Venezuela’s anti-communists win mid-term elections in landslide

Venezuela

I’m thinking that the landslide victory over communism in Venezuela should be bigger news than it is today. Apparently not, though. Even Fox News has largely ignored it. Venezuela used to be one of the largest oil producers in the region until the government appropriated the drilling and refinery process. Now, even toilet paper is at a premium in the country. Anyway, the opposition to the Maduro regime won 99 seats in the 166-seat legislature with 22 more seats up for grabs. The anti-communists need 13 more seats for a super-majority, according to the Associated Press;

The opposition coalition needs to take 13 of the 22 remaining races to give it a two-thirds supermajority. That would allow it to pass major legislation, sack Supreme Court justices or convene a convention to rewrite Chavez’s 1999 constitution.

The victory is likely to fuel demands for President Nicolas Maduro to free jailed opponents and roll back socialist policies during what could be a period of intense political conflict in a deeply polarized country mired in economic crisis.

The streets of the Venezuelan capital of Caracas broke out in shouts of joy, fireworks and car honking after National Electoral Council President Tibisay Lucena announced the partial results six hours after polls closed.

Within seconds, Maduro recognized the opposition’s win, saying that despite an adverse result, Venezuela’s democracy had triumphed. But he recalled the long history of US-supported coups in Latin America in blaming the “circumstantial” loss on a conservative “counterrevolution” trying to sabotage the oil-dependent economy and destabilize his rule,

Yeah, your communist ideology destabilized your rule, fool.

Good news. Hopefully the opposition will get the other 13 seats they need to roll back Chavez’s communist idiocy.

I was reading about this earlier on BBC News. They at least had decent coverage of it. Apparently the win comes after Venezuala’s inflation rate has gone up 100% over the last year.

Hopefully this win will start to correct their issues. But I doubt it.

David

One can only hope that the Socialist BS Chavez inflicted on the Venezualans can be undone before they starve… what’s left, the remnants of Evo Morales? Even France had an election this weekend which went to the rightists.

Seems like there are only a few deluded places on the planet which still believe in Socialist policies… North Korea and the White House.

Well, well, well… reality bites. That must hurt.

Which is exactly what will have to happen to us, for this country to get it’s head out of it’s rear orifice.

Socialism and Communism have failed each and every time but liberals and their “useful idiots” always want to try it just one more time! Meh, isn’t doing the same thing repeatedly while expecting different results every time the very definition of insanity? Liberalism is a mental Disorder and we see liberals proving it 24/7/365!

Here’s a reality check for Venezuela, as well as other oil-producing countries. OPEC will no longer put a production ceiling (# of bbls per day) on crude oil

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-oil-forwards-prices-idUSKBN0TQ17520151207#mkKoIBla4vb1Ul2Z.97

What this means in real terms is that, because there is a glut of crude, the predicted prices (a/k/a put options) are going to fall as low as $25 to $35/bbl. These are 1960s prices for crude oil.

The Saudis may be doing it partly to undermine ISIS/Daesh’s ability to sell its stolen crude to Turkey, because if Erdogan can get cheaper prices elsewhere, I’m sure he will do so.

The irony is that bodaprez, in his LACK OF WISDOM, is mandating additional ethanol in fuel supplies, to stretch the oil supply. WE have a surplus of crude oil. There is a glut on the market. (Read the article.)

WHAT G##@!%#MN SURPLUS IS THAT MARONE TALKING ABOUT?

And you guys wonder why he repeatedly says the stoopid things he says.

Ex-PH2

AAAAH! Forgot to proofread!

‘SURPLUS’ should be ‘SUPPLY’.

My bad, sorry, very sorry. Too annoyed, let my fingers get away from me.

But you get my drift, right?

BigJohn

Who is MARONE? I never heard of him.

Ol’ Hugo would’ve just rigged the election.

Charles

Just reported at the daily briefing of Department of State, the administration strongly speaks that this election was not open and rigged. The will of the people were not listened to during this election, and the United States strongly demands that the election in Venezuela be retaken again. This time with international observers to make sure that the elections are free and open to the needs and wants of the people.

NR Pax

And the elections will continue until the correct result is achieved.
