Sergeant Robert Thornton Jr passes
Mick sends us a link to the sad news that Sergeant Robert Thornton Jr of the 528th Sustainment Brigade at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, passed away during physical training (PT). The 528th is part of the 1st Special Forces Command. Sergeant Thorton was a power generation equipment repairer with the 112th Signal Battalion since he joined the unit last January.
The Fayetteville Observer reports that the 29-year-old sergeant collapsed on Ardennes and his fellow soldiers tried to revive him unsuccessfully.
He leaves behind his wife Danielle and two children, Jaylen and Kinsley according to Fox News.
A reminder that training for war can be a deadly as the war itself.
