Students on gun control II
In the same theme as Exploding Deer Boy from yesterday, here are a couple examples of the enlightened, critical young thinkers participating in the anti-gun school walk out.
Apparently they think the White House is a “Gun Free Zone” and therefore is a safe place to be. I think the Secret Service would disagree.

This is just sad. While decrying the NRA’s supposed bloodthirstiness, she is wearing a school jersey with a Spartan mascot, and “MOLON AABE” (sic) printed below. I don’t think I have to remind anyone here of the significance of either the image or the motto.
I really shouldn’t blame the kids, at least entirely. They didn’t come up with all this crap on their own.
Tip ‘o the hat to Thomas Lifson over at American Thinker
Category: "Teh Stoopid"
If only they truly knew how they’re being used as propaganda pawns, “useful idiots” as the likes of Lenin, Stalin, Mao would say.
The teachers and their “union” helped “encourage” this… “for the children”
I have absolutely ZERO doubt about that and I wonder how much money Soros has put into that campaign?
I don’t see a problem with peaceful protests. Like I’ve said before, I don’t own a gun but I’ll defend anyone’s right to legally own one. I may not agree with these kids but I’ll defend their first Amendment rights just like the Second. I know there are a lot of folks here who believe that their way is the only way. And that’s cool I try to see this way , I’m not going to diss anyone who’s worldview does not conform to my own .maybe these kids anger is misdirected but it’s what they believe , and as long as their protests are peaceful. Then that’s the Constitution in action. I do know this though , that intractable political positions that leave no room for dialogue with those that we disagree with will not affect any kind of meaningful change wether it be in the halls of Congress or amongst the rest of us.
I don’t object to anyone exercising their right to speak freely. I question how free the speech is when the youngsters are being purposefully used by adults to deliver the message. It simply should not be done.
Using kids in this way is really no different from those adults who say that it is OK to have sex with children when they consent to having sex with the adult. Do they really? Or are they coerced by someone more powerful, and supposedly learned, than they are?
Peaceful protests are a great thing, the right to peaceful assembly is part of what brought the USA to life. I have a problem with any organization that trots out people that have no real understanding of what they’re protesting, and that problem increases when they use children. These kids are under the impression that they’re acting within the system to change things for the better, and I applaud them for their attempt. They have no idea that they’re a pawn in someone else’s chess game, and that should be a problem for anyone.
I’m not down with the whole hidden hand trying to co opt a protest if others agree with what these kids are doing , fine support it. But if a group is trying to use these kids to stick it to the NRA and gun owners to score political points then I agree , that these groups should stop it. After all I think the idea that these kids want to go to school without fear of violence is completely understandable. But I agree that they are young and impressionable and for a group to take advantage of that is way out of line
To echo & expand on what OWB said:
People in positions of authority are behind the students’ actions and have directed them – explicitly and willingly – into this behavior.
The kids are too ignorant and inexperienced to realize that they and their emotions are being manipulated by those in positions of authority and influence over them. I really pity them.
But it is just what happened during the Vietnam War when authority figures utilized the ignorance and inexperience of the youth of America to generate opposition to political positions the authority figures did not like – and with the funding of various foreign communist groups.
The poor kids are being shamelessly used, and abused, by these charlatans. And they do not know it. Hopefully the kids will wake up quickly – and respond by becoming both educated and thinking members of society, i.e. conservatives.
Let’s take the kids at Parkland for starters – do you really think that of the possible things influencing them right now, some nameless adults with a political agenda is more powerful than the fact they just witnessed some friends of theirs get shot and killed at school?
If the gun control crowd had that sort of magical power, they’d have won ages ago. The kids aren’t being used – they’re kids, some of whom directly witnessed murder (how many here can say they’ve seen such killing at their age?), and others who, at their own schools, probably know a few kids who are ‘unwell’ and worry, every day, about what might happen.
You may certainly feel they’re uninformed on the benefits of gun rights, but to suggest their actions are because of some scheming adults instead of the things they deal with every day stretches plausability. Do adults who recognize an ally in this fight work with them? Absolutely. But that’s not the same thing. Unless we want to start talking about how the gun rights side of the equation is ‘coerced’ and ‘used’ by the NRA… which, obviously, is laughable – it’s a shared goal.
“The kids aren’t being used”
bwahahahahahahahqahahahahahahahaha
So you don’t think they’d have a vested interest in this without the adults? Really?
