Art Bell passes

| April 14, 2018

Today we learn that Art Bell, the host of Coast to Coast AM has passed at the age of 72. His show boasted 10 million nightly listeners to his 30-year-old radio program broadcast from 500 subscribing radio stations. His show was mainly about the paranormal, conspiracy theories and the extraterrestrial.

He also served during the Vietnam War as an Air Force medic.

From Heavy;

Sharon Wehrly, Nye County Sheriff, said that Bell passed away on April 13, 2018, adding that he was “best known for his conspiracy theories.” How did Bell die? That’s unknown, at least for now. He is scheduled for an autopsy later this week to determine the cause of death and was 72-years-old, the sheriff said in a videotaped press announcement.

I’m sure his death will generate more conspiracy theories.

Hack Stone

NPR, National Paranoid Radio. One time Hack was listening to his show, and he had a psychic on his show. The guy was going on about all of his ESP abilities that can predict the future, so Art asked him if he could provide some predictions. That wouldn’t be ethical, but he could reveal some past events that he predicted that did come true, such as San Francisco beating SanDiego in The Super Bowl. It was at this point that Hack realized that he must be a psychic. One of Hack’s greatest predictions was that if Psaul continued coming on TAH to defend Phil’s false claims of being a SEAL, things would not turn out well for Psaul.

Cowpill

He got me through many a night driving from Albuquerque to Vegas.

OldManchu

This!

SSG. Whiskey Tango

Indeed, He used to get me through many long nights of cross country truck driving. Nothing like a full moon, corn fields and Art Bell while driving through Nebraska at two a.m..

2/17 Air Cav

Never heard of him, let alone heard him.

Hack Stone

Daniel Bernath was a perfect fit for his demographic audience.

One of my fave categories of guests was the “remote viewers.” Most were scammers flogging a book or their remote viewing courses. I remember the ex-Army major predicting that 2000 was going to be the end of civilization as we know it; the Pacific coast was supposed to fall into the ocean or something.

SSG. Whiskey Tango

He was strictly for folks that inhabit the midnight to four a.m. world. He was entertaining.

mr. sharkman

Spot on.

And driving in the middle of nowhere, with the moon in the sky, some of what he said didn’t seem quite so crazy as it would have in daylight and surrounded by people. 😉

Milo Mindbender

Kept me company on 3rd shift, and kept me amused. Used to get Ken Hamblin 2200-0100, and then Art Bell until 0400. Made the loneliness a little less, and proved crazy wasn’t a disability with some of his guests.

OldManchu

Id like to see the funeral attendees if they would happen to be a cross section of his callers.

Much entertainment. My Son used to ask to stay up late so he could listen to the paranormal call ins. We would laugh so hard.

chooee lee

He was obviously taken out by an alien special forces team in retribution for some of his broadcasts.

GDContractor

Could have been the ebola. He warned us that it would sweep the planet and KILL US ALL.

Thunderstixx

Obviously it was the Ant People of Rigel 6 that finally took him out.
He organized a planetary defense on a bunch of 8088 computers and 58 BAUD modems twenty five years ago.
The fact that we’re still alive is proof that it worked.
Godspeed happy warrior !!!

PFM

I figured it was either the Greys or ChemTrails that finally got him 🙂

I used to listen to Art a lot When I drove home from work when I had my 6 month night pick of runs. He used to have on a former Mil. man that was involved in the Military remote viewing program (out of body experiance) and also taught it to people who were interested in the how to of remote viewing. This was used to find and free the Army General that was kidnapped in Italy back in the early 70’s by a terrorist group. I also liked to listen to the Long John Nebbel/Candy Jones radio show which ran the same type of para normal, UFO, vapor trails in the sky, over the horizon radar, weather control Etc. RIP Long John, Candy and Art.

Major Ed Danes (ret.)

Lots of nights on wheel watch, Gulf of Alaska. Rolling my eyes (a lot) kept me awake.

OldManchu

That and the fear of vampires his callers could evoke.

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

GDCContractor; Right Ed Danes. I remember he taught the classes and had a few Brits taking the class for using remote viewing to somehow win the Lotto games. Art also had that Japanese Physisit who is seen a lot on the science channel when space subjects come up.

cc senor

Michio Kaku? He used to have his own radio show.

