Sunday feel good story
Dave sends us today’s feel good story from Houston about a homeowner who had to defend his family from a naked burglar he discovered climbing in his window;
According to the Houston Police Department, the male suspect was banging on the front door and broke through a window at a home located in the 700 block of Marjorie.
After several verbal warnings, the resident inside the home pulled a gun and squeezed off several shots.
“After he broke the dude’s window, you know trying to unlock it… you got kids, wife, you know, he said he didn’t want to kill him so he shot him in the arm,” a neighbor said.

Too bad the homeowner didn’t help this guy turn his life around.
He was just trying to turn his life around while overheated. He just went to the wrong house and got some hot lead rather than cold water.
CENTER MASS, DAMN IT!!! ALWAYS SHOOT CENTER MASS!!
Totally OT, I need some info–who is Jon Soltz and is he a reliable voice for the troops?
Thanks in advance.
In this instance, I can understand shoot to wound. Clearly the guy wasn’t carrying a concealed weapon.
Good thing this was in Texas. In other, less gun friendly states he could be charged with intentional maiming.
Wtf was he on
Mr Bill, he could be charged with flourishing a weapon.
I agree, Instinct.
I did not realize Paul (of the Ballsack) was in Houston.
@4: Jon Soltz is the person behind Vote Vets. The quick answer? No.
Was he also charged with insufficient exposure?
Clearly, he was breaking in to get some clothes.
It is in the Bill of Rights.
@ #12: Would that be in the Freedom from Exposure clause?
Assault with a limp weapon, perhaps?
Seems that a lot of these “turning their lives around” stories have been originating in Houston lately. You would think that after the first ten or fifteen of these, the criminals may want to consider other career options, but that would entail actually working. Fo’ Shizzle!
so far, at least, they aren’t shooting infants here.
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry about a story like this. I’ll just say I think it was handled wrong — and that hopefully the naked dude got some mental help after being treated for his wound(s).
y’know, I had somewhat the same thought… but if the guy was already acting wierd, the police weren’t there, he’s breaking into the house – the homeowner used a minimal amount of necessary force to stop him in a timely manner. That’s as good as it gets. Better than waiting 20 minutes for the cops to arrive and having the crazy both break in and do more damage, or killing the guy outright.
