Marquez facing gun charges
Dave sends us a link to Reuters which reports that the feds are considering charges against Enrique Marquez, the pal of the jihadist couple in the San Bernadino terrorist attack. It looks like he illegally made a straw purchase of the rifles used in the attack. It also appears that Marquez and the male jihadist had plotted a terrorist attack in 2012, but, for some reason backed down from their plans.
Marquez, who had known Farook since they were teenage neighbors in the city of Riverside, legally purchased the two AR-15 assault-style rifles that the couple used in their attack on a holiday party of Farook’s co-workers.
[…]
FBI Director James Comey on Wednesday said there was no evidence that the San Bernardino attackers, who were also inspired by Islamic State, had been part of a terrorist cell.
Neighbors said Marquez and Farook often worked together on cars in Farook’s garage in their younger years but that the friendship had cooled in the past three years.
Of course, this is what the left has been waiting for – a mass shooting that involved the use of scary-looking black rifles. According to The Hill, the Democrats have introduced a reincarnated version of the Clinton-era “assault weapon ban” so that, for some reason that escapes me, they won’t have their senses disturbed by the legality of bayonet studs and flash suppressors.
“Now, let’s remember that assault weapons were first designed for the battlefield by Germans during the Second World War,” said Rep. David Cicilline (D-R.I.), who is leading congressional efforts to ban these types of guns. “The sole purpose of their existence was to kill as many people as quickly as possible during military combat.”
The Assault Weapons Ban of 2015 introduced Wednesday by Cicilline would target semi-automatic and other military-style guns. It would ensure that no such weapons are manufactured for consumer use, while placing new restrictions on the sale of already existing assault weapons.
The legislation is backed by about 90 Democratic co-sponsors, but has no hope of passing through Congress, given opposition from Republicans.
Good. I hope they stick with their principles on this issue and try to scare the American public with their images of Germans and Nazis. This isn’t a winning issue for them.
Under the legislation, gun owners who already have assault weapons would be allowed to keep them, but they could face challenges reselling them.
The bill would intensify background checks for people looking to buy any of the estimated 8 million to 9 million assault weapons that are already in circulation.
Nothing like influencing Americans to go out and make a record number of purchases ahead of the Democrats’ ill-conceived proposition.

So looks like Dave and 90 of his buddies have picked their hill to die on.
Hope it goes as well for them as it did for Demoncrats back in 1994 with their last “assault weapons” ban
Saw an ad from one of the online sellers yesterday or the day before, that basically said get em now, in case they’re banned. Once again, the dems are proving to be great firearms sales
menpeople.“FBI Director James Comey on Wednesday said there was no evidence that the San Bernardino attackers, who were also inspired by Islamic State, had been part of a terrorist cell.”
So where did all that money they deposited in the bank come from?
Last week I read that Mr. Terrorist borrowed it from an online bank – legit – the bank had no idea what he was up to.
Source confirming the “borrowed” part, please? All I’ve seen was that the transaction originated from an online bank – but what I saw indicated that the bank refused to divulge the reason for the transfer or the source of funds.
Not saying you’re wrong. It’s possible I missed that.
Disregard – found it.
My question is how a husband, wife and straw purchaser/bomb hobbiest doesn’t fit the definition of cell? Sounds like the classic definition of 3 to 5 terrorists…
Someone in the FBI needs to read Galula.
That is pure unadulterated BULLSHYT!
I don’t know how this shitbag doesn’t get the book thrown at his ass. He is literally the definition of a straw buyer. Not to mention the weapons he bought have a well document body count attached to them. But of course all my firearms are the real issue according retarded members of congress, right?
And he probably intended on participating in the 2012 aborted attack. Farook wasn’t married then, so who would the second AR-15 be for?
UUUHHHM, one look at the dump truck loads of existing laws that were broken in the planning and execution of this attack tells me that more laws won’t do JACK SHIT to prevent others in the future.
On the link at “The Hill” the pictured weapon has several highly offensive features: a collapsible buttstock, a pistol grip, a carry handle, a plastic foregrip, black barrel, and a bayonet lug. The flash hider was removed. I am very happy that they were sensitive to my trigger items and removed that hideous flash hider. They should have covered those other appallingly offensive items with cardboard so I wouldn’t get the vapors. Of course then it would look like a lunch box.

He was a straw buyer. He was a conspirator in an earlier cancelled attack.
And the Feds are “considering” charges? Okay, even if he wasn’t a direct conspirator in this attack, fucker broke the law by making a straw purchase that supplied the shitbags. For that alone he should do hard time, at least according to the Law. If the dems want to “do something” so badly, then ENFORCE THE FUCKING LAW, ASSHOLES!! He’s culpable of a serious firearms violation! Jam his ass all the way up! Why is this even being discussed? It’s open and shut!
Of course, if they go after this guy for straw purchases, they might have to go after BATFE for doing the exact same fucking thing.
Outlaw guns and all we have left is pipe bombs.
Not true. We also have ANFO in trucks, other IEDs, and knives. Plus portable propane tanks, pressure cookers (used in Boston), dynamite – and a host of other things that can be used to kill wholesale under the right circumstances by someone with evil intent.
Explosives and blades – like firearms – are only inanimate tools; they can be used either for evil or for good. The human using them determines which.
Evidently this guy doesn’t fit the narrative; apparently he’s not white, Christian, a tea party member, from the south, or whatever criteria they are using this week to determine eligibility for prosecution. Personally, I don’t care if he’s any, all or none of those things – if he violated the law (it seems pretty obvious that he did), he deserves to be prosecuted. Period.
These lefties are very good at manipulating things. I seriously do not like being manipulated. But, even though I have had no desire to be a collector of firearms, the more vocal they are about “sensible gun control,” the more inclined I am to start collecting firearms. And having a vault in which to display them. Maybe a bunker for ammo storage. All just because I can.
Before starting my collection I want to know which of those lefties are stockholders in the various firearms companies. How many of them gain financially from their screeching about “gun violence?” Really. I don’t want any of them to get a dime from my investment in a new collection.
We’re moving further into exciting times, aren’t we? Almost Napoleonic-era, in fact. The petty dictator stuff, the squalling and squawking about -whatevah- just gets louder and louder, and when the SH and IT really do hit the fan, who will those whiny cowards go running to?
I’ll leave this here. It’s a good read.

This is starting to piss me off! I have a couple of purchases I’m intending to make in the near future but this crap keeps the prices high. I used to be able to time it and buy when the pric s dipped in between tragedies and the push for bans but now they’re just staying up there.
Freaking frustrating
