Hilbert Gibbs; phony Marine
Someone sent their research on this Hilbert Gibbs fellow. He claims to be an 11-year Marine in this article about his Barbecue joint in Tampa, Florida.
Apparently, he’s living in New England now and a year ago last June, he appeared with Westerly-Pawcatuck Veterans Board of Control honor guard in Rhode Island;
Yeah, that’s a pretty sad looking honor guard. It looks like central casting’s idea of Vietnam veterans, but it’s Rhode Island, so….
But, Hilbert says that he’s a secret squirrel and we’ll never find his records. He’s done things like dig through the ruins of the World Trade Center and help the citizenry of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. He may have, but not as a Marine – the Corps says “Who?”;
That means he doesn’t have a DD214 on file at the National Personnel Records Center, and no matter how secret squirrel you are, you have a DD214 at the National Personnel Records Center.

Is that a Gamo Air Rifle he is toting? In one photo it looks like you can see the grove in the forestock where the barrel breaks and pivots. In another photo you can see a plastic cutaway shoulder stock.
Yeah, a Gamo or some similar make & model. I looked through the linked pics of that “Honor Guard” and when it comes to D & C, Hilbert Gibbs looks more 8UP than a chocolate dildo in a crowded gay bar on Valentine’s Day!
I wonder who initiated the research on Mr. Gibbs… was it another member of the honor guard, a family member who had to witness the ceremony, etc?
Above, I typed “grove” when I meant to type “groove”
sure as hell isn’t that Gamo Contractor linked… it’s almost a shotgun looking forend. I think you are mistaking the accent line in the checkering for the actual forend outline. Not sure what the hell is it, but it ain’t that Gamo.
Yeah, I am no air rifle expert. I only know Gamo is a popular brand that has a barrel breakover action. Here is another link showing the air rifle I linked to earlier. With description goodness. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000W2115Y
Once back at my computer, I did some looking around. I am convinced that the rifle he is holding is a Benjamin Trail NP as seen here:
http://www.airgundepot.com/benjamin-trail-1k77snp.html
There are more photos of Gibbs holding it in the newspaper article above which helped me reach this conclusion. In one photo you can see the right hand side of the receiver. There is no bolt. The shoulder stock seems to be an exact match on the left side. The profile of the barrel also seems to match the profile of the rifle he is holding at crotch rest.
Good grief. The female holding the flag is the only one somewhat squared away.
I wish I had my FM 22-5 to identify the position that ole Hibert is in in the picture where he is at something like Present Arms. YGBSM.
They dare to call THAT an Honor Guard? I think we’ve seen other poser groups that they make look squared away! The older fellow with the 3ID patch and rifle looks like the stereotype Vet character from the Tom Hanks comedy “The ‘Burbs”!
Word.
They look weak.
That old timer with the 3rd ID patch (if legit himself) should reach over and but stroke that fat fuck.
The old man with the 3ID patch is sporting plenty of 8TFU himself. He’s wearing the “US Army” tape over his right pocket, that IS NOT a U.S. Army Infantry cord on his field jacket, and it looks like he has USMC E6 rank sewn on his sleeve as well. It also looks like he’s sporting a USMC cover with some shiny decoration, and WTF does he think he’s doing wandering around a public gathering with a fixed bayonet? It looks to me like every one of them have stripped-out gearboxes in their heads as well as bats in their belfries!
Looks like the Army crest from the front of their saucer cap (I know, Army uses different lingo)
I have to respectfully disagree with you on that, the Army Enlisted and NCO crest is on a brass disc, and Officers have an insignia that isn’t inside of a circle, the AF has a silver crest like that. It looks like to me that it’s either an AF Officer’s crest or something that’s not even US Military issue, period.
Nope. Not an AF Officer’s crest. An officer’s crest doesn’t have the circle around it. Maybe AF enlisted–I can’t seem to enlarge the photo to get a better look.
