Lindsey Graham says that you don’t pay enough for your healthcare

| July 9, 2015

It’s not surprising really that this Graham fellow, a veteran and presidential candidate, would sneak around behind us a stick it in us. This is what he said to the Atlantic Council yesterday, according to Military.com;

“The retired Tricare community is going to have to increase over time the amount they pay to make it sustainable,” he said. “About 5 percent of the money to pay Tricare bills comes from the patient population. In the private sector, it’s about 20 [percent]. So over time, we’re going to have to ask Tricare retirees to contribute more to make Tricare more sustainable.”

The cost of the military’s health care system almost tripled to $52 billion in 2012 from $19 billion in 2001. Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates in 2009 famously warned Congress that “health care is eating the department alive.”

My only question to Senator Graham is; where the f*** were you when the Pentagon raided our $770 million Tricare surplus in 2013 with the full approval of the Congress? Yes, we overpaid for our healthcare and instead of investing it in future healthcare costs, Congress let the Defense Department spend it on whatever they wanted (read that – flag officer comforts).

So, Miss Graham, GFY.

No. What we need to do is stop sending BILLIONS of dollars to other countries for stupid programs that those countries need to pay for themselves. That’s just for a start. Those monies can then be used to support our veterans the way they SHOULD be supported.

Skippy

Amen ! ! ! !

A Proud Infidel®™

That as well as CEASE AND DESIST from giving any and all benefits to illegal aliens. Give ’em a one way trip to the Mexican Border and an ADIOS!

UpNorth

I wonder, how many times has the amount given away through food stamps and free healthcare gone up, when Veteran’s benefits gets nothing?
Stop giving the illegals benefits, start punishing those who hire them, in violation of the law and watch them start to self-deport. How much money would that free up?

desert

Isn’t that strange, because I think this useless leech gets paid TOO DAMNED MUCH!

RayRaytheSBS

So something that all us vets were promised: Free healthcare if you do your 20 years, is now going to be more expensive, according to this turd?

SEN Graham, You’re not going to be president, quit your fundraising for it right now, because we all know you are just doing it to line your own pockets with the money.

Quit asking veterans to once again, SACRIFICE more than ANY OTHER people in the country. We are called on to go to places no one else will go to, to do what NO ONE ELSE WILL; fight the nation’s wars.

To Paraphrase COL Jessup from ‘A Few Good Men’ ‘Who’s going to do it? You? You, SEN Graham’? Keep shitting on veterans, Mr. Graham, you won’t like the result.

RayRaytheSBS

Just once, I would like to see some LEADERSHIP from any of these @#!% that call for cuts on the troops benefits. How about you CUT YOUR OWN BENEFITS AS AN EXAMPLE?! But that will NEVER happen, because we DON’T have ‘leadership’… We have politicians.

Eric

And the sad fact is there are politicians in uniform as much as there are elected politicians making these decisions.

ExHack

Queen Lindsey – BLESS HER HEART! – is both. Two LSoS in one sorry overstuffed bag.

MSGRetired

Yup I was told FREE Healthcare after 20 and now reality is I pay $538 a year. Thats a bit more than FREE .. FUCK HIM, how do these ass clowns continue to get elected is beyond me ..

HMCS(FMF) ret.

Fuck the RINO Graham! Both him and McCain have said one thing to “back” the troops, and are quick to try and dork us in the squeakhole because they feel that we aren’t pulling our “fair share”.

Here’s a unique thought, Senator… how about taking from the no loads that are second, third or fourth generation welfare leeches… or better yet from the “illegal alien” population that are sucking off the government?

For someone that has “served”, he sure likes fucking the troops over at every opportune moment.

David

Well, and for everyone else Jeb Bush says we must work longer hours. Apparently he feels that the last 7 years of layoffs and combining several jobs onto fewer employees is just a prelude.

A Proud Infidel®™

Jeb Bush has drank too much RNC Country Club Kool-Aid, and it’s given him irreversible brain damage!!

D

He did clarify that he meant that more workers need to be full time instead of part time. However, that position won’t win him the support of business leaders.

Hondo

Maybe, maybe not. Businesses that depend on skilled labor often prefer to use full-time vice part-time employees.

He’s absolutely correct that we need to increase the labor participation rate. Until that happens, the economy will remain “stuck in neutral” – and we’ll keep on sucking hind t!t.