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

GD And cc;
I thought I was the only one out there listening to this stuff. Do you remember Long John Nebbel and 40’s model Candy Jones???. No, I wasn’t around in the 40’s but she was involved with Viet Nam USO shows and was married to Long John.

cc senor

Always enjoyed listening to late night radio, but don’t recall Long John. I never could take Art Bell for too long at a time because the crazy would get too strong. Kaku’s show was pretty much science based and always had a question for callers that got the winner a book bu Kaku. During my first tour in Germany (’63-’66) I used to listen to a propaganda program from the GDR about war criminals living in FRG. That was al2ways entertaining.

Slick Goodlin

Interestingly enough, Japanese American theoretical physicist,Michio Kaku is also a former US Army Infantryman.
He was drafted towards the end of the Vietnam War and completed Basic and Infantry School.

RIP Art Bell…

The “infamous” Area 51 caller….

Sparks

My goodness! I was working that night as a DJ and Station Engineer at a local AM/FM station and we carried Art Bell when this played. The phones lit up with callers asking me if we had stopped broadcasting and all sorts of stuff. First time I realized how far we reached and how many people we awake and listening to Art Bell.

Rest in peace Mr. Bell.

HMCS(FMF) ret

I was stationed at 29 Palms when it was on (had a bout of insomnia that night)… thought it was the craziest thing I had ever heard in my life

PJS

A very interesting guy. I always wondered if he believed any of that stuff or if it was just his schtick (I suspect the latter).
He was a case of the right person, right time; the intersection of unlimited calling cellphones, nationwide radio shows, and just before the internet exploded into everyone’s consciousness.

mr. sharkman

Not too far off-topic because of Mr. Bell’s programming & beliefs;

Anyone else watch ‘People of Earth’? 😉

Ex-PH2

It seemed like every time I found the frequency he was on, it would drift away and be replaced by static noise. It was like intentional interference.

I always wanted to call him and ask him if the reason my mother voted Democrat had anything to do with her collecting weird stories about lights in the sky near Marfa, TX, and Odessa, TX.

JimV

Art was a very active Ham Radio Operator. I use to listen to him on 75 meters. He will be missed.

73’s Art.

Jeff LPH 3, 63-66

JimV; I never got a Ham ticket But am an avid Dxer using my Drake R7 receiver, Icom RC75 and WINRADIO (SDR) Also I can decode CW and RTTY with my Universal M-800. Used to own a Mil. surplus fax receiver that used an 18 inch paper/carbon paper roll. This was before fax came into vogue and was used over the phones. Most don’t realize that fax came into use around 1911-12. 40 meters has those RTTY and CW contests I monitor once in awhile. Sat’s and digital killed a lot of my monitoring stations.

He used to have that dipshit Nick Begich on his show frequently that was all about the HAARP conspiracies. God, how I detested that moron. If I recall correctly, he had a PhD or something in sweat lodge science, from a holistic Crystal Farm in Albuquerque New Mexico or something equally ridiculous. Nick Begich has a brother named Mark Begich, who was the mayor of Anchorage for several years and then served as a United States senator from Alaska.

UpNorth

Listened to Art when I worked 3d shift on patrol. It was…………entertaining, I guess. Rest in peace, Art.

Jack Mehoff

He died of COPD CRAZY old PEDOPHILES Disease..cradle robber.

Inbred Redneck

KDWN, Las Vegas was Dodger baseball and Art Bell on my old tube radio for many years. The transition from Vin Scully’s voice to Art’s was sometimes jarring.

E4 Mafia For Life.

He died of complications from an Alien anal probe.

I suspect he was much like Alex Jones; an ‘entertainer’ preying on the fears or fantasies of others.

Most of the “UFO” sightings are simply military aircraft. Especially people gathering around Groom Lake… which is where the US develops and tests our secret squirrel stuff.

E4 Mafia For Life.

Maybe Art Bell died in 2050 – the alternate timeline when Cyberdyne Systems SkyNet was close to wiping out the humans.
Bell had just reverse engineered the Phase Plasma Rifle in the 40 Watt range and Attempted to bring it back to 2018 by keister stash.
Unfortunately, he was one of the few unaware that travelers could not take back non-organic items so his body ruptured.