Don’t give him a hard-time about his bayonet.
His mother put it on for him before he left home and told him not to play with it until he got home. And that if he was a good boy she would give him something else to play with when he got home.
I just hope he doesn’t put his or someone else’s eye out with it, it looks to me like he’s not firing on all of his cylinders, and DITTO with Fatboy McMedals sporting the white pistol belt & holster!
API, the Bruce Dern look-alike in the non regulation field jacket with the full color 3ID patch has the Army Vietnam era black camouflaged rank chevrons that were worn on the sleeves before the lapel version chevrons went into effect.
Those type of stripes are readily available on the interwebz for about $9.95 a pair plus S&H.
He, of course, is just another crap weasel poser, as are the other two males in that “Honor Guard.”
What a bunch of complete assbags.
Except the young lady. She looks fairly decent.
The rest of them look like they’re prepping for Halloween from some 5 & 10/goodwill/surplus going out of business joints.
I was on an American legion Honor Guard for a few years and went to Minneapolis MN and won the national drill competition. This looks like a flying steaming pile of S.
The whole lot of ’em needs to review the FM22-5 on D&C.
TC 3-21.5 now
Smitty:
My page hadn’t refreshed when I posted my comment. Sorry for the double tap.
D
Holy cow, I’m old.
And now it’s known as Training Circular 3-21.5.
Everything about this Honor Guard reeks!
I have to ask myself “What’s RIGHT with this gaggle of ragbags?”.
API I agree. If the female was squared away why would she associate with this group?
DITTO that, Tony 180A! They look like Clearance Rack Raiders of a Military Slurpus Store!
Honestly, it looks like we have a whole nest of SV types in that mess… I mean, the medals on the camo, the guy with the 3ID patch, something stinks here.
It ain’t the lady either, she does look like she still has a healthy respect for the uniform.
He looks like he ATE the Marine (uurp).
Rock of the Marne is prepared for a bayonet charge on the buffet line.
All records were lost in the “records fire”.
For someone in the USMC? Or if they served after about 1963? Um, don’t think so.
NPRC’s official position is that no USN or USMC records were destroyed in the 1973 NPRC records repository fire. Further, the newest records destroyed were for individuals USAF with service ending on or before 31 Dec 1963. If the individual “got out” after that point in time, their records were not
unaffectedaffected.“Not unaffected” ???
Do you mean “not affected” ???
Yes – good catch. Thanks.
Happens on occasion when I edit something before hitting the button and one of the desired changes is missed and/or the error is itself correctly spelled. It’s fixed above now.
I wasn’t trying to play “gotcha” and if it appeared that way I apologize. I just was curious. I figgered that is what you meant.
Take care and have a great Friday.

A musical interlude with Elmer:
https://youtu.be/vUZUKRxYalU
Standing at “present arms” while heels are at parade rest and the butt stock of their weapons are braced against their crotch…
Good Grief!!!
And what is “port arms” these day?
Who needs it. Much like the way most of Army policy, its open to individual interpretation.
That is at “Boner Arms”. It happens sometimes when a major influx of Patiotism overcomes you and you cannot help but arise to the occasion.
Serious Stuff I tell you.
Maybe we can get the posers to execute “anal arms”.
Instead of the stock against their crotch, push that muzzle hard against their ass. And I do mean PUSH!
Who folded that flag? What a disgrace!
The whole thing is just embarrassing. Really, it just makes me sick. Again I stress the need to embarrass the gullible phucks that have these kind of impostors attend any kind of veteran related function.
WTF is a Westerly-Pawcatuck Veterans Board of Control? Who are the incompetent nincompoops that run whatever silly cause they represent?
We are veterans, they do not represent us, our service, or honor anything about any of us. May the Flying Fickle Finger of Fate phuck their fallacious fannies.
Someone say Goodnight Dick.
Those sphincter pickles are exhibiting some Weapons Grade STOOPID!!!