D

Well, part-timers don’t qualify for benefits, especially under the law, so forcing a business owner to convert PT to FT could create a stir. If the potential profits gained from the FT conversion could more than cover the benefits, then it could work.

JohnE

…and this fvcker is a vet.

Tell me Lindsey (And btw, isn’t that a girls name?) who is paying for your health care? When Congress pays into their own healthcare and retirements at a comparable % as they expect us to pay, I can get behind things like this. But until then, you can stop throwing us into wars and other idiotic pursuits that cause us to get hurt and need healthcare…

Hondo

Actually, JohnE, I believe they do pay as much or more. Since last year, Congress and their staffs are required to get their health insurance through ObamaCare vice participating in the Federal Employee program.

https://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/misc/R43194.pdf

By the way, the Federal Employee health insurance program appears to be decent, but it’s far from free. A decent plan there costs somewhere north of $4000 annually in employee premiums for family coverage, and some cost way more than that.

A Proud Infidel®™

Graham is a Vet, yet the sniveling smug candyassed pampered perfumed quiche-eating fop spits on us like a demo-rat. FUCK YOU, LINDSEY GRAHAM!!!

JohnE

(That’s why I didn’t capitalize Vet with him…he is a lawyer anyway. Know what the difference between a lawyer and a catfish is? One is a bottom dwelling scum eater. The other is a fish.)

PFM

Newly retired O-6 to boot

TallyWhagger

Isn’t NancyBoy just about the sissiest looking little sissy boy in the Senate?

Y’all can tell NancyBoy that it is America that is paying too much for HIS health insurance.

LindseyBoy, the Bawny Fwank of the Senate.

ChipNASA

Well,
He *CERTAINLY* has *MY* vote.

/sorry about your sarc meter.

Bobo

And how much does Graham pay a month for his healthcare? I’m guessing that its less than what I’m paying for my retired Tricare prime, and I’m also guessing that his retirement check is bigger than mine.

Hondo

See above, Bobo. Last time I checked, TRICARE Prime was somewhat less than $50/month (this year, $556 annually). Don’t think you can touch that through ObamaCare – which is where Federal law requires Members of Congress and their staffs to get their health insurance now.

Eric

Well, for now anyway Hondo. How much longer before they have all us vets enrolled in Obama-Vet-Care?

sj

^^^^W O R D^^^^^^^

sj

All you racist anti LBGT homophobes..etc: the health care money has to come from somewhere. It should support addadicktome and chopadicktome’s instead of bullshit medical care to babykiller military. Heinzkerry agrees.

Ex-PH2

Why are any of you surprised? Didn’t you know those recruiters lied their butts off just to pile up points on the job? (snarc)

This is how it works in the Medicare system:
Medicare Part A doesn’t pay for anything but your room, but there’s no premium for it because you’ve already paid in since 1965.
Medicare Part B pays for doctors’ services, whatever that means. It changes with the weather report, and costs a monthly fee of $110 to $120, even though you’ve paid into Medicare since 1965.
Medicare Part C pays for whatever Part B doesn’t cover, and has a monthly premium, so my guess is that it might pay for VA services that are not service-connected.
Medicare Part D is supposed to cover Rx drugs, but you can substitute the VA’s prescription drug service for a co-pay of $8 (usually). Unfortunately, they mostly offer generic drugs, which may be a higher strength than needed, and some of those Rxs have side effects that conflict with each other.

Seriously, the real answer is that once these programs get started, they are difficult to get rid of and you pay more but get less and less in return. It’s called stiffing you, in case you were wondering. Remember when Social Security had a surplus? Yeah, that’s being used to pay the deficit because don’t know how to save money or reduce costs. They only know how to borrow and spend, and some day, this fine country of ours may be facing the Greek problem.

Best of luck to all of you.

Fish

Medicare Patt A covers inpatient facility costs (hospital, skilled nursing, etc)
Part B covers professional costs (Lab, MD, PT etc) premiums for A/B are usually around $100 and are taken from SS

Part C is A/B administered through a private insurer (Blue Cross, Aetna, etc) Includes all coverage for A/B and sometimes more (dental, vision, etc)
Based plan is same as A/B premium and uses SS deduction. Better plans have a higher premium that patient pays

Part D is Medicare RX administered by private plan. A/B doesn’t have outpatient RX benefit.

Fish

Medigap, or supplemental, is the private plan to cover what A/B doesn’t.

