Reporter Being A Little Dramatic During Hurricane Florence
Time to lighten the mood. A courageous Weather Channel reporter braves the elements to bring YOU, dear viewer, the skinny on Hurricane Flo, swaying in gale-force winds. How dramatic!
But wait. All is not as it seems! Just before the 30 second point…
You go, gale-boy!
Category: "Teh Stoopid"
One of my favorites;
Thinking the same, G. Ooops, busted!
What a pathetic shytbird! I would fire that phony a.h. so fast, he would think the wind got him!!!
Can’t forget this gem:
Love it, Mason! Why do these liars think they can get away with their fake news? Trapped inside their own bubble?
Because they are narcissistic VERMIN!
Vermin? You are verminphobic?
You naughty fellow, you!!!!
And they say there is no such thing as fake news. Didn’t Randolph Hearst start that whole “yellow journalism” thing? Attention whoring that can now live forever thanks to you tube and google.
It’s those moments which make them look ridiculous that make life worth living.
I keep hoping that some day, an elephant will drop something, something wet and stinky, on a reporter at just that right moment….
What? I can dream, can’t I?
He’s a laughingstock now and he’s probably blaming the cameraman for getting the strollers in the shot. Is this fake news? Yes, because his feigned bracing against the wind deliberately conveys a false message. I get that the Weather Channel and local news love storms b/c their viewer ship rises but, really, enough is enough. If death and destruction aren’t alone sufficient to later report about, then something is seriously amiss. Funny thing is that the folks who need those reports aren’t watching. Virtually all either evacuated or, if not, have no power to watch the idiocy.
What’s worse is the network has doubled down on the stoopid.
“It’s important to note that the two individuals in the background are walking on concrete, and Mike Seidel is trying to maintain his footing on wet grass, after reporting on-air until 1:00 a.m. ET this morning and is undoubtedly exhausted,” the network said in a statement.
He’s like 12 inches from concrete. If he’s having so much trouble standing on the grass, then he should move. Utter bullshit.
Yeah, but it’s all based on a true story.
Aren’t you at least glad he survived?
There’s another one of Anderson Cooper in a ditch cropped to look like deep water. I’ll post if I can find it again.
I found. It’s a riot. It’s a shot of him standing waist high in water while some TV crew guy is standing maybe 8 feet away with the water just above his ankles.
I didn’t watch much (maybe 10 mins total) of the Hurricane Flo-tsam coverage but I heard some weather channel chick say to avoid standing water because there might be a sink hole under the surface that can’t be seen. I could make this shit up but who would believe me? Invisible drainage. I guess sort like this:
That’s not a sinkhole, its the outlet of a lake into turbines for power!!
“Battleship” on the tube. ‘Way more believable.
Literally can’t watch any news any more. It’s all fake news.
I believe it watching the guy bracing against the wind. Possibly a positive ventilation fan borrowed from the Fire Dept.blowing on him for the wind effect and the canoe deal. Hey what TV commercial had that saying “Do you canoe” was it for a cologne?
Yep – Canoe Cologne for Men. Was popular in the 60s and early 70s; believe the manufacturer was a firm named “Dana”. Some of their old ads are available on Youtube (Google “youtube do you canoe commercial”, without the quotes).
Once heard an uncle of mine say that it smelled like something you’d find in a cheap New Orleans whorehouse. As I recall, it did smell somewhat “girlie” for a man’s cologne. (smile)
The guy looks like he’s struggling with the wind. Then you have the folk in the background walking with no problems.
Is anyone surprised at the quantity of fake news any more? The so called news is really just entertainment and commentary dressed up as reporting. The 24-hour news cycle has destroyed the legitimate news business.
No, Mason, no! There is a Silver Star citation in the works for this man replete with a “V” on it. Sometimes a Silver Star in and of itself is not enough.
We have come to the point in our society where the brave media who are saving our democracy must be awarded such distinctions.
