From Bridgeport, CT

Police are investigating after a woman called to report that her husband had shot an intruder in their home.  The Connecticut Post reports that the woman called 911 at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday to report the shooting.

Police spokesman Av Harris says as officers were heading to the scene, another 911 call came in from someone saying they had been shot. They reported being close by the home where the intruder was shot.

Several officers canvassed the area, searching for a gunshot wound victim for nearly 15 minutes before finding him.

The investigation into the shooting remains active and no names were released.

From West Palm Beach, FL

A man with a concealed-weapons permit shot one of three men who tried to rob him at a gas station just outside West Palm Beach, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said.

He had just paid for his gas and was walking back to his car when three men approached and demanded money. Rather than hand it over, he drew his gun and shot at them, the Sheriff’s Office said.  The wounded would-be robber is in custody and is expected to survive. The attempted robbery happened just before 7 a.m. Saturday at the Shell station at 2970 N. Military Trail, said sheriff’s spokeswoman Teri Barbera.

“The victim, in fear of this life, discharged his firearm, which he has a concealed weapons permit for, striking one of the suspects,” she said, in a statement.

The gas station clerk, who would only identify himself as Mr. Nasser, said the intended victim appeared unhurt.

“The guy came in and paid for the gas and they tried to rob him and he fired at them,” Nasser said. “He was not killed, but somebody was injured.”

The clerk had just arrived at work when he saw the commotion.  “The sheriff’s office was here for about five hours,” he said.  “All three suspects fled,” Barbera said. “The injured suspect is in custody and is expected to survive his wounds.”  There was no immediate word on whether the customer who fired the shots would face any charges.

Sheriff’s deputies were searching for the other two suspects Saturday afternoon

It is a dangerous world in which we are living.

And apparently, the antifas are gearing up to cause trouble when the midterm elections come around. Should I carry my sword with me to the polls?

11B-Mailclerk

Most places prohibit weapons at polls. It may be felony-level prohibited.

May I suggest a good stout cane?

A Cross pen or mechanical pencil is also handy.

Note that both of those options also pass airport checkpoints.

If you have a gun, carry concealed. If you don’t tell, they don’t know.

The downside of “defiant carry” in a poll:

Get caught, and you may very well never again legally carry or vote.

Use guarantees “caught”, despite any necessity. Hope your on-retainer lawyer is good.

The violent opponent is not the only hazard to resolve. Beware.

If you suspect poll violence is likely:

Vote in groups. Have friends outside on overwatch who early-voted or absentee-balloted. Arrive very early. Carry whatever the local laws permit. Etc.

David

And if I may add: most likely the sort of harassment or relatively low-level violence at a poll will not meet the level allowing lethal resistance. See the idiot in FL facing charges after killing the man who pushed him to the ground.

I was surprised the good Sister failed to comment on that “which he has a concealed carry permit for” phrase.

I’d rather be alive than have my head split open and my relatives crying about not being able to defend yourself.

But its people like you that believe it will never happen to them. Good luck skippy. They’re looking for fools like you.

Be aware, be very aware at all times. Baggy britches, concealed carry small frame auto loader or hammer less revolver in pocket for those cases when carrying is questionable Stout cane/walking stick; hickory or oak, preferably fire poking stick with pointy end hardened in fire. Pen/pencil makes very nice stiletto. Leather belt with heavy buckle works well too. Trust no one until they earn it. Would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

Back in the 1950’s, Garrison belts with sharpened buckles were the mainstay of many NYC “Rocks”, the guys with the motorcycle jackets, engineer boots and DA Haircuts that would have a rumble (gang fight) with another group of their ilk. Rumble was also known among 50’s singing groups where they used to out sing each other.

Been reading this more and more:
Homeowner, “I just shot someone trying to break into my home”
Perp, “I was just walking along minding my own business when I was shot”
Do all perps read and practice from the same script?

LITTLE KNOWN NAVY/MILITARY HISTORY!
Trivia: How many Sailors and Marines has the Navy executed?
ANSWER: 17 Sailors and Marines has been executed by the US Navy!
The United States Navy has executed seventeen Sailors and Marines for various offenses, of which the most famous were several crew members of the USS Somers in 1842 who were summarily hanged for allegedly conspiring to mutiny.
No member of the Navy has been executed since 1849.
The United States Navy also executed fourteen Japanese nationals by hanging on charges of war crimes on Guam after the Second World War.
CURRENTLY THERE ARE SIX SERVICE MEMBERS ON DEATH ROW AT FORT LEAVENWORTH IN KANSAS!
Five individuals are currently awaiting execution under the UCMJ.
The death sentence of a sixth has been overturned on appeal, but that individual remains on death row awaiting a possible appeal by the military.
All executions, if carried out, will be by lethal injection.
The six service members are:
Specialist Ronald A. Gray (Army) – Two counts of both rape and premeditated murder – Sentenced 12 April 1988.
Private Dwight J. Loving (Army) – Two counts of felony murder – Sentenced April; 1989.
Sergeant Hasan Karim Akbar (Army) – Two counts of premeditated murder – Sentenced 28 April 2005.

When I was stationed at Navy Recruiting District, Kansas City…..we lived on Fort Leavenworth….and at night we would have to close the blinds to our bedroom due to the bright lights from the prison!
UPDATE:
President Barack Obama commuted Dwight J. Loving sentence to life without parole on 17 January 2017.
