I’m not even going to pretend I understand Bernoulli’s Principle, but this struck me as kind of cool.

This Smarter Every Day stuff is pretty cool. You can also find out why cats always land on their feet, how a balloon acts in a car and a bunch of other scientsy stuff. The hockey stick one is cool too.

So if a cat always lands on its feet, and toast always lands butter side down, what happens when you strap a piece of buttered toast to the back of a cat and drop it???

Actually, there was a proposal for a federal grant to develop a national mass transit system based on the Butter Toasted Cat Back Device.

It turns out, that when buttered toast is strapped, butter side up, to the back of a cat and said thing is dropped, it falls to within a foot of the ground and then spins so rapidly it creates a time vortex.

A human that walks into a vortex made by the buttered back cat will appear, instantly, in the next nearest buttered back cat vortex.

The project was defunded due to lack of Like votes for the BTCBD as an acronym.

I love science as long as I don’t have to do the math.

The ‘afterbubble’ effect was seriously amazing, the way it pulled into itself, like a wormhole collapsing.

And then I went to the video about the Prince Rupert drop, sat there fascinated by the way the glass ‘tadpole’ was unbreakable, until you knick the tail with something and then SPLATTER! It immediately became a sci-fi WEPS possibility. I’m thinking…. ye-e-e-s, it could work. That, and the flameballs in zero gravity thing.

I’m hooked.

Bernoulli’s Principle – Airplane Wing. Air is moving faster over the top of the wing than it is under the wing, and that is what generates lift. That’s very simplified, but yeah.

Also think of a window. If you open a window just a few inches on a windy day, the speed the air is moving at is greater than if you were to open it all the way.

I’m no science teacher, and that is a very basic example, but hope it helps. What the picture is showing is basically the opposite. It’s showing a compressed gas expanding as opposed to uncompressed gas (or air) compressing…

If it’s clear as mud, it’s because I’m working nights and I’m really tired, haha.