Ask them and they will tell you the truth.
True. The same people who claim an inalienable right to savagely berate the president then claim the president has no right to question them.
Love the blown over (sure they were) barricades.
Good catch. Looks like from the way they’re positioned, the wind (I guess that would be Hank, the sound man) blew one in the opposite direction of the other.
A former Clinton Staffer and future spokesperson for All-Points Logistics!
Call him Ted
Bus Ted
Herein lies a problem. We look to media for honest information, especially during a storm. This ‘reporter’ lied, in action and word. How can we trust anything they say?
You CAN’T trust anything they say!!
Worthy of Baghdad Bob
This is hilarious. Definitely mad me chuckle. Good post.
I’ve never understood why it’s necessary to have a weather-person in front of a camera during a hurricane or blizzard. As if them being out in the elements adds any sort of context or insight to rain, wind, and flooding. Why can’t they just post cameras around town that are set up for 24/7 live feeds? It would be just as effective.
Also, I love how they warn citizens not to be out and about, yet they are out in the very weather they warn against. As if they are some sort of weather-proof ninjas.
Well, shit, Pete. Even a blind chipmunk finds the occasional acorn. Thanks.
*grin*
Hey, I’m not an asshole all of the time 😀
Which is why most of your comments on the McRaven post are still resident.
Not only weather persons, now they send news anchors to stand out in the rain and, basically say, “it’s raining here, now back to the studio”. I saw a photo of Lester Dolt from NBC doing just that.
Jeff Glor of CBS was pissed when the audio feed failed twice as he was getting soaked. At one point he just walked off.
Standing out in a storm, with a microphone, started with Dan Rather. Turns out that he and Mike Seidel have about the same credibility.
The Weather Channel started off as a legitimate meteorology outlet. Then they/it was sold to some loons. At least, Ted Turner had nothing to do with it.
Such has become the nature of broadcast media, deception, vacuousness, and ready availablity, all the time, to dullards with such an interest.
Thanks for the background on the stupidity of standing in the rain. Somehow it doesn’t surprise me that it was Dan Blather who started it all.
Is it odd that I would like to see a perfect example of why people shouldn’t be out in the elements fall upon one of these reporters?? Maybe then all the others would heed the warning? Hey, a guy can dream.
Here you go Pete:

You’re welcome. 🙂
(yeah, it’s fake. But still oddly satisfying.)
Fake or not, that was great! Thanks for sharing.
Those who stand in the rain also serve.
Given the media blamed Trump for a Cat 5 because he inherited Bush’s hurricane machine used for Katrina, will they give him credit for but a Cat 1?
Has anyone seen The Mothership?
I’m not certain but I do know I’ve from the moon of Ganymede.
Have you noticed that none of these reporters ever meet the ultimate fate they claim is going around them all?
At least in the movie “Storm Troopers” the media guy meets the fate of those he’s reporting on.
On a somewhat serious note: anyone heard firsthand reports from people in the Bragg/Lejune areas yet? Google Maps shows massive highway closures in those areas, and the NHC site still shows them at high risk for flash flooding.
Given our readership, I know we have commenters and/or relatives of same in both areas. So posting any reports you’ve received might be appreciated by many.
Just heard from a buddy who is riding out the storm in the Camp Lejeune area who says that it’s still raining heavily and they’re still without power as of this morning. Not much SA yet on how much damage has been caused throughout the Camp Lejeune area, but they’re expecting that it’ll be extensive and very bad.
Another buddy who is riding it out in the Fort Bragg area says that it’s still raining heavily this morning, but their power came back on yesterday evening and currently remains on. Again, not much SA yet on conditions throughout the area.
Hope this helps.
Yes, Mick, but does plumbing in the bathrooms work?
That’s more important than anything else.
They didn’t say.
At this point, they’re just happy that their homes/roofs are still intact.
