4 HH-60 crew members identified
Stars & Stripes reports that the HH-60 Pave Low that crashed yesterday was from the New York Air National Guard’s 106th Rescue Wing, based in Westhampton Beach on Long Island. It went down near the town of Qaim in Anbar province and enemy action is not the cause of the crash, according to the Pentagon.
Four members of the 7-man crew lost in the crash are identified as Chistopher Raguso, a lieutenant with the New York Fire Department’s Company 4, Fire Marshal Christopher “Tripp” Zanetis, a New York City firefighter since 2004, Staff Sergeant Dashan Briggs a husband and father of two children, and Air Force Staff Sergeant Carl Enis, a 31-year-old Pinecrest, Fla. native, a pararescueman and a member of the 308th Rescue Squadron from Patrick Air Force Base.
A second helicopter accompanying it immediately reported the crash and a quick reaction force of Iraqi and coalition forces secured the scene, officials said.

Various reports say the helo hit power lines.
God rest them well.
“That others may live”
Obviously these were men with a strong calling to serve. Enjoy Valhalla, brothers.
Each of these losses hurts, certainly more so for loved ones and friends of the Fallen than for others of us. But the losses still hurt. We can wonder why and how and play the game of if only and what if but, when we’re done, good men remain gone. I was sitting with my wife yesterday and a cooking show was on TV. I wasn’t paying attention to it until I heard that the cooks had to concoct something for Memorial Day which the host said was “a day to honor our men and women serving in uniform.” The hell it is.
The cook’s heart is in the right place. I’m forgiving of those who confuse Memorial and Veteran’s Day, and gently correct and thank them for caring.
Actually, the host confused Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day. It was the show’s host and his ignorance contributes to the confusion. I’d rather he and those like him just shut the hell up if the ultimate sacrifice made by so many is relegated to a red, white, and blue dessert.
Rest in Peace.
From Army Dustoff “When I Have Your Wounded” to Air Force CSAR “So Others May Live”, rest easy my Brothers.
Rest in peace, all of them.
Of course is was a SAR helo. There but for the grace of God go I.
Fair winds and following seas, brothers.
RIP…………fair winds and following seas
This has nothing to do with aircrew.
I really hate helicopters.
The article seems to have been updated to include Master Sergeant William R. Posch, 36, of Indialantic, Florida.
Both Posch and Ennis served in the 920th Rescue Wing out of Patrick Air Force Base, which happens to be right up the street from me.
I knew Posch but not Ennis.
I know it sounds silly, but these guys didn’t try to take the loves of others, but save lives.
Just a bad day here.
Pararescuemen!
There was also a CRO on board
Rest in peace, brothers.
R.I.P Fallen Warriors. Enjoy Valhalla, you were taken from us far too soon.