Goodnight Dick! 🙂
Often you can’t field the team you want so you have to field the team you have.
Fat boy here is probably hanging out at the retirement home up top looking for easy access to medications.
Turd.
OR some free chow on a regular basis!
I was just at a Boy Scout Court of Honor last night, and I noticed that the veterans in the room were easy to spot, even those like me who simply placed their hands over their hearts during the Pledge – all of us instinctively went to attention, down to the thumbs of our left hands seeking out the seam of our pants.
That is something that becomes ingrained in your mind and you don’t even have to think about anymore.
Two out of three of those pukes never seem to have learned how to stand at attention.
And if you are going to wear a uniform – for the love of all that is holy – don’t just pin whatever the hell you feel like wherever the hell you feel like. Fer cryin’ out loud…
Military veterans are permitted to render the military salute.
https://youtu.be/Ee3mMZ1mIbE
Not like they needed permission to begin with.
At least now we can salute in civvies without some uniform nazi getting his knickers in a knot.
I was taking some Boy Scout leader training years ago. First formation, flag ceremony, etc. Afterward, another participant, whom I’d never seen before in my life, approached me with two words: “What branch?”
Maybe I am getting cynical, but who wants to bet the whole BBQ joint story ids phony too? 11 years in the Corps, followed by the opening of a successful small chain of restaurants, all before the age of 40? Hmmm…
He probably tries to pimp out of it.
To quote Sesame Street: ‘I think one of them is not like the others’.
The Female looks to be the only legit person there.
I realize some ask why is she in that group filled with phonies? Maybe this was their first get-together, and it was at that point she realized she was hanging with phonies of the regular and draft dodging type.
They need to run records al all of them. WTF is up with the fat guy – medals on his cammies and a POW-MIA patch on the shoulder? Some other shiny doo-dad on the right breast pocket?
What a complete cluster – every one of them.
I bet the Quahog, RI Veterans Board of Control is much more squared away. After all Stewie, Peter, Brian, and Glen all served at some point.
Giggity
Ain’t Google Wonderful?
http://patch.com/connecticut/durham/durham-middlefield-police-blotter-feb-15-mar-4
Bad check charge AND violating probation? Yep, military fakery, always the tip of the iceberg.
GEE WHIZ, what a surprise – NOT!!!
Bet you that he loves himself some cockmeat sammiches with manmayo and tubesteak with nut butter!!!
It looks like he’s been the “property” of Bubba, Thor, “Tiny” and Leroy sometime in the past, and it looks like he will be in the future!
Ah, the old “I was a supper secret squirrel and my records are classified/destroyed/locked away because everything I did you can’t know about” defense. But yet he will tell people stories all day about his daring do even though it’s so classified you aren’t supposed to know about it. I wish people would be smart enough to catch this disconnect in his stories. Well, I guess someone was smart enough, that’s why this dumb ass is here.
Like others have stated here earlier, the only one who appears to be a genuine vet in that so-called “honor guard” is the female; the rest looks like a bunch of make-believe clowns direct from central casting; this is pathetic…
Tubby-boy McMedals with the white pistol belt and holster looks like another good candidate for an FOIA’ing as well. He and Gibbs look like highly accomplished jelly doughnut assassins!
API, I’d bet a $1 against a Doz of those jelly fat pills that FOI would come back…WHO??
NO BET!!! 😀
Am I the only one who thinks the other people in the photos should have been cropped out? I mean at least the old gal! Considering this thread has a stolen valor tag. He’s a phony and getting attention he wants, great. But the others? Do we know anything about them? Guilt by association is easy to run with especially on the internet.
I don’t know, just seems the responsible thing to do.
Judging from their appearance, demeanor and posture as well as the gaggle-fart collage of surplus store clearance items they’re wearing, I have doubts about any of them being legit Vets except for the female.
Doubts =\= proof.
Not my blog, just seems nothing is lost by being considerate and cautious.
