George Rosario, mayoral candidate embellishes military records
George Rosario is running for mayor in Groveland, Florida. He claims to be a veteran of 21 years. According to the Orlando Sentinel, he also claimed to have been awarded the Purple Heart and two Bronze Star Medals for his time in Desert Storm on his website (which is mysteriously altered from the Sentinel’s version now).
His Facebook page used to have a picture of him wearing a Purple Heart hat;
Mike Vitale, a veteran himself, busted him on the two Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart;
Vitale requested a meeting with Rosario and asked that he bring paperwork proving his medals.
When Rosario showed up to Vitale’s office recently, he brought paperwork showing he was awarded a National Defense Service Medal, signifying service in the Gulf War. The ribbon has two small bronze stars on it, which Rosario’s campaign manager said was the source of mistaken reference to “Bronze Stars.”
Vitale said Rosario explained the hat was purchased by his wife and his “staff” maintained the website.
Said Vitale: “You’re the vet, your supposed to know this better than this better than anyone …That’s ridiculous.”
Vitale asked Rosario to remove the photos from his Facebook page, which the candidate did.
The statement confirmed that Rosario’s “preliminary” website did say he had achieved a Purple Heart, because Rosario appealed to the military board and figured he would be quickly awarded the medal.
Due to election season, he said he didn’t have time to go through with the appeal and made corrections to his website “when it was brought to my attention.”
He continued, “Now, despite what has been said, I’m a proud veteran who has been awarded many medals, including two bronze stars on my DD 215 [certificate of discharge] for my overseas duty in Southwest Asia.”
The article says that Rosario was going to explain it all last night at a meeting, but I don’t see an explanation on Facebook or on the website.
How many times have we heard the excuse that the valor thief’s wife was confused and that “staff” screwed up a website?
Here’s Rosario’s statement;
“I would like to set the record straight because I have nothing to hide regarding a recent rumor. I have a webpage that describes my achievements. It did contain a Purple Heart in my preliminary webpage.
“I was to appeal to the military board, when I put the Purple Heart on my webpage thinking it would get approved quickly. Because I was busy with my election, I did not have the time to do my appeal, so I wanted to make corrections to my site when it was brought to my attention.
“I will be in the process of appealing to the Army military board to continue to obtain my Purple Heart. Now, despite what has been said, I’m a proud veteran who has been awarded many medals, including two bronze stars on my DD 215 for my overseas duty in Southwest Asia.
Yeah, no one claims a Purple Heart without actually having one and a 21-year veteran that doesn’t know the difference between two bronze service stars on Southwest Asia Service Medal and two Bronze Star Medals Needs to turn over his pension.

What so called injuries did he receive for awarding the Purple Heart? Choked on an MRE oatmeal (chock block) bar? How many knots and oak leaf clusters does he also have in addition to the ‘Bronze Stars’?
Also another game of guess the political prty.
I had a Beef Stew MRE while serving in Desert Shield that looked like it had a severed finger in it. I was so traumatized, I did not have a bowel movement for ten days. Or, it could have been due to eating nothing but MRE’s for ten days. You never forget your first MRE shit. I named it Psaul.
LMAO Fecal Splinters in your rectum are something no one forgets. I thought it was a telephone pole at first.
So does that qualify Psaul for the purple heart or did you get one?
He broke his taint… and has manginitis! Didn’t you know that both those conditions qualifies anyone for a Purple Heart?
/sarc
Let me guess the political party. Demorat?
From his website, “He values honesty, integrity, responsibility, and community.”
Yeah, not so much. Based on how he handled this, he is dishonest, lacks integrity, and hasn’t taken responsibility for his actions. Asshat.
From his fecalbook page:
Archer Law and the Florida Biker Law Group proudly endorse George Rosario for Groveland Mayor. It’s time for a positive change and that change is embodied in the patriotism and attention to detail that Mr. Rosario will bring to the office of Mayor.
Florida. Bikers. Lawyers. Phonies. I’m getting that nagging feeling like I’ve seen this movie before, someone help me out here…
Phildo & Company, maybe?