It’s not ‘being used’ if you’d do it anyway without prodding. Unless, again, you’re ‘being used’ by the NRA whenever it asks to fight for gun rights.
useful idiots…and those that rationalize them.
Yeah, it’s just a coincidence that they’re parroting the same liberal talking points verbatim.
They absolutely DO have a vested interest in this. They also have no real understanding of the “gun control” issues they’re protesting. They’re spoon-fed a diet of “guns bad, NRA evil” and do not have the opportunity to hear an opposing viewpoint. Sounds very much like “four legs good, two legs bad”.
Fair enough – though I’d point out that puts them on par with 99% of our elected representatives, and a rather large part of the population on the whole for any given issue. And they’re young, so I’m inclined to give them more of a pass than people who should know better.
I guess I just don’t like the instantly dismissive attitude towards kids who, especially in the case of the Parkland kids, just went through a tragedy that’s pretty fucking unimaginable to most people. It irks me in much the same way that dismissing anyone who voted for Trump as ‘sexist’ or ‘racist’ does. People have their own motivations, even if others will co-opt shared goals for their own purposes.
I’m not dismissive of the kids, I’m dismissive of the fact that their ignorance is used as a political tool of the left. These kids aren’t stupid, they’re uninformed and misled.
The kids are being EXPLOITED to the Nth Degree by the left, ‘nuff said!
LC says: “they just witnessed some friends of theirs get shot and killed at school…”
No, they did not. Those are random kids in a random setting. You ASSUMED that they’re from that rampage in February but you have no proof.
You made a blanket statement ‘their friends’, even so, and your statement is non sequitur without proof that the people in the photos knew the shooting victims personally.
I think you missed this bit:
I was talking about the situation at large, and focused on those kids. Since they’ve been the most prevelant in the media.
I haven’t yet seen a kid who actually witnessed that horrible event in front of a camera. I have seen some 17-year-old knowitalls who were in a different building at the other end of the school claiming moral authority over 150 million Americans who have done nothing to them. I saw another kid, can’t think of his name, on Ben Shapiro’s show who admits that while he was at school, he didn’t actually witness the murders, and says that the kids who did see it happen are avoiding the press as much as possible.
I think we’re arguing semantics.
If I were in school, and suddenly everyone is shouting, taking cover, and unsure what’s going on, and it turns out 17 classmates -maybe some close friends, but all people I know- are murdered by a terrorist, I don’t need to actually have seen (eg, witness) them get shot to be pretty fucking impacted by that sequence of events, and have a personal stake in ensuring it doesn’t happen again.
That’s what I mean by witnessing the events. They were in them, even if they didn’t see kill-shots or the assailant. It’s gonna have an impact.
“They were in them”
Most were not. Less than 1% of the almost 100K public schools have had a shooting which btw are/were actual declining. These events were nation wide encompassing all the logistics and accoutrements of organized liberal protests…complete with zero actual answers and guest appearances by the usual political airheads…but whatever.
As of 2016, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School has 3158 students enrolled. In all likelihood, few of the protesting kids knew any of the 17 victims personally. It doesn’t diminish the tragedy, but claiming to have witnessed it when they were just in the vicinity and didn’t know the victims, then using that claim as a means of moral superiority is not the kind of thing that sits well with me.
No one can say that all students in every school didn’t have adult help and guidance in putting together their little protests. There are far too many news reports showing adult collusion. Perhaps the students at Parkland and some other schools are actually putting it all together on their own. But that raises another question, how informed are they? Are they coming to their positions on their own or are they being ‘coached?’ Coaching seems possible when one looks at the signs the students carry. many of them carry the very same messages the anti-gun left has been using for years. Also, how many of those students are reflecting on their own part in the shooting? How badly was the shooter bullied in school that he felt shooting his fellow students was an appropriate action? How many of those students looked at the shooter daily and saw a loser, geek, or some other pejorative rather than another student and human being? Did any of them reach out to him to see what was troubling him? Did any of them ever say a kind word to him? Instead, they follow the leftist line and blame the object and the NRA.
When I was young, I lost a friend to a drunk driver. I wanted to advocate for responsible drinking, but being young, I wasn’t entirely sure how, so I had my mother help me. Does that mean I was used by my mother, who also supported that (she was a teetotaler)? Or was it my own experiences driving me, and I got help from an adult?
There’s lots of fine points to be made on how informed they might be, but I’m focusing on whether or not they’re being ‘used’. To me, that’s such a dismissive and unrealistic depiction of the situation when kids are passionate about something political. You can argue they’re wrong, I just think arguing they’re being used is considerably more wrong and unhelpful than it is right.
