, but I know it’s a mais-non for the time being.
Hang in there.
Wrong about tying shoes after age 70…..we buy slip on’s, mules, or clogs LOL
The ultimate in “taking a knee”…
Monica Lewinsky
The turning point which saved Reagan’s campaign. He had been beaten badly in the Iowa caucuses, and needed a win in New Hampshire or else his chance at the White House was dead, or at least in serious jeopardy, and Bush the elder would have won the 1980 GOP nomination.
That man ensured I had a high paying engineering job in the defense industry
upon graduation.
Smart kids today would do well to get behind Trump and defense spending. It raises all skilled workers across the spectrum and allows one to retire in comfort.
Oh, and it helps to have served. Especially when in meetings with AD types as a civilian.
Cuttlefish, would it surprise you that the NFL has rules on things like player and non-player conduct during and after a game? The document is some 80 pages in length. If Goodall had a pair and slapped on one more rule for conduct during the playing of the National Anthem, and made it stick, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. The idea of ‘taking a knee’ is protected speech is ludicrous.
To be fair, if the NFL can’t keep them from smoking weed, snorting coke, and beating their wives/children by a code of conduct, then I don’t expect them to be able to handle this.
You left out murder (Aaron Hernadez).
Ray Lewis….
Rae Carruth…
And possibly that guy whose hand wouldn’t go in the glove?
I forget his name…
We get the point… stop stabbing in the dark.
I’m sure that remark cut him to the bone.
e.conboy…yeh, that glove crap was all lawyer bullshyt! soak a leather glove in “anything” water, blood, anything and it will SHRINK! amazes me no one picked up on that in the trial..guess lawyers, liars that they are, all stick together, must have been enough money to go all around? imo
Come on, Mason. You describe criminal activities, not NFL rule violations. Bit of a difference, yes?
Hard to play football when one is in the slam.
After players score a touchdown, some of them point to the sky to symbolize that God gets the glory for their accomplishments.
I wonder how long it will be before they throw a flag for that?
There might be less of that anthem-protest crap if everyone keeps saying “Look! The’re doing the Tebow!”
I would like to see a photo of CK taking a knee while our zoomies do a flyover with everyone pointing towards the sky and cheering. Put it on the Jumbotron.
Many Americans confuse speech and free speech. Speech is speech whether spoken or written. Speech also includes gestures and symbols. Extending a middle finger to your boss is an exercise in speech. So, too, is telling him to take a flying leap at a rolling donut. Either may get you fired and, if that happens, the Constitution won’t help you. Free speech, on the other hand, is a term of art that describes speech that is protected from government quashing or censorship. I wish more people in this land would make the distinction between speech and free speech. It certainly would help discussion of krapernicking, among other things.
