Congrats on the 10th Anniversary of TAH and Thank You for all you do in regards to the site.
The “W” flag just went up at Wrigley Field after a 5-0 whuppin of that team from down south who shall not be named.
So it’s a good day. Everybody sing “Go Cubs Go, Go Cubs Go.”
since I think it only counts if it is called, and I did not see anyone calling it, I call “First”
Happy Birthday John
ARGH Hate it when I do that… Happy Birthday Jonn…. I guess I will have to send you some more jerky for that mess up.

Happy Birthday to you Jonn and to the Weekend Open Thread!!!
Thanks you for all you and many others do to keep TAH on the air 5X5!!!
Happy BD TAH & Jonn! Glad the DRG hasn’t comethed and tripped all the Claymores.
Happy birthday and thanks for giving me a place to vent.
I have no idea how this ended up as a reply to your post. I swear I hit the reply at the bottom.
Happy Birthday, young man. Many more to come.
Didn’t you reach a new Decade? If so, you should have designated yourself as “First” on WOT, even though this is your Blog. ?
Thank you for serving our country! ?
Happy Birthday Jonn and TAH! I don’t know what I would do without my daily dose of Feel Good stories. Thanks for all you do!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU

*Jet fuel cant fuel a plane if it’d not in the fuel tank*
Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary!
You helped me get my daughter away from a poser, thank goodness we caught him early and only because I read TAH. She is in the Air National Guard (as is my youngest son) and has been married for 3 years to a great guy (who joined the Army National Guard after they got engaged) and they have a 20-month old son, our first grandchild.
Thanks so much for what you do!
It’s Fair season in many parts of the country.
While I was at the Big E a couple of years ago, I wouldn’t wish that traffic on anyone.
Except Bernath.
But near home? Biggest attraction at the Fair?
Three words: School. Bus. Derby. Yes, you read that right. And yes, it is awesome.
Feliz cumpleanos y Feliz aniversario Sargento.
100 ???
Beat me to it…I was 103…oh well.
I think you beat me ?
Happy birthday, Jonn!
James Walls, phony UH-1 pilot still works balls.
Happy Birthday, Good Sir.
Happy Anniversary, This Ain’t Hell.
Chevalier, still waiting for you to come through the Pineywoods and please make sure you have eaten your required seven pounds of cheese so you have enough energy to crawl back from the beating you are most deserving of.
Wickre, drink your three bottles of cheap wine, so you can say you were thoroughly snockered and afraid of the mailbox.
Wittenfield, pack up your chute nice and tight so that when we finish wrapping your ass in it, we can just throw you into the middle of the ocean. Hear that the sharks love to gnaw on all kinds of junk food.
Monkress, realize you are no saint, but you are still full of grade A Florida manure.
And lastly Bernath, you disbarred worthless patsy of a lawyer…you need to be afraid of a coconut-bearing bush.
Aw, to the five above mentioned flakes, go fuck yourselves…you mess with Jonn, you mess with all of us. Have a nice day when we come to give you what you rightfully deserve.
No, not a beating…I wouldn’t want to waste my hands on you guys. Just get together, send out a sign…and we will gladly throw you some bread loaves and you can make the crispiest grilled cheese sandwiches, provided Dennis doesn’t eat it all first, when we napalm your asses.
Awesome
Very well stated, Pineywoods NCO…
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Jonn, and a Happy Anniversary to TAH! My dumbass curiosity has gotten the best of me again, I wonder just HOW MANY of those exposed here over the past decade have blustered and threatened to sue TAH out of existence for telling the truth? They have tried and ALL HAVE FAILED.
Happy Birthday and Thank You for this website.
You have no idea how finding it a few years ago was such a perfect event at a really down time for me. This is the first website I open with my coffee every morning!
As usual, Ol’ Poe is late to the party but anyway, Happy Birthday, Jonn, and Happy Anniversary to TAH; may you both have many more.
And, Jonn, this old soldier in particular is deeply indebted to you for providing him with a platform for his rants.
Thank you again Jonn and a great Happy Birthday to my “safe space”…TAH. Thank you for the opportunity to meet so many brothers and sisters in arms and in my mind, right thinkers. We discuss, sometimes disagree but we share something few other groups do. The bond of service to our country and it means more to me than I can say. Not many forums that would even deal with the issues you bring us and even less that would tolerate postings such as mine at times. So, thanks again, have a great weekend and I look forward to ten more great years.
Since it’s nearing the end of September, I am completing my Autumn Cleaning this weekend.
Dinner will be a-fixin’ while I’m finishing up and getting stuff put away for winter. That means laundering all summer clothes before I put them in storage and fixing food.
Dinner will be BBQ beans with chopped onion and smoked sausage, cornbread, cut-up veggies on the side, and turtle cheesecake for dessert, plus maybe a bit of brie, bread, and that last bottle of Lost Cellars white, which I have been holding for a while.
If you go out to watch the geese migrate, watch the way they change leaders. The lead goose takes about 20 wing flaps and then moves back while one behind on the left or right side of the leader moves up to take her place. Also note that they do not flap wings in unison. They alternate. If the goose ahead has wings in the upright position, the next goose behind has them either halfway down or fully deployed downward.
Life is good in my kingdom. It is now snowing in Utah, Wyoming and Colorado.
More later.
“It is now snowing in Utah, Wyoming and Colorado.” And just a little bit of the fluffy stuff mixed in with our rain here in my part of the Snake River Valley the past couple of days.
However my sources back in Indiana tell me that this year’s persimmon crop has not yet ripened enough to do any seed slicing, so am not able to do any winter weather predictions for the upcoming season.
So, bands on wooly worms be damned. Persimmon seeds are the only true way to look into the crystal ball and say what the upcoming winter will be like./sarc
I have two predictions from the Almanacs.
OFA says beastly cold in the UPPER Midwest, meaning Minnesota, and slightly above normal with lots of snow in my area (Lower Lakes). If it hits -40F at International Falls, that would not be unusual.
FA says bitter cold for the entire area, as low as -40F. That would not be simply unusual where I live, it would be bizarre. The two worst winters ever here were at Great Lakes in 1972 and Chicago 1985 (-25F, wind chill -40f).
But you can get the projections for the long-range forecasts at both the Old Farmers Almanac and Farmers Almanac sites online, and they both have their almanacs available now.
http://farmersalmanac.com/
http://www.almanac.com/
I haven’t seen the persimmon forecasts yet, either, but I keep looking.
Well, my hometown source has three trees pretty well spread out on his farm, so he does a triple comparison before issuing his prediction.
I’ll let you know the minute he publishes the results.

