Ms. Perkins is a former Mayoral appointee to the Food Insecurity Board, whose term expired in January. Sounds like she shouldn’t plan on getting re-hired:
Houston Mayor John Whitmire addressed the controversy on Sunday, calling Perkins’ comments “deeply inappropriate” and stating they have no place in a decent society, especially as families grieve confirmed deaths and await the ongoing search for missing persons.
“The individual who made these statements is not a City of Houston employee,” Whitmire clarified. “She was appointed to the City’s Food Insecurity Board by former Mayor Sylvester Turner in 2023, and her term expired in January 2025. Mayor Whitmire has no plans to reappoint her, and the City is taking immediate steps to remove her permanently from the board.”
“They want you to have sympathy for these people. They want to get out of your bed and to come out of your home and to go find these people and to donate your money to go to find these people,” Perkins said in the video.“Meanwhile, they are deporting your family members. Meanwhile, they’re setting up concentration camps and prisons for your family members. In todays’ world of social media, being famous/going viral is THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WORLD. Especially to women because attention is their currency. Maybe she hates those girls or maybe she doesn’t. She does know that hating them will bring her attention, and then she responds to the responses and so on, and so on, and so on…

I hope that she gets everything that she has set herself up for. More than that, I hope that she actually learns from it. I hope that she becomes a better person from it. I hope that she begins to learn that she is being played by politicians and media influences and that racism is NOT as prevalent as THEY would like for us to believe. There are assholes of every color, race, religion and culture out there, but it is not “all of us against all of them”.
She has no where to go but up from where she currently is.
Your sentiment is understandable, but even after her initial comment she doubled down. Her comments reflect what she actually believes, and serves as proof of what kind of person she really is.
She’s now trying to raise $20,000 to help her overcome the stress and backlash she’s getting. Last I read is she’s raised only $400, and people are donating the least possible just so they can leave comments.
She certainly set herself up for everything she’s getting. I doubt she’ll learn from the experience. People like her become more bitter, spiteful, hateful, irrational and obnoxious.