Wilmington and frequent the Camp Lejeune area 45 min up the road. It’s bad here. Especially up the road in places like New Bern and the rest of Craven, Dare, and Hyde county.
Unfortunately, I got stuck in another state while my family has been toughing things out in our house in Wilmington. I’ll take all the prayers I can get to keep this thing moving and get the rain out of here. Streets are flooded everywhere and the water is getting dangerously close to a lot of houses, and some houses are already flooded.
Weather Channel has doubled down on their stance that the reporter was indeed in danger of being blown away.
In an unrelated story, the cameraman who filmed the 2 guys strolling has been fired.
Formula:
Tell a lie. Repeat it often. When attacked for lie telling, offer an explanation that seems plausible in order to create doubt. Repeat lie.
Stolen Valor weatherman style. Pussy!
Word on the street is the two dudes walking around behind him were looking for a local “gentlemen’s club” with the moniker of “Booty Bay” ( a known house of ill repute, filled with ladies of “low virtue”).
I wouldn’t put anything behind these desperate souls nowadays. Anderson Cooper, now scamming for CNN, got himself down in a ditch with water up to his waist, so that it would look as if he’s in a flooded area, while his camera are up on land with water up to their ankles – if that.
The only I really appreciate for engaging in Da Stoopid is a tornado chaser Reed Timmer, who has a habit of putting himself and his crew in real harm’s way by getting right in the vicinity of tornadoes and also going out in snowstorms when there is thundersnow going on.
Anyone besides me see the video of the reporter in a canoe when two guys walked past her in ankle-deep water? If only a big ol’ snapper had crawled into her canoe for safety in the storm.
Hope for the best outcome, always, in every case.
They are going to let us back in at noon today, Yeaaaaa!!!
This storm is bigger than I thought.
Ha! That reminds me: I heard one of the ESPN analysts on the Alabama vs Ole Miss game state that, “Hawaii has a population of only 1.5 Billion.” When speaking of the two QBs in the game who are from the island.
The comment section on the Buzzfeed link to the drama queen weather dude is hilarious and is worth a read all in itself. Comments like “ he couldnt move over to the concrete because a family was having a picnic” is just one among many I remember. The Today Show nitwits seemed genuinely disappointed there was not more destruction on day 1.
As for Camp Lejeune, there are some pretty funny videos being posted by Jarheads goofing while riding it out in the barracks. One of my sons and his family lives in NC and it is a pretty devastating storm so I am not trying to downplay it for those affected but the media just continues to prove their incompetence and unreliability.
The storm dead stories are being revealed, albeit slowly and stupid factors large. Depending upon whose report one reads, the totals range from 11 to 14. They include two geniuses who ran a generator inside their home. They got sleepy and then they got dead. Some woman was driving during the storm and ran into a tree. She, too, got deaded. Two people started a “storm-related fire” in their home. Candles and drapes? Living room warming fire? Doesn’t say. And some 81-year old fell and got himself dead, probably looking for his flashlight.
The latter one may be the fellow who walked outside to check on his pets, and was blown down.
Yes, that older gentleman had a heart attack. The original “blown down” story sounded a little odd to me and it was.
I’ve been out of work a couple of days and with the flooding expected will be out for another week. Wife’s work is flooded, too.
“Sir, you know you’re looting, right?” Brilliant question by a reporter outside of a store whose doors were knocked off and whose contents were being taken, some in shopping carts, by quite a number of fine citizens. Of course, low-rise projects sit across the street from the store, so it won’t come as a surprise if the place never reopens. That’s what happened to many stores in Watts and Baltimore decades ago when the natives decided to shit where they eat.
Gale-gate?
I guess if you’re gonna fake being blown away by a hurricane, at least you could position yourself facing into the wind! This college educated (b.s. in BS) reporter couldn’t even get that right?? He’s standing with his back to the storm… leaning with the wind… he even threw a piece of debris as an indicator!!! What a putz!!!