I was gonna post a link to something smartass like Happy Happy Joy Joy Industrial Heavy Metal version, but then I remembered that you don’t just provide us this blog to run our sumps on, but actually fight the fight and have to stand up in court over it on occasion.
So, anyway, happy birthday.
And thanks.
It’s odd but I believe my first time coming over to this blog was in 2011 or 2012 while I was still in the Army. If I remember right I was at Bethesda naval medical center now Walter Reed. It’s amazing how time flys Lol….
Started becoming a regular in late 2013-2014 by 2015 I was addicted Lol…
I’ve already said it but HAPPY BIRTHDAY TAH and JONN
THANK YOU for a TON of informative reads and laughs
Skippy: What did you do at Bethesda? I was there 72-77 as a Corpsman.
I was in the hospital getting chopped up and then they send me to NiCo across the street after a pow-wow at DHCC then to Maddigan at Lewis then WTBU at home then the Boot aka retirement..
crap forgot about the hospital in Germany and a short stay at Ft Huachca to start off with
Long story
Do tell one day if you would like. I personally pick up little nuances in everyone’s posts over time. Always enjoying the guessing of who / where / when of others service. So many unique stories and I love it when I hear the tidbits now and then. Your posts included.
Had a bo-bo and trucked with it, and it almost cost me everything
One of the three reasons I have no empathy for turds that lie to get something
Happy birthday, Jonn! And… you now have a birthday partner.
Baby farmboy was born last night at 8:52 pm, weighing in at 9lb 5oz and at 22 inches long with head circumference of 15 inches. We are all doing extremely well and over the moon with our little boy. Fingers and toes all where they’re supposed to be!
Good job!
Outstanding!