Sometimes one needs to be “considerate and cautious”, but when I see jokers parading around looking like that, I call BULLSHIT on them right then and there. I’m an Army Vet with three overseas tours under my belt and I wouldn’t be caught DEAD parading around in a clownlike gagglefucked excuse of a uniform like what all but one of them are wearing. Jut look at pics of posers outed on TAH and some of the crap they were seen wearing, it’s a lot like what these Surplus Store Clearance Rack Commandos are sporting!
Check the last link in the article. Those photos have already been published on a newspaper web site, along with a photo caption listing the individuals’ names. Publishing them here in redacted form would not exactly do much to protect anyone’s privacy.
It’s not a privacy concern so much as a potential guilt by association type consideration. Just seems the decent thing to do. He’s the topic of discussion not the other vets or the elderly.
The decent thing to do is to cross your legs, Clong.
I don’t get it.
I have no doubt you don’t.
Sorry, my mind isn’t stuck in grade school.
Still stuck in kindergarten, eh?
I wish. I’d love to have nap time again.
Clongie, do you have ANY Military Service under your belt? And NO, High School JROTC doesn’t count. I and many other TAH regulars have an issue with people wearing clownish excuses of Military uniforms. Many of us are Vets with Overseas Service, and some of us served with Comrades that DIED wearing the uniforms of their services that these clowns are making a mockery of for their own self esteem and personal gain.
You can have an issue with it but that doesn’t make it proof of anything. In fact, your admitted bias is reason enough to want to be sure.
Plenty of vets choose to ignore uniform and award(wearing) regulations after their service is up. The simple fact that they aren’t squared away in that regard means nothing. I believe I once saw someone with questionable hair receive the Medal of Honor.
Put simply, the one fellow was proven to be a phony, were the others?
Time will tell, Jiffy-poo!!
Perhaps. Until then they deserve the benefit of the doubt.
Here’s a nice story for you that may prove enlightening. You’ll notice his uniform is not perfectly up to regs.
http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2015/06/harrisburg_stolen_valor_apolog.html
Clong, No, I’m not from Missouri. But I also would like to know. Please answer the man’s (A P, as if you don’t know) question. My guess is others have wondered the same question more than once. A man’s YES or NO will do fine. What little else could we bother to ask? Obviously there is a reason we ask. This is a site where those who have served feel more comfortable knowing they are communicating with a brother. In the past, and even recent, some have mentioned they did not serve. Nothing to be ashamed of, but the truth is appreciated far more than speculation or attempting to insinuate. Don’t be so difficult now that you have been asked.
What question? Concerning military service? I’ve answered that multiple times as well.
Maybe I’m getting older and can not remember you identifying the time, branch and unit in which you served. Apparently A. P. I. has the same loss of memory, otherwise he would not have asked. Please answer the question with specifics and there you have it! No more bothering you with pesky questions, no more wondering on our part. Tell you what, answer all three and you will gladly receive the same information from me if you please…..without hesitation or excuses. Can’t speak for A. P. I., but I’d bet he’d offer you the same of his personal experiences if you asked. It goes without saying, you’d automatically earn and deserve a lot of respect if you did answer the questions. Same if you had been a cook or an administrative
clerk. No comparison to the poser whom this story exposes. Show some courage and accept the fact that the truth will set you free.
Q. “Am I the only one who thinks the other people in the photos should have been cropped out?” Clong the Anonymous
A. Yes.
It’s been over 24 hours since he asked the question. At last count, there were zero other people that gave a shit.
At this time, the answer is still YES.
It’s been over 48 hours since he asked the question. At last count, there were zero other people that gave a shit.
At this time, the answer is still YES.
The photos are garden-variety photojournalism. The other people in the photos are included to provide situational context. Nobody with any common sense would immediately jump to a conclusion that the elderly woman in the wheel-chair, for example, is a co-conspirator with Gibbs in a stolen valor scam.