You are a totally clueless progtard if you don’t see they are being “used” by the gun control leftards/D-rats. You think multiple busloads of school kids from broke Baltimore isn’t an indication. How about kids who are being disciplined for not participating. Progtardism truly is an incurable mental disorder.
Did your mother help you to become informed on the issue or did she simply turn you loose?
When school officials and others get involved and set the program disallowing and even punishing dissent, then it seems obvious that the children are being used. On the other hand, in some cases there is a decided lack of supervision by those in authority with students tearing down flags, trashing stored and vandalizing autos and other personal property along the march route.
I assume that you are in the camp that believes those under the age of 21 shouldn’t be allowed to purchase firearms.
LC, the sheer logistics of the organized effort indicates serious planning and resources. No “school kid” does either that well.
This was adult prepped, and financed.
“Blood-dancing ghouls” is more than appropriate as a label.
This despicable exploitation of children is a mark of just how badly the left is losing in their ongoing campaign against civil rights, and shows how desperate they are to regain their position to re-impose “privilege” as the concept, versus “rights”.
“Take away their rights!” Was the only permitted message. “Guard the schools” was not permitted.
That is not a mark of “student self interest.”
LC, I know you are probably inured to the effects of facts, however for those innocent bystanders who may not be sure:

And call the AntiFree “hoodie” folks:
Blackheads
So, LC, the kids came up with the cash to charter buses last week to take them to Tallahasee to lobby the legislature? They came up with the cash to charter the buses that took them to D.C., paid cash for the PA systems so they could address the crowds on Wednesday? They came up with the cash to charter the buses for the March on 4-10? Or, is the cash being supplied by some “scheming adults”, I don’t know, maybe named Soros, Bloomberg, the DNC? The AFT and NEA?
I don’t see a problem with protesting.
On weekends and after school. Otherwise, it’s just another waste of my/our tax dollars.
Question for school administrators: how does shit like this prepare the little snowflakes for the real world? You know, the one where when they pull shit like this, they get fired. Actions, consequences, shit like that.
Freedom of speech was never intended to be lies, misdirection, ordinary lying BULLSHYT and false blatant fabrication imho!
Their school was a gun-free zone, which is what made it such a good target.
There was a gun on the school property, it is just that a coward was holding it. Why are they not protesting the coward cop?
Because they’re not smart enough. Why blame the shooter, or the cops, when there’s a perfectly evil gun involved.
I blame the teachers. Instead of teaching critical thinking and encouraging research they use their position to indoctrinate.
No teachers should have been involved in any of this. Is it really a walkout if it’s organized and encouraged by administration and staff?
Blame the public education system more than the teachers.
Many public school teachers I know personally are not allowed to teach the kids to think, because they are being forced to teach them what they need to know to pass some mandated test that was developed by some bureaucrat.
I get that you have to teach to the test. That’s how we did it in the service and how we did it in my public sector jobs.
For example, all through out my military and public service training something along the lines of “this is how it is on the test, but this is how we do it in real life” was said in every class.
So I think there’s a way to teach to the test and to also get the kids thinking. It’s just harder. I feel for teachers, it’s not an easy job, and I’m sure the tests grind away at their reasons for getting into the field to begin with.
I remember my best teachers would always tell me where to find the answer and not give it to me. They would ask “why?” or have you explain it to them in your own words. I remember once in some downtime in a high school class another student and I were reading through an almanac for something to do. I noted that it was interesting that Juneau, AK’s average winter temps were much higher than International Falls, MN. The teacher asked me why that might be, and when I started to give him my answer he stopped me. Told me I’d get extra credit if I could explain it to two other students sufficiently that they in turn could explain it to him.
Today’s teachers get virtually no room to expand on the teaching to allow for that, and unless the DoE changes and the state education agencies improve, they will receive none.
The best teachers I know are looking for ways to move to the private school sector so they can actually teach.
Not surprised. High school was already further back than I’m willing to publicly admit (denial is a powerful tool)? So is that the effect of no child left behind and/or common core?
I’d prefer the feds leave things up to the states, as I do in most things. The closer the control to the local level, the more accountability.
Right on!
Also, the cleverness of blaming an inanimate object is that it is mute and has no way to refute the verbal attacks against it.
Student at a school a few blocks from my house allegedly held up a sign that said “18 for the 18”. Must not be aware it was 17 people that lost their lives.
The school of the girl in the Spartans sweatshirt clearly does not have a good history department!