Instinct

Lindsey Graham can lick my left nut.

Your Left Nut

“What did I *EVER* do to YOU?!?!?!?!?!”

Eric

Bahahahahahaha!

Pinto Nag

If I had nuts, I certainly wouldn’t let anything in that state of decomposition near them.

Eric

If it meant he got your vote for it, I’m sure he would.

sj

I was going to report this comment until I saw it was the MMFIC’s comment 🙂

Ex-PH2

I wish just once you would all please post a spew alert when you’re discussing nuts. I have a bagful in the cupboard for cookies, you know.

Instinct

hmmmm… so do I. Walnuts to be precise, and chocolate chips…. I have brown sugar, flour, butter, and lemon juice.

Guess I need to start baking!

Pinto Nag

When you’re baking, how do you tell a left nut from a right nut?

I can’t ever tell the difference.

Instinct

Left nut smells like patchouli and hippie tears while the right one smells like gunpowder and Hoppes 9.

Ex-PH2

Just the thought of that… I am official grossed out.

Instinct

My work here is done!

ARCOM

Shockingly inappropriate conversation. I am appalled at the conduct of several people here.

Instinct

My deepest apologies. I hereby report myself for punishment and will, as penance, only consume two beers today instead of three.

I am ashamed.

Pinto Nag

What? I thought we were discussing baking. What did you think we were discussing?

*said with big, innocent moppet eyes*

Instinct

I thought we were talking about Lindsey giving my privates a tongue bath, but I could be wrong.

Blaster

damn it, Woodford Reserves burns the nostrils!

ARCOM

I appreciate that “some of you” realize the error in your ways. However, I am afraid this type of misconduct is encouraged from the highest levels of this organization.

I hope they can accept this “On the spot correction” and conduct themselves accordingly from here on out.

Stacy0311

So if we have to pay more will the level of service increase also? Or will we have to pay more for the same or less?

And ease off making fun of his name….

timactual

A contract is a contract. One would expect an attorney to understand at least that much.

Hondo

timactual: unfortunately, the “contract” most of us signed doesn’t really promise lifetime medical care. If you don’t believe me, find a military retiree who’s old enough to remember when CHAMPUS (the forerunner of TRICARE) was forced on retirees in the 1960s/early 1970s. If they’re not senile, be prepared to get an earful – and probably a profane earful at that.

Those folks literally were told they’d have “free medical care for life”. It turned out to be bull then – just like it’s bull today, and always has been bull. There was always that “if space is available” or other caveat.

TRICARE coverage is simply another government benefit, not something in which you have a legal ownership interest. (Social Security is in the same category; you will only receive that as long as Congress says you will.) If Congress changes Federal law, they can – and have in the past – change the rules and what you get.

sapper3307

Its makes me feel good that I can still help America after giving it 22 years of my life.

2/17 Air Cav

If he were half the man he thinks he is (and I understand that he is half a man)he would at least get the hell out of the closet.

Stacy0311

I hear his cologne smells like cedar and mothballs

Johca

The original cost concepts of Tri-care was most medical care, treatments and prescriptions would be obtained through a Military Medical Treatment facility or clinic.

Unfortunately, base closures also close military hospitals forcing more military and retired military to the private sector for healthcare at an increased cost. However as the base closures are to benefit in redistributing money to social programs such as medicare and medicaid perhaps the dishonorable elected official lining his pocket from the public till can expand his bandwagon BS to demand those relying on medicare and medicaid to pay more for their healthcare.

BTW, did he read the Affordable Care act before it passed?

TONY180A

We don’t have any real advocates. Any politician suggesting such action should be publicly tarred and feathered. But then again I can always dream.

Smaj

I would tell Miss Lindsey to kiss both sides of my ass but he would enjoy that too much. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

sj

Are you folks saying the Distinguished Senator from SC might be light in his loafers? Not that there is anything wrong with that. (H/T Seinfeld)

I, honestly, had never heard that before.

HMCS(FMF) ret.

SJ – he’s one of them thar “sensitive, New Age guys”…

Azygos

Candied Pecans

2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons maple syrup
2 tablespoons brown sugar (dark)

2 to 3 cups pecans (only use the right nuts)

Melt butter, syrup, brown sugar in sauce pan. Add pecans, stir for four to five minutes on medium high heat.

Spread on greased cookie sheet and bake 12 to 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Let cool and enjoy.
