Post: Jackson, Jr tied to Blagojevich?

| December 10, 2008

The Washington Post speculates this evening about Jesse Jackson, Junior’s connection to Rod Blagojevich;

“Senate Candidate 5,” an aspirant to President-elect  Barack Obama’s former U.S. Senate seat mentioned in FBI tapes of Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich, appears to be  Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., his attorney said at a press conference here this afternoon, but he said Jackson “has made no illicit approach to the governor.”

Although Blagojevich (D) was captured on the tapes saying that an emissary from Candidate 5 had offered to raise $500,000 for Blagojevich’s campaign treasury, lawyer James Montgomery said Jackson knew nothing about that.

“Politicians and fundraisers do some funny things from time to time,” said Montgomery, who told reporters that Jackson does not know the unidentified emissary. “I wouldn’t put it past someone to claim they were representing congressman Jackson.”

Here’s a screen shot of that in case it changes by morning;

Hmmm, who in Chicago would “claim” to represent Jackson, Junior? Ace of Spades speculates that it’s Jackson, Senior;

Jesse Jackson, Sr. just retained legal counsel.

Is he the “emissary”?

Ace links to AllahPundit who links to a Chicago NBC station which says;

In two other interesting developments Wednesday, NBC Chicago learned that Jackson Jr. was given a phone call from the U.S. Attorney’s Office the night before the governor was taken into custody, advising him that the arrest was imminent.  Also, the congressman’s father, Jesse Jackson Sr., has retained legal council following the Blagojevich arrest.

As is the case lately, here’s the obligatory screenshot;

How sweet would that be to get THE Jesse Jackson on charges of being a weasel? Michelle Malkin catches Reuters reporting that Conservatives are gleeful over this scandal – if Jesse Jackson gets rolled up in it, you can count me as “gleeful”.

Meanwhile, Obama throws Blagojevich under the bus and Blagojevich crawls back out;

His career in shreds, Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich clung defiantly to power Wednesday, ignoring a call to step down from President-elect Barack Obama and a warning that Senate Democrats will not let him appoint a new senator from the state.

“Everyone is calling for his head,” said Barbara Flynn Currie, a leader in the Illinois Senate and, like the governor, a Democrat.

I hope he remains defiant – it takes a long time to indict, try and convict a Governor – let alone a governor that has everyone jumping through their respective asses the way Blagojevich has them jumping. He doesn’t seem to be the type to go down alone and take one for the team.

I’m loving Hot Rod more by the day.

He sounds more and more like some African despot. Are UN peacekeepers going to be dispatched to Illinois?

What can Blagobama do, legally?

Why, he can simply appoint himself to the Senate seat. Seriously. He didn’t sell the Senate seat to anybody, so that charge disapears. At most, he made a criminal attempt to commit an offense, but may not have taken the required overt act to actually complete the attempt crime.

And once he arrives in the Senate, what is Senator “Corrupt Land Deals in Nevada” Reid going to do about it?

As for sending in UN peacekeepers: Yeah baby! The next installment in the Snake Pliskin movies: “Escape from Chicago.”

When Blago sings…woe is me!! Life is hard but it’s harder when you are stupid. What the heck was this guy thinking? Unless, of course, he feels confident enough that someone will be covering his six o’clock.

Blagblabla seems to be a nutter-butter. Seriously, I think he has some kind of affliction.

Oh yeah, and Politicians and fundraisers do some funny things from time to time…

Believe me, we are laughing.

These next 4 years could by very interesting! Maybe it will be enough to convince more people that BOTH parties are corrupt. All those counting on Obama to be the saviour will be disappointed and The State will lose even more legitimacy (or whatever is left after Bush leaves).

At the very least, you all will have a blast throwing darts at such an easy target. Professional character assassins like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity will benefit the most from all this.
