Obama’s gun plan
So, his big anticipated speech was pretty much like I said it’d be – his executive orders threat turned out to be a bunch of stuff he should have been doing already, well, except providing incentives for schools to hire cops to patrol schools (I guess that’s only nutty when the NRA says it out loud);
1. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal agencies to make relevant data available to the federal background check system.
2. Address unnecessary legal barriers, particularly relating to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, that may prevent states from making information available to the background check system.
3. Improve incentives for states to share information with the background check system.
4. Direct the Attorney General to review categories of individuals prohibited from having a gun to make sure dangerous people are not slipping through the cracks.
5. Propose rulemaking to give law enforcement the ability to run a full background check on an individual before returning a seized gun.
6. Publish a letter from ATF to federally licensed gun dealers providing guidance on how to run background checks for private sellers.
7. Launch a national safe and responsible gun ownership campaign.
8. Review safety standards for gun locks and gun safes (Consumer Product Safety Commission).
9. Issue a Presidential Memorandum to require federal law enforcement to trace guns recovered in criminal investigations.
10. Release a DOJ report analyzing information on lost and stolen guns and make it widely available to law enforcement.
11. Nominate an ATF director.
12. Provide law enforcement, first responders, and school officials with proper training for active shooter situations.
13. Maximize enforcement efforts to prevent gun violence and prosecute gun crime.
14. Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.
15. Direct the Attorney General to issue a report on the availability and most effective use of new gun safety technologies and challenge the private sector to develop innovative technologies.
16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.
17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.
18. Provide incentives for schools to hire school resource officers.
19. Develop model emergency response plans for schools, houses of worship and institutions of higher education.
20. Release a letter to state health officials clarifying the scope of mental health services that Medicaid plans must cover.
21. Finalize regulations clarifying essential health benefits and parity requirements within ACA exchanges.
22. Commit to finalizing mental health parity regulations.
23. Launch a national dialogue led by Secretaries Sebelius and Duncan on mental health.
But I’m waiting to read the Executive Orders before I have my final say on those things.
So, he wants Congress to recertify the Assault Weapon Ban and get rid of magazines over 10 rounds and I don’t think either will happen, unless those RINOs haven’t got the message yet. If they do pass, we’ll have no one to blame but the Republicans, because we’ve been expecting this from the Democrats for four years now.

Doctor: Do you have any guns in your house?
Me: In my house. No, not right now. I brought My Gun with me.
Doctor: You did? Where is it?
Me: Over there in the corner. (My Gun gets up, offers the doc a paw.) This is My Gun.
Doctor: But it’s a dog. You named your dog after a gun?
Me: No, I named my dog My Gun.
Doctor: But it’s a dog!
Me: What’s your point?
Obama is starting up his re-election campaign to take on the NRA at the grassroots level, folks. Heads up!
That will probably rank right up there among the worst decisions he has ever made, street. Well, worst for himself, not for the rest of us. Then again – who could blame him. The Chicago plan of thuggery has worked quite well for him so far. The concept that he may not grasp is that everyone else is getting more than a little sick of the Chicago way.
One can hope anyway. A stray prayer here and there can’t hurt either.
When the local Leo’s (who lives on your block)starts doing no-knock raids, shoots your neighbor’s dog and drags him away to a pita prison because he wouldn’t give up his grandfather’s garand, what will you (and all your neighbors) think? Will you have firearms that he knows about? Will he kill or detain you? Will you wait to see if he comes for you? Will you trust in divine providence? How do you think this will play out?
There are 300+ million firearms in the US- how many homes could the local constabulary raid on your block and NOT find a gun. There are 800,000 leo’s in the US out of 300 million+. The alternative is rolling armor into every neighborhood and going house to house, is this possible or even probable? Everyone on your block knows where the cop lives, you may not know anything about anyone else on your block but you know where the cop lives, & I suspect that the cops knows that as well. It’s probably going to get very ugly in the near future, our “betters” are doing their best to assure it.
Plan? It’s only increasing sales!

@54, get a grip! Read up on states’ laws re: gun ownership before your go off the deep end. Paranoia can be fun, yes, but things are not quite so dismal as you think.
It really amazes me how the presidents hate mongers try to place a hatred of guns on this president. It was this kind of fear that the NRA tried to place on why President Obama should not be elected the first time. In his entire 4 years; He almost never mentioned gun control. It was not until these senseless cowards took NRA guns and killed so many of our innocent children; that the American People started asking for more gun control; it was only then that the President brought it up again. Get over it you NRA cowwards; get a life; Guns are full of the Devil who is here to Steal; Kil and Destroy. If you went to church and put God first in your life instead of guns ; you would be a lot happier in life and a lot more Blessed.
Thanks, niceguy, nothing like being called names by a Christian. My guess is that you haven’t set foot in church in years. I may be a coward for clinging to my guns, but at least I can spell it. Dingus.
@56: you make many interesting points, along with a lot of assumptions. First off; I’m surprised that you think that it was an NRA gun that killed those kids. I don’t recall anyone stating that it had an NRA badge anywhere on it. Second; Why would you call someone a coward that wants to keep their God given right to self defense? Third; you are placing intent within an inanimate object, which means it cannot be full of “the Devil who is here to Steal; Kil and Destroy”. The person using it for evil is the one you need to talk to, not me, because as a matter of fact; Ted Kennedy’s car has killed more people than my guns. As for putting God first and going to church; well, why don’t you preach that to the criminals, instead of the law abiding citizens?
@57: Jonn, I doubt that Niceguy523 is a Christian, but rather a confused bed wetting progressive that is attempting to use their limited knowledge and meaning of the Bible as their shield against criticism. Yeah, that don’t work with me.
I’m guessing “Niceguy523” is not familiar with Luke 22:36.
Then said He to them, “But now, he that has a purse, let him take it, and likewise his money: and he that has no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.”
Niceguy sounds like a liberal who sniffed WAY too much model airplane glue before he dropped out to draw welfare!
@ 56 Niceguy523
Let’s review:
– hate mongers
– hatred of guns
– fear that the NRA tried to place
– senseless cowards took NRA guns
– American People started asking for more gun control
– NRA cowwards
– get a life
– Guns are full of the Devil
– put God first in your life instead of guns NRA Guns
All righty then!
“full of the Devil”
I guess he had a big breakfast.
Now Niceguy, tell me on the nice silhouette target where the bad gun touched you. We’ll get that evil devil possessed gun off the streets as soon as we can for you.
If he’s actually a Christian I’ll eat my laptop. Oh and it’s pragmatism, not cowardice thanks.
So, it’s true. Niceguys do finish last.