It might also be pointed out that running the photos in TAH almost certainly falls under fair use including a link back to the original source. Nowhere has there been an attempt to alter the original context by implying, say, that the lady in the wheel-chair is Gibbs’ mom congratulating him on fakery well done, or whatever.
Hmm, situational context. Said pictures were originally printed in an article about a flag raising(i.e. Something positive) and now we have them printed in an article about stolen valor. The context has changed.
Legality was never a concern. Common decency was. If you really think people don’t jump to conclusions like that and quickly, I’d like to congratulate you on your first day on earth 😉 Appearances are often confused for facts, just have to read some of the responses in this topic to see that. Simply put people have jumped to that very conclusion…..maybe they lack common sense though.
Let’s see… there is a bonafide ass-clown there, and a few others that look like Hobos who came up on a Surplus Store. There are also pictures from that event that show Civilians, Boy Scouts, Veteran’s Organization Members and what appear to be bonafide service members.
Thats what I see.
So what you’re saying is that the photo of the burning of the Hindenburg shouldn’t have been taken because somebody might have misinterpreted it as an illegal weinie roast in New Jersey.
Florida again? I’m starting to see a pattern here…
Not Florida this time, that critter migrated to infeast New England!
Ah, but he did start out with the lies in Florida, so it still counts
Yeah.
The old guy probably retired from All-Points Logistics and decided there were was to much competition (other posers) in Florida to garner handouts.
So he left.
What a ragbag outfit! They give the term Motley Crew a whole new meaning! Smile
HEY!
Motley Crue is one hell of a great band!
Fortunately they spell it different. They have their own set of values, but Stolen Valor ain’t one of them.
You sure this isn’t a pilot being tested for potential televisions series called Hogan’s Heroes, but renamed
Dilbert’s Zeroes?
The desert BDU’s (or should I say dessert BDU’s) look too factory fresh to be worn outside in the midday sun. Anyone who’s ever worn them for more time than it takes to purchase them at a church bazaar or Sally-Ann store knows they fade to an almost light yellow-white shade.
Also, every diner counter warrior knows pony tails, full size medals, and white pistol belts are required when wearing brand new out-of-date uniforms.
I fell badly for the woman; she has found herself in bad company. I especially hate it when legitimate veterans get questioned about their legitimacy because of wanna-be’s.
Not “Desert BDU’s”, they’re known as DCU’s, Desert Camouflage Uniform if I’m correct. I see the female wearing what look like leather work gloves while saluting in the pic where it looks like Gibbs is playing pocket pool with the butt of whatever kind of rifle he’s carrying. The more I look at those pics, the less I think of that gaggle of moldy monkeyshits!
You’re probably correct.
I know I’m getting old; the only uniform items I was issued in basic training that still meet the rules are the underpants and socks, even the t-shirts are different.
If only there was a way to keep them from shrinking in the closet.
(Hilbert) Gibbs’ Rules:
Rule #1: “If confronted, double-down on teh sekrrrret squirrrrrrel.”
Rule #6: “Never say you’re sorry. It’s a sign of having a lick of sense.”
One sure fire way of telling if someone was a Marine or not; if he is at Port Arms, and he holds the rifle by the barrel instead of the fore stock.
Who knew it was so difficult to find real veterans!
Real ones are hard to find because there are so few of us these days.
I hear that! These days, we’re what, 5-10% of the US Population?
Really starting to doubt the female as well. Caption from the photo on the new link states she is ‘retired Marine Sgt’. If she was retired, she would be authorized to wear the uniform after completing her service. However, the Marines changed to MARPAT camouflage uniforms SEVERAL years ago (2002 – 2004). For her to be retired with old woodlands, she would have to be a bit older than the 20 years or so she looks. If she is legit, she carries her age VERY well.
She looks pretty young, she may have retired early via medical retirement. Even so, she is a bit young looking.
