Detroit Police Chief credits armed citizens for drop in crime
Marine_7002 sends us a link to the Detroit News which reports that Detroit Police Chief James Craig credits armed citizens in that city for the drop in crime there – an unusual position for an inner-city police official lately;
“Criminals are getting the message that good Detroiters are armed and will use that weapon,” said Craig, who has repeatedly said he believes armed citizens deter crime. “I don’t want to take away from the good work our investigators are doing, but I think part of the drop in crime, and robberies in particular, is because criminals are thinking twice that citizens could be armed.
“I can’t say what specific percentage is caused by this, but there’s no question in my mind it has had an effect,” Craig said.
Of course, the gun grabbers can’t grasp the concept;
“Our position is, more guns equals more crime,” [Josh Horwitz, director of the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence in Washington D.C.] said “These are complicated issues, but the empirical evidence shows the states with the lowest gun ownership and the tightest restrictions have the fewest instances of gun violence.
Despite the evidence to the contrary;
Detroit resident Al Woods, a self-described former criminal who is now an anti-violence advocate and author, agreed criminals are thinking twice about attacking citizens.
“If I was out there now robbing people these days, knowing there are a lot more people with guns, I know I’d have to rethink my game plan,” said Woods, 60.
It’s funny that gun crime is dropping in Detroit, but on the rise in Chicago. Cognitive dissonance kills.

It’s funny how the gun grabbers talk about “empirical evidence,” when ALL of the empirical evidence decisively proves them wrong. Chief Craig gets it, and that’s one of the only things that give the city of Detroit a shred of hope.
A police chief putting out a storyline that directly contradicts Obama, Holder, and Emanuel. Standing by for someone to call him a “racist”. I think this presumably racist chief will be looking for a job soon…

Good thing we have people like this out there convicting people without due process for exercising their constitutional rights. Equating gun ownership to crime like that is pure Libtard 101.
Anytime a leftist, liberal gun grabber or any issue for that matter says, “These are complicated issues”, it means you dumb asses in America can’t think for yourselves and therefore we have appointed ourselves the default voice for all things complicated. “You little people, don’t try to understand these things, they’re way over your head. We’ll formulate an opinion and give it to you”.

1 – Criminals buy their guns in gunshops, through gun dealers.
2 – Gangbangers, et al., will stay away from cities/neighborhoods where gun control exists.

and whenever you see someone use the term “reasonable” or “safety” it’s a liberal trying to screw you. And because what he/she has is entitled “Reasonable” you are an unreasonable maniac who needs to be locked up.
Also, it’s funny to note that “conversations on reasonable gun safety” are one-sided edicts that infringe on one’s rights.
Thank G-d for a Police Chief who takes his job seriously enough to tell the truth. To effectively address any problem one must look at the problem honestly. Chief Craig certainly has displayed his ability to do exactly that. That is the kind of attitude which results is good policing by those who serve.