Did he choke on an MRE oatmeal bar for award of the Purple Heart? How many Oak Leaf Medals does he have?
I shoulda’ got a Purple Eye when I invited “Baby Huey” outside the barracks. At the time, I was bulletproof and 10 ft tall, or so I thought when I got drunk.
Hang on…I am counting all my bronze stars. Do I get to count the little silver ones?
Now I feel bad for those of you that get those silly little oak leaf clusters instead.
George Rosario is full of shit.
Hey; I’ve got three bronze stars, and two silver stars! I have two CA-ARNG awards which indicate subsequent awards using stars, instead of oak leaves. Per CA-ARNG Reg. 600-8-22. (I just now reviewed the 1 December 2008 edition. Apparently, I should have two gold stars on the California Drill Attendance Ribbon; 1st award is the ribbon tenth award is one gold star. So 21 years = gold starx2. Time to submit a CA-ARNG Form 149.)
Poser Assclown.
And he’ll probably still win the election.
I got my PH in Desert Storm so you really piss me off Georgie boi. Come to think of it maybe a special trained lawyer and aviation enthusiast along with his parachuting clown may be advising him on election tactics. Well Georgie boi you can always run for dog catcher.
“So most important, I would like to focus on the issues of the city and Trilogy, rather than the negativity that brings no results.” Rosario’s letter to Orlando Sentinel
Negativity? I suppose that is a matter of perspective. For many people, it’s a positive thing when valor thieves, phonies, and embellishers are exposed. Exposure safeguards the hard-won accomplishments and sacrifices of others. But I suppose if one is accused of one of those things, yeah, it’s a negative. A lot.
“including two bronze stars on my DD 215 for my overseas duty in Southwest Asia.”
What the fuck does that mean?
Cocksucker.
The Bronze stars wouldn’t fit on his DD 214.
Upon discharge my DD-214 listed the NDSM. No mention of stars.
About fifteen years later I received a DD-215 correcting my DD-214 to read NDSM w/ 3 Bronze Service Stars. Completely out of the blue. I knew damn well what they were and I was grateful for the correction, but in no way was I going try to pass them off as anything other than what they were.
This jackass is playing word games.
“including two bronze stars on my DD 215 for my overseas duty in Southwest Asia.”
The above quoted statement could actually be true if he changed the word “duty” to “service” thus giving him plausibility to omitting the word service between “bronze” and “star”.
He knows damn well what he is trying to do.
I’m confused. The story has him with 2 bronze stars on his NDSM.
So either he got one each for GWOT, DSDS, and Vietnam era, or Korea, Vietnam, and DSDS era, or he’s fuller of shit than a Thanksgiving turkey.
I’m going with number 3, Bob!
According to the article quote Jonn provided above, he’s 59 today – meaning he was born in either 1956 or 1957. That means he turned 18 in either 1974 or 1975. If he joined the military prior to August 1974, he could theoretically have the NDSM w/2 service stars.
I’d say that’s unlikely, but it is theoretically possible.
But…if he joined in ’74 or ’75 his 21 years equal ’95 or ’96 and not eligible for the current period.
Had to have entered on active duty prior to 15 Aug 1974 to qualify for the Vietnam NDSM.
The timing works if he had one or more breaks in service totaling about 8 years, but rejoined the Army/USAR/ARNG after each. That would give him 21 years total service. Assuming some of his service was in a TPU or on active duty during the GWOT period (2001-present), that scenario would include service in 3 different NDSM periods.
True, True. But he seems to be only representing his service in DSDS which seems odd from a normal point of view, or normal for stolen valor.
No argument there. And I’d be surprised if his NSDM w/2 stars turns out to be legit, either.
But it’s theoretically possible, and I can’t rule it out without more info.
Joe Gainey of the Gainey Cup sent the example for him with Jumping Joe’s NDSM claims.
Right, Claw? ?
Sadly, it seems wiser to maintain a healthy cynicism when a politician claims that “He values honesty, integrity, responsibility, and community.”
George Rosario – Hypocritical liar.
Why do these folks with otherwise honorable service feel compelled to defecate on themselves?