I thought of med retirement also. But just to have made Sgt prior to 2004 means an initial enlistment mid-90’s. So born in 1980 to enlist in ’98 and make Sgt in 5 years (not easy but doable), still puts her at minimum of 35 today.
Wow. Just. Wow.

Better look at Sooper Seekrit Squirrel’s Sniper Rifle, for those of you debating whether or not it is CO2 or Pump…

I had to look, I just had to look. Oh well, tonight when I drive past the car accident I won’t have to look because I’ve already seen a car accident, no a train wreck, today. That PO3 in the US Navy Cavalry with the Officer’s hat device? I say take him, dressed as he is in the picture, to Newport and see how long he lasts.
Also, I looked at the young woman’s picture again. If, and I stress if, she ever wore a Marine’s uniform, I’m thinking Young Marines or USMC JROTC. Her high school may have been tough enough that if made it feel like active duty.
Yeah, and those gloves she’s wearing in one pic DO NOT look like the ceremonial white gloves I wore when doing Color Guard or Funeral Details. That “Navy Vet” is wearing (If I’m correct)the NDSM, what looks like a Vietnam Service Medal and the third, what, an MSM?
The third medal the “Navy Vet” is sporting is the full sized Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Not available as a regular issued medal through US supply channels since it was a foreign decoration.
Costs big bucks on the interwebz.
LOL whoever wrote a review for that page just got capped out by the leader of that page. He seemed angry telling that person he is a MARINE!
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10204863277809758&set=o.1497432237217610&type=3&theater
Pony-tail douche with Cav hat sporting NAVY crest. Wow.
Oh God why did I let curiosity get the best of me and look at that link….
There is clearly no vetting at this supposed VET organization. The BULLSHIT there I was war stories punctuated with tears by these clowns must truly be award winning! I’d dare say that even other posers are embarrassed by this gaggle-fuck!!!
GOD, Jesus, Joseph, Mary and Haile Selassie, PASS THE BRAIN BLEACH!!! Everyone has the right to be stupid from time to time, but these ass-muffins ABUSE THE DAMNED PRIVILEGE!!!
API, I can’t believe that any real vet would belong to or participate in anything with these obvious fakes!! I’ve got to raise the BULLSHIT FLAG on the Westerly-Pawcatuck Veterans Board of Control.
You and me both! I doubt if any of them even finished ONE full term of enlistment.
That patch the cowboy hat wearing sailor is wearing? Is that a USAF Prime RIBS or a US Navy CB patch? Or, is it, “Hey, this is got to be real because I bought on the interwebs patch?
I’ve seen children wearing military styled clothing with outlandish patches. When I was in elementary school, everyone wore pea coats with fouled anchor buttons. This guy is too much. When you start dressing yourself, it’s time to stop wearing things other people earned.
Honest to God, I think I’ve seem pictures of HIPPIES wearing military clothing that looked more squared away than these fart monkeys!
Page is down or made private.
Dan LaPointe is the guy in the camo outfit with all the Minnie Pearl accoutrements…
I foresee an FOIA in his future.
At least a couple of letters from some of us regarding his mess of a so called uniform.
Lessee, white bootlaces, Cavalry cover, jungle camo, some medals but not the coveted NDSM, I would just about bet that there is some kind of a star on his chest there…
This stinks like oblowme’s breath on a Sunday morning following a Saturday night filled with all sorts of debauchery of a sexual nature with goats etc, etc, etc…
I wonder if this will be a deja-vu. The USS Chicago, on which he claims to have served, was in Viet Nam.
Standing offer: if anyone can come up with Firstname/Middlename/Lastname plus DOB, POB, branch, and approx dates of service (or SSN, branch, and approx dates of service) for any of these . . . “interestingly-dressed” individuals, pass them to me via Jonn and I’ll be happy to file a FOIA.
I’d be particularly interested in info on the . . . fine fellow who seems to enjoy prancing around in front of God and everybody in his costume.
