Hagel forecasts deep cuts in defense
Remember the other day when we read at Fox News that the White House was not willing to discuss domestic spending cuts with Congress? Well, apparently, they’re not as reticent about implementing cuts to defense, according to Military.com;
The Army would shrink to 380,000 troops, the Marines Corps to 150,000. The Navy would lose three carriers, and the Air Force would begin mothballing its B-52 bomber fleet under a worst-case budget scenario outlined Wednesday by Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.
In addition, Tricare fees would go up, housing allowances would be slashed, pay raises would be scaled back, and commissary subsidies would be reduced, Hagel said — unless Congress and the White House can agree to lift the sequestration deficit-reduction process that is projected to take $500 billion out of defense budgets over the next 10 years.
Yeah, it’s Congress fault because the White House won’t cut spending for buying votes from their constituency, but they’re fine with letting defense slide into a big black hole from which some future Conservative administration will have to dig us out.

Of all this BS the worst part to me is the mothballing of the B-52’s. They have been around since 1953 doing there job. I think that’s a big mistake. Not to neglect that I am upset over the shrinkage of the troop force. Who hasn’t seen this coming and the Joint Chiefs will simply stand, salute and say yes sir Mr. President.
If Hagel had 1/2 a testicle, the last line in his announcement would have been, “I light of what I have just said, I will be tendering my resignation forthwith.”
And with these reductions we will continue to be the action arm for NATO, while the rest of the world sits on their collective asses.
This is not a good thing. Not a good thing at all.

This dickhead SECDEF and this terrible administration are just playing chicken with a non-compliant Congress and are willing to sacrifice military readiness to further their agenda. Treasonous…..

Start by cutting out all the $100 million trips to Africa (his homeland). That would be a good start.
Selling their soul? More like selling the country. What with the 15,000 Russian troops now stationed somewhere around the “Zone III” with DHS Emergency Response Teams. I think the President is wanting someone to try and do a take-over, just so he can surrender and apologize for all the bad things we have done in the past.
Maybe one of you Navy folks can clue me in then…
The keel to the USS Gerald R. Ford (Ford Class CVN) has been laid in Norfolk. Does this mean it gets scrapped?
I hope it doesn’t take a disaster (but it probably will) for this country to wake up. The only good result would be that this arrogant petty man would spend his post presidency being reviled for the damage he’s done to this great nation.

If there ever is a conservative administration again. With the Republican elite no better than Dem Lite and the millions of wannbe Dem voters waiting for citizenship, I don’t have much hope for the future.