If he is elected, that will be his punishment. You couldn’t find a bigger shithole than this little hamlet! The mayors mansion is a double wide!

Well, IMO Copenhagen and other smokeless tobacco is indeed pretty foul. But I don’t think it’s quite that foul. (smile)
Must be taking his cues from a couple of DRG member in Florida that know all about Stolen Valor. They are probably “unofficial” advisors to GEORGE ROSARIO’s campaign (Stolen Valor Affairs).
Or a consultant for All-Points Logistics.
I wonder if the False Commander “Phony” Phil Monkress has contributed to this clown’s campaign?
Groveland FL IS just a hop, skip, and a jump away from Merritt Island, just sayin’…
What he meant to say was that he qualified for the purple “hurt”, which he received after an unusually intense jerk-off session in a field latrine in Saudi. Both his staff and his wife were understandably confused.
Well, let’s see now…by his logic, I should have a Silver Star and at least five Bronze Stars.
Yeah, no, fucker. That ain’t how it works, and you know it. And don’t even try to play the 215 card for the PH.
Clown.
Attributed this to FoW.
(Fog of War)
Besides the currently claimed medals, he is trying to get a Round Tuit.
Once he gets a Round Tuit, he will have a SS and CMOH.
Hack gave up on ever seeing that Navy Commendation that he was told he would get after 3 1/2 years at III MEF, but I’ll be damned if I don’t till my last breath for that coveted Precious Metals Recovery Expert Badge. When Hack left the firing line, he left no brass behind.
I used to pick up cigarette butts.
No butts left behind.
I probably could have gotten a medal but satisfaction is my reward.
Groveland, is that anywhere near Ft. Myers? I wonder if he’ll “lawer up”?
HEY, I just googled it. LO AND BEHOLD, Groveland FL is just a hop, skip and a jump away from Merritt Island. Coincidence? I wonder if he’s not part of some Veterans M/C known for posers and embellishers?
Once again, another phony shitbag that belongs to a couple of military organizations.
“George is also a member of several local organizations, including the Veterans of Foreign Wars, in which he served as District Judge Advocate, the Masonic Order, and the American Legion, where he serves as Judge Advocate.”
http://www.georgerosarioforgrovelandmayor.com/meet-george
And he retired as a Sergeant after 21 years of service?
“Masonic Order”? Never heard of that, I’ve always heard of it as a Mason, Scottish Rite,…
He’s having an event tonight at 7. Too bad some of you couldn’t show up to confront him. I’m sure the media will be there. Wouldn’t that be great to have some real soldiers read him the riot act in front of the media. I’m sure that would go viral.
There is simply no excuse for stolen valor! I will never vote for this valor thief. He is a disgrace to every veteran who served honorably. I served 20 years. If he were on active duty faking his medals, he would be thrown out of the service.
So sad
Semper fi
Why now someone questioned his credentials?
What is the QUAL Bad/Army Reserve Components Achievement MDL? Is this given to reservists? This guy has never mentioned being in the reserves. He also claims to have retired from the transit authority in Philly. Looking at this it seems that the numbers don’t add up.
Personally, I think he was a military driver reservist. He is a disabled veteran who pays no property taxes and claims to own a cleaning and construction company but has no business license. And he does the construction work himself; so much for being disabled. I bet the IRS would love that bit of information.
He has police reports showing he beats his wife and daughters. He tried to run his wife, daughter and granddaughter off the road because he didn’t want them driving his vehicle. He told his wife the he could kill all of them and get away with it because he is a crazy vet.
He tried to dismantle the police department via petition because they responded to 911 calls placed by his family. He was escorted out of council meetings for disrupting the proceedings when drunk. He claimed racism and profiling when he was pulled over by an officer while driving buzzed. The officer was also Hispanic but his mushy brain couldn’t comprehend this. If you disagree with anything he says you are a racist, prejudiced against veterans or both.
George claims to be fluent in English and Spanish. Try to read what he writes or better yet just listen to him speak and try not to go cross eyed trying to comprehend. With or without his teeth in, it doesn’t matter.
We filed for his records, hopefully we’ll have some answers soon.
