US stops issuing visas in Cuba, cuts embassy staff, urges no travel to island

Cuba

Fox News is reporting the US State Department is recalling staff from the embassy, warning against travel to the island nation, and taking additional measures due to the unexplained attacks on American diplomats.

SecState Rex Tillerson has ordered the departure of all non-essential employees and family members, as well as warning Americans against visiting there. Because the State Department is removing staff, it must also issue the travel warning.

Almost a year after diplomats began describing unexplained health problems, U.S investigators still don’t know what or who is behind the attacks, which have harmed at least 21 diplomats and their families, some with injuries as serious as traumatic brain injury and permanent hearing loss. Although the State Department has called them “incidents” and generally avoided deeming them attacks, officials said Friday the U.S. now has determined there were “specific attacks” on American personnel in Cuba.

The US will halt all official delegations to Cuba, although diplomatic discussions will continue in Washington, DC. The Trump administration has deliberately not blamed Cuba for the attacks, but is seeking the best way to minimize potential harm to US citizens in Cuba, while emphasizing Cuba’s responsibility to ensure the safety of diplomats on its soil.

Now would be a very good time to revisit Barry’s ridiculously one-sided treaty with Cuba, and get some real concessions from Raul and company.

Trying to remedy the Big Zero’s blinkered actions is costing Americans their health.

I wish there was some way these diplomats and their families could sue the Big Zero for reckless endangerment.

Well, there certainly is a way. He’s a private citizen now. I’d say haul his flabby butt into court and make him accountable through his checking account.

Who would dare demand the Great Leader?
I can already see the accusations of racisssm.

This is such a strange thing – last I heard, speculation of acoustic weapons was shot down pretty hard by some eggheads at MIT and the Air Force Research Lab, who tend to know about that sort of thing. Meaning, either an enemy has a sonic weapon that’s considerably more advanced than our understanding of acoustic physics, or it ain’t that. I’m inclined to go with the latter option.

Also, Canadians have been affected too, and while US-Cuban relations haven’t been great, US-Canadian relationships are pretty good. Either way, let’s hope our staff are safe and this is figured out soon.

Couldn’t a targeted microwave do this?

The Castros could be testing weapons that Vlad Putin gave them on his last visit (2014?), stuff that’s possible but still in the realm of sci-fi.

Indeed it could. Would be well within the Cubans’ abilities. Not sure exactly what they’d be getting out of it. Seems like we’re only giving them loads of money in this “deal”.

I would also suspect unshielded microwaves. Denature a few brain proteins, and lots of different serious symptoms are possible.

“Couldn’t a targeted microwave do this?”
Microwaves are RF energy and would only cause water molecules in the body to heat. Thermal damage only.

You can’t make that stuff out of old ’57 Chevy parts so their getting it from someone else. Thank you Obama.

I can’t wait to see this and the Iran crap be undone by President Trump and Company, may the previous administration’s legacy get its rightful place on as Ronald Reagan said, “…on the ash heap of History.”

When I was an active Jolly Volly Firefighter, we were instructed to keep the antenna on our portables perpendicular from our heads and not inline like next to an ear. This had to due with the microwave emmissions when the portable was keyed. Information Unlimited up in the northen East coast sells a lot of acoustical and other electronic gadgets, which are ready made and kits if one is handy with a soldering iron. Check the site out. Possibly New Hampshire but I do not remember. I should have looked it up before posting it.