Don’t know where you are Mason, but Tucson schools added Christina Taylor Green to the 17.
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/early-lead/2011/01/granddaughter_of_dallas_green.html
TUSD (Tucson Unified School District) has got to be the biggest joke in the US. Unfortunately, Grijalva was superintendent when I graduated and I have to see his name on my diploma. UGH!
I don’t live in his district but we don’t use the “G” word in our house.
Fat corrupt fuck with a crooked family.
They add somebody from a totally unrelated event that occurred years ago? Without including the numerous other people that fell victim to felonious gun violence in that time frame?
And we’re supposed to take them seriously?
https://www.kgun9.com/news/local-news/students-walkout-of-canyon-del-oro-high-school
She would have been a senior at this high school this year.
Gotcha. Then I can see the connection. I’m less disgusted with them now.
MOLON AABE? Well, if that doesn’t seal and stamp the fact that those children are the most ignorant people on the planet, what does?
μολὼν λαβέ is the correct spelling in Greek.
Pronounced Moh-lohn lah-vay.
That pointy-headed ponytailed bimbo has a sweatshirt that says ‘come and nothing’.
Obviously, the ignorance level is high with these twits. The Greek letter lambda does not remostely resemble the letter alpha. I would not, however expect idiots to know or understand that, nor do I expect them to have the slightest understanding of their own hypocrisy.
Glad I found my dad’s Greek and Latin textbooks from high school and undergrad school.
I have stuff to do. These spoiled children annoy me. There is not enough time in the world to keep explaining things to them when their minds are closed and their brains snap shut before you can even utter a sentence.
Ex-PH2 – the sweatshirt is printed using all capital Greek letters: ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ is the all-caps version of μολὼν λαβέ
I think you are misreading her shirt.
“MOLON AABE” is as close as I can get; seems the site is either confused by Greek characters, or my copy&paste fu is weak.
I don’t know Graybeard-All this stuff is Greek to me.
Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar Act 1, Scene 2, Casca speaking.
(grin)
The position in which she’s standing makes the lambda (if it is one) look like an alpha.
It may be a difference in screen resolutions, but the third character in the Greek is definitely an omega (not the omicron AW1Ed sees), and on my screen it is clearly a lambda not an alpha – although the shadowing under her bosom and the wrinkling of the shirt can cause some issues with seeing that.
I’m going to stand by my position that the text is spelled correctly on her shirt. YMMV
I couldn’t get it to enlarge, so I’ll take your word for it.
I found a site that has the photo cropped, but the writing is larger:
https://pjmedia.com/trending/anti-gun-protester-holds-anti-nra-sign-with-pro-gun-motto-on-her-hoodie/
These kids are just parroting the beliefs of their ignorant ass parents. No doubt they are democrat flunkies.
Four legs good! Two legs baaaaaaaaaahhhhd!
Honey, your school IS A GUN FREE ZONE!!
Only the Whitehouse is NOT a gun free zone. It is an armed fortress. It has a wall with gates, armed guards, perimeter sensors, roving patrols, and armed agents guarding the interior. It has sharpshooters on the roof armed with anti aircraft missiles to dissuade aerial attack. No little lady, The white house is protected by more guns than you have ever seen in one place, your school house, on the other hand,is protected by a cheap cardboard picture of a gun.
Stupid question: Isn’t the White House a ‘gun free zone’ in the same way that the school is? That is, only select people can have guns at each? Secret service, and the regrettably ineffective School Resource Officer? If you’re not US Secret Service and try walking into the White House with a weapon, it’s going to go badly for you.
I know there’s a million differences betweens schools and the White House, but the poster isn’t wrong, it’s just not a good comparison, no?
It’s not only not a good comparison, it’s completely ignorant. The White House is pretty much an armed camp, albeit stealthily. And the reason for that? So it goes VERY badly for someone with a gun.
Here ended the lesson, kids. The White House is not a gun free zone. It’s protected by good guys with guns.
Well, the poster is wrong in the sense that she thinks that her school isn’t a gun free zone, which it is.
For Christ’s sake you ‘tard, the White House is an armed camp. It even has a sniper team and an anti-aircraft missile system. Calling it a “gun free zone” is absurd. Also, how about you tell us how any progtard inspired gun control law would have prevented this shooting, since people bent on mass murder don’t follow laws, like the ones against murder.
The WH even has its own police force! The US Secret Service Uniformed Division.
A courier truck hauling coins for cash registers is better protected than almost any school.
