Feinstein’s gun ban introduced

| January 24, 2013

Well, we knew it was coming – Senator Diane Feinstein that moron foisted upon us by the fruits and nuts in California introduced her new updated version of what everyone is calling an Assault Weapon Ban. From The Hill;

“I have worked on this for a long time,” said Feinstein in an interview with USA Today. “I’m not a newcomer or a novice to guns.

“The NRA sort of specialized in trying to denigrate me, but I don’t think there’s anyone around that’s spent 20 years on this subject, plus some,” she added.

Says the woman who bans bayonet lugs and belt fed semi-automatic rifles. That will make us all safer, won’t it?

Here’s a photo someone took of the list of weapons that she’s banning. looks like they finally got the Mini-14, but I don’t see any Glocks on the list, maybe these old eyes missed the most dangerous weapon in the history of firearms. I blew it up so you you’ll have to click a couple of times to read it;

USAToday says this is the essence of her bill;

Ban the sale, transfer, importation or manufacturing of about 150 named firearms, plus certain rifles, handguns and shotguns fitted for detachable magazines and having at least one military characteristic.

Strengthen the 1994 ban by moving from a two- to a one-characteristic test to determine what constitutes an assault weapon.

Ban firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons.”

Ban the importation of assault weapons and large-capacity magazines.

Ban high-capacity ammunition magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.

I wonder how many thumbhole stocks have been used in crimes. I’m still trying to figure out WTF a “bullet button” is. Now the USAToday article says that Feinstein’s ban grandfathers weapons owned on the day that the ban begins, but we all know that she said initially that she wanted complete registration of grandfathered weapons, but the USAToday article doesn’t mention that fact – I don’t know if she dropped the proposal or if USAToday is just leaving it out for some reason.

Feinstein’s biggest foe in the ban is going to be Harry Reid who stands to lose 19 Democrats in the Senate if there’s repercussions at the ballot box next year. I think it’s too late for him to worry about that. Just all of the talk in the last few weeks have pretty much sealed the fates of those Senators whether the bill passes or not.

Thanks to Old Trooper for the link.

Common Sense

Feinstein is clearly not a viewer of the show “1000 Ways to Die”, most of which do not include firearms. In fact, quite a few of the victims (mostly Darwin Award recipients) probably wished they had been offed by a gun instead of the method they used.

I’m particularly fond of the drunk Russian who tried to have sex with a raccoon, had his penis bitten off, and bled to death.

Go ahead and introduce your bill DiFi, and then watch it die in the House. I’m just pissed that morons like this are driving up prices. And not that I’m advocating violence, but I think it would be hilarious/ironic if one of these evil looking gun ban morons was shot but another left wing whack job using a revolver, bolt action deer rifle or a break open single shot shotgun

@19: Not true on the ammunition. I have purchased M855 LAP ammunition off the store shelves on numerous occasions. Also, most commie ammo is steel core.

Depending on how you read the line for the Ruger Mini-14, it would appear that (with no semicolon separating “Ruger Mini-14 Tactical Rifle M14/20CF”) it appears that the M1A and M14 are off the hook.

@52 I disagree. I hope they die quietly in their beds at some ridiculous old age. If one politician gets whacked with anything that even remotely resembles a gun, our right to keep and bear arms is going to be toast. Not that it isn’t anyway, but it will happen faster if one of the ruling elite gets it.

I wish a reporter would ask these people if they recognize a right to self defense and the means with which to perform it. Doubt we would get a straight answer from any of them.
Also I’m tired of the high capacity magazine crap. I believe a law abiding citizen should decide for himself what he needs. Once a self defense situation begins you need enough firepower to defeat the threat. A southern Arizona rancher might run into a drug convoy on his land and “need” a couple of thirty round magazines.

Didi Dina went to a lot of trouble to list every gun she could think of. What that says about her is that she is somewhat obsessive compulsive and has control issues.

However, any gun manufacturer can slap any designation it wants to on any weapon. Since that list is so specific, it’s only a matter of changing the specific names of products.

Well, damn!! All three of my Eeeeeevile Black Rifles are outlawed therein. My Kar98 would still be legal as would my Springfield 03A3, both of whom have killed more humans than any of my Eeeeevile Black Rifles.

If Ted Kennedy’s Oldsmobile was still around, would it qualify as a “lethel weapon”?

Interesting times.

@40, I took a shot in the dark.

@54 This: http://www.ruger.com/products/mini14TacticalRifle/specSheets/5846.html is the Mini-14 variant named in bill… The other non-scary looking, non-evil black rifle variants aren’t listed.

Which just proves it’s all about the cosmetics, not the functionality.

A bullet button is a lock on the magazine release of an AR-15. It requires you to use a key to release and seat a magazine…. these have been a way that Californians have used to get around the 2-characteristic test with their ARs… being that it no longer allows magazine to be readily exchanged

Ex-PH2

@60 – Looking at that, give it a pink or electric blue paint job, replace the pistol grip with a comfortable banana-shaped suede handle, put a lovely burled maple wooden or mother of pearl stock on it, and some tassels. Then it becomes a girlie weapons that could not possibly do anyone any harm.

Also, rename it the Mamas19th Peashooter.

After reflection, I think this is a carefully crafted tactic. Joeeeeee Biden says “I’m for better background checks and limiting high-cap mags” while Feinstein looks like a wild-eye’d radical by comparison. That witch ain’t running in 2016…. but he sure as hell is. She gets everyone all wound up and in a ‘outta my cold dead hands’ lather by pushing a ban of damn near everything – which even SHE admits she probably won’t get, then he steps in, sounds all Presidential, pushing something that sounds like (by comparison) a reasonable compromise… and the banners get what they want, elimination of high cap mags. We’re being played, and buying into it.

NHSparky

Problem is, even if she is running, she’s safe.

I’d like to see what Jeanne Shaheen and some of the other Dems who are up in 2014 have to say about this proposal.

I’m guessing crickets would be the order of the day.

B Woodman

Bait-&-switch or not, what part of the word N-O do you not understand??
Bitch!

tops116

Ironic that she would introduce anti-gun legislation in a building protected by people with guns.

“I’m guessing crickets would be the order of the day.”

In public, yes. In private, something along the lines of “What the hell are you trying to do to us?!”

OWB

In case anyone is interested, she actually DID introduce the bill yesterday. Been watching and it had not been posted earlier today but finally is:

http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/D?d113:140:./list/bss/d113SN.lst:@@@L&summ2=m&

Interesting (no surprises) cosponsors.

Also note that as of this moment, the text has still not been posted. But it has been referred to Judiciary.
