From Lawrence County, Pennsylvania;

Two men entered the house in Ellport, outside of Ellwood City, shortly before 1:30 a.m. Friday, according to county emergency officials.

The 84-year-old homeowner, Don Lutz, fired at the intruders and one was fatally shot, authorities said. The other suspect fled.

Mr. Lutz told Post-Gazette news partner KDKA-TV that he was sleeping when the intruders came in.

“I woke up, they were busting in my front door… he went to grab me and that’s when I shot him,” Mr. Lutz said.

In Richmond, Virginia;

Police said the incident happened around 8:15 p.m. in 2200 block of Concord Avenue, near Jefferson Davis Highway. Police say the probable suspect was shot during the incident.

The linked article says that the 84 year old Korean war veteran sleeps with a loaded .380 semi auto under his pillow
He went to investigate a noise and shot a 300 pound burglar
They tousled until the criminal rolled over dead and his accomplice fled
I would say that here is proof that .380 is a suitable defensive round
These miscreants picked the wrong old man to victimize!
I keep my pistol on the bedside table
is it safe to sleep with one under the pillow?