Why do Lefties value kids less than quarters?
Kids don’t donate huge sums of money to campaign coffers, thus proglodyte pols only see them as useful propaganda tools for pushing their agenda. Who in their right mind runs around demanding the loss of Constitutionally given freedom and more Government control over their lives after Government types show just how cowardly, inept and incompetent they can truly be?
I found this amusing story:
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2018/03/16/high-school-custodian-stole-cash-from-students-bags-during-national-school-walkout-cops-say.html
Im sure the evil NRA put him up to it.
Reminds me of the school bus driver who ate all the kids’ bagged lunches in Billy Madison while they were on a field trip…
Wow, I sure hope he or she was fired.
“Billy Madison” was a movie, not a real life event.
The bus drive ate the kids’ sandwiches IN A MOVIE.
I’m aware of that.
I just re-read this at 3am on the train and realized it may or may not have been in response to my post. If not, my apologies.
Need coffee…
The high school I teach at had a walkout on immigration issues last year. One student of mine, who skipped constantly, had a shithead attitude about everything and had all the brain cells of a rectal tumor, participated. She even got in trouble because she walked back into class with her fast food lunch.
With that, and with all of the posters that are idiotic even by left wing standards, I just can’t take seriously any student protest. Organized ditch days, nothing else.
In a conversation I had about the topic yesterday someone pointed out how it was almost all the students “participating.” I pointed out the obvious; it’s a way to get out of school and goof off for an hour with no repercussions (and indeed the enthusiastic support of the admin). Of course they’re all going to participate!
Like that group that went and trashed a Walmart.
The “group” that trashed the Walmart across the street from their high school consisted of a small group of students at that school.
The videos identify them, and the other students know who they are, and did NOT appreciate their school’s reputation being trashed like that store was.
The alderman who worked to get businesses into that district in Chicago was thoroughly pissed off about the whole thing, too.
If you don’t GET that not everyone thinks such things are amusing or ‘it’s just kids’, you are sadly mistaken. There IS such a thing as ZERO TOLERANCE still in effect, you know.
The Chick holding the sign that wants her place of work to be a gun free zone can just put up a gun free zone sign on her door where she works. Easy.
I believe most fast-food joints are gun free zones.
The Palm Beach Mayor asked the people running this weekends gun show at the County Fairgrounds if they would not have it because of the school shooting. The response was a negative and we are having it. Will not make any of the 2 day show due to social activities which came up like out of no where. Hoping for the April show now.
And there’s this guy. He’s so enlightened.
https://www.chicksonright.com/2018/03/16/woke-soldier-virtue-signals-by-turning-his-ar-15-in-to-police-so-what-happens-to-it-next/
What the bleeding hell does “woke” mean, anyway? Is that another of the left’s Buzzwords?
Newspeak
Woke = intentionally ignorant, effectively asleep to actual situation and facts.
“Woke” folks are the ones -without- the special “sunglasses” in the movie “They Live”.
Slow clapping starts*
Agree 100%
And I am all out of bubblegum.
Best ad lib line in movie history courtesy of Rowdy Roddie
Hmm, thought it meant the opposite.. someone who after being oblivious to all the progtard offenses and causes, became aware and sympathetic.
Yes. That is correct.
/sarc
Eunuch
Best definition I’ve heard yet.
How many times must I say that no one is forcing anyone to own, buy, touch, smell or even look at pictures of firearms?
I said it’s a right, a choice. It is NOT forced on anyone. Therefore, I do not understand these public displays of hysterics over an inaminate object that requires a live person to make it work.
These kids are tools for no purpose other than to remove your rights – all of them, one by one.
Proglodytes typically have a bad case of Trump Acceptance Resistance Disorder (TARD) which they let make them Trump Acceptance Resistance Disorder Operatives (TARDOs). In this case we see those with Really Exceptional Trump Acceptance Resistance Disorder (RETARD) making themselves Really Exceptional Trump Acceptance Resistance Disorder Operatives (RETARDOs) trying to turn young people into TARDOs, they want to spread TARDO everywhere they can!
Wow. There are no words for the ignorance flaunted in those photos.
The Left – enforcing “ignorance is Bliss” at every turn.
No kidding. Want to stop school shootings? Let the teachers who volunteer to be armed get training and carry. Shoot the perp on sight. Mass shootings at schools now over
Apparently the little retards are too busy learning how to accommodate trannies in the rest rooms and the myth of global warming to notice the “gun free zone” signs at the entrance to the school