Not to mention wearing Navy enlisted collar tabs and having a Navy Commissioned Officer crest on his Cav hat.
Jimmy Olson here for the Daily Planet while Clark and Lois are doing some odd research in the dark room. She moaned a time or two, so probably they found some interesting pix. Going to do my thing and contact the local newspaper, where ever Dilbert is.
BTW, probably just the conspiracy mind within, but did anyone else notice General Major Triple Chin’s boots were always cropped from the pix? Inquiring minds want to know. Does he or does he not have white patent leather boots to match his almost-real looking combat holster and belt? Hey, do a close up on his pix. Damned if he doesn’t have a combat pony tail. Looks so impressive with all his ribbons. Hell, I’d bet he’s kin to Audie Murphy!
No, he is always wearing black boots but they do have white laces. Poke around on their facebook page (linked in comments above from yesterday).
Thanks AZ; otherwise I’d have never known since Face Book is not my cup of tea.
S/F
Maybe I’m just a dick, but it irks the living dogshit out of me to see people, vets or not wearing a rag tag mish-mash of clothing and decorations.
If you can’t put together a proper DRESS uniform of the era you retired, or a modern one thats within regulation dont fuck it up.
Especially if you weigh 397 pounds and can weave the hair on your chin, head and ass together like a fucking Navajo blanket.
Wear a fucking Veteran’s Organization Polo Shirt and Khakis and a cap. Keep the rank and decorations to a minimum.
DITTO J.O.D., and like I said earlier, I’ve done my fair share of time overseas and I wouldn’t be caught DEAD wearing a monkeyshit mishmash of a uniform like what those yokels are sporting!
I’m the Commandant of a Marine Corps League Detachment. We have an outstanding Honor guard that does 25 – 30 funerals or city functions every year. Our members are everywhere from WWII through the Cold War. None of them ever had to be told how to render port arms, right and left shoulder arms and certainly not present arms. It was drilled into us in boot camp and we never forgot it. The picture of the flag raising and that sloppy rendition of present arms makes me sick. What the hell are they looking up in the air for? Eyes front and focus on the tip of your rifle. The flag will raise or lower if you’re looking at it or not. And the mish mosh of medals and stripes and all that other shit is disgusting. What a sloppy representation of a military honor guard.
Jimmy Olson here again, loud mouth tattle tail for the Hell Raiser’s News (about as legit as most of these posers). Fortunately the following is true and correct. A few minutes ago I called and ratted out this asshole at the top of the page. Spoke with Vice President and Editor Mr. David Tranchida (860-945-8248) (dtranchida@thewesterlysun.com). He seemed to be very interested in the article. He will be a LOT more interested, IMO, if many of you would also make contact with him. Now that we have the attention of the Editor, here’s hoping he will be bombarded by your calls and emails.
My wife & I were at the Texas State Fair yesterday in Dallas. We were on our way out & my wife says, “Did you see that Marine over there?” When I replied in the negative, she turned us around so we were facing in his direction.
A few people were crowding around wanting to get pictures with this guy. Was he a poser? Not sure. Having served for 26 years and spending a considerable amount of that time with/around Marines, my gut tells me yes, he’s a poser.
He was wearing the Marine combo cover, a dress blue jacket and white trousers. The kicker was the rank stripes on the jacket and hash marks.
He was wearing the rank of Sergeant Major OF the Marine Corps, and he only had four (yes, 4) hash marks. And of course he was all bedecked with several rows of large medals. And of course he was the size of the barn around the middle.
I wanted to approach him & have my wife record it with her iPhone, but she wouldn’t play. Oh well, maybe next time.
“He was wearing the rank of Sergeant Major OF the Marine Corps”
Including the one currently holding the office there are only 10 men ALIVE who have held that billet. Three of them were dark Green. I’m pretty sure he wasnt one of the other 7.