9 lbs 5 0z….Wow! Bruiser. Congrats.
Woot! Congratulations momma!
My Heartiest Congratulations. Good to know all is well.
At almost 9 and a half pounds, that young’un sounds like he’s ready to pick up a sling blade and get to working on cleaning out the fence line/smile.
Well done, Mom! Congrats, enjoy the wee one, and the heartiest of solicitations to all involved.
Congrats ? ? ? ? ? ?
Congratulations to the new addition to the family!
Congrats. Good to hear that everything is fine.
And if you think life was a “wild ride” before, well, . . . . (smile)
Army looks to go 4-0 this evening. Game is on ESPN3 this evening at 7:00. Those other guys have a bye this week, after barely escaping Tulane. GO ARMY! BEAT NAVY!
Anyone with tix to this year’s Army-Other Guys game in Baltimore this year, I hate you.
I’ll go along with that by predicting Army over Buffalo by a minimum of three touchdowns.
And now for something completely different – Natalie Portman is HOT.
My Bubblehead bud sends a meme that says there has never been a Facebook post on Army beating Navy because FB didn’t exist the last time Army won. Smart ass.
10-0 Army. Buffalo still has hope.
Duke beat Notre Dame. The last time that happened JFK was president. And to add insult to injury, the Dukies beat the Used-to-Be’s in South Bend. Ouch.
Army 13-6. 4th quarter.
Army 20-6. Hope is beginning to fade for Buffalo.
Army needs to pump it up before time runs out to get another TD to match my prediction.
Get with the program, Plebes !!
Uh-oh. Army 20 Buffalo 20
What?? Dipshit 2LT’s.
No wonder half the homeless population of the US are 2LT’s that started out on a Land Nav Course.
It gets worse. With :08 seconds remaining, Army had to kick a 34 yarder to win. The kicker, all 140 lbs of him, missed w/o excuse. Gaaaaaaaaaddddddddddaaaaammmmmmmmmmmit!
No more updates. Damit.
Just saw the final score.
That’s what we get for watching the pot boil.
I iterate. Dipshit 2LT’s.
That sounds like something my Bubblehead son would do to me and his brother.
Don’t give him any ideas./smile
I learned something today. At about 0230 I awoke wondering if submarines have an anchor?
My fast attack Bubblehead bud says, why yes, they do but they’re not used much. Now I’m wondering when one would see a Sub hanging off an anchor?
Yes, us geezers think about odd things. Can’t wait to try and weave this nugget of info into conversation.
Your mind, like mine, is a terrible thing. That’s a scream, do subs have anchors? Who thinks of shit like that?
Geezers
My Bubblehead bud, who I’m trying to get here on TAH because he’d fit right in, because he is weird, but in a nice way, says: “The only time we used it was for swim call in the islands”.
Oh? Someone thinks that such a query is odd??
Not so. That sort of pondering is exactly what brought us most of the greatest inventions ever. Or maybe it was what folks needed to wage wars. Or something.
Hummm.
SJ…Funny you should mention it.
I remember being anchored off several places on both my boats, most notably Maui, Majuro, and Pattaya Beach, Thailand.
The last was interesting because the anchor got stuck. Couldn’t raise it, couldn’t lower it. We had to stay in Thailand an extra 4 days waiting for a dive team to cut it loose and retrieve it so we could fix it in Guam.
Ah, good times.
Follow on pondering: ok, a sub has an anchor. Can it use the anchor whilst submerged?
My Bubble head bud said: There would be no need to we can control depth and hold position with the rudder, fair water planes, and screw. I said: Yeah but it would be cool to just hang there and chill? (I’m just stirring shit up…that’s what geezers do).
That’s it for the weekend. AMF.
“That sort of pondering is exactly what brought us most of the greatest inventions ever.” You mean like Slinky, the favorite of girls and boys? Or the super ball, in which a chemist. after yet another failure, cursed, threw his concoction against a wall, and stormed out. A moment later, the janitor walked past the lab and heard “Boing! Boing! Boink! Ga-boink” and said to no one, “What the hell is that?” He peeked in and saw the ball of rejected plastic bouncing all over the lab. And the rest is history.
And, I think, Post-It notes?
Ah, Post-It notes. What happened was a housewife grew tired of the stuff all over her Kelvinator and said to no one, “There just has to be a better way.” (Inventors frequently talk to no one in particular.) Anyway, she took an envelope, folded it back, licked the glue, and stuck it on the Kelvinator. Her husband came home and said, “What the hell is that Harriet?” She explained it to him and he said, “But the glue sticks too well. There has to be a better way.” Harriet said, “Sure, Ozzie, but they already invented magnets.” Ozzie replied, “No, I was thinking more of Post-It notes.” Harriet said, “What?” Ozzie’s eyes opened wide and he exclaimed, “Exactly!” And the rest is history.
Now wait just a gol-darned moment.
I have it on good authority that it was Romy White who invented Post-Its and it was her friend Michele Weinberger that decided they would be yellow.
How did the Nelsons’ get their fingers in the pie? Did Ricky have something to do with it?
Or the Ronco Pocket Fisherman. Everybody just had to have one of those./sarc
I’m still in the mindset of the P-38/John Wayne being one of the greatest military inventions of all time.
Err, I have one in the motorhome basement. Had you and 3/17 not entertained us so well, we would have dabbled it in the Snake River.
No Sweat. I’ve got full sized, ready for river fishing, rigs already set up here just waiting for your return.
Speaking of the motorhome, how did the deal on the generator turn out? Did you repair it or DX it?
Great shop here in the AO and $1200 and the stator/rotor was fixed. Runs like a top.
Okay. Good deal.
Was that Ronco?
I always thought it was Popiel.
Ron Popiel was the name of the guy who invented it, but his manufacturing company was called Ronco.
Either way would be okay.
Ah! The Staley ball! I had two of those. They were great for playing jacks!
Don’t fear the commies!
WTF ???
That was especially for Comrade Lars Poodledick.
Lars
BHWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ! ! ! !
He is a Commie Lol…
Indeed.

Happy Birthday Jonn
Longmire is a great show. Now just have to wait for season 6 next year.
Golf legend Arnold Palmer has died at age 87. He was a veteran of the Coast Guard serving for 3 yrs.
