Schroeder sentenced
We first talked about Paul A. Schroeder back in February when he was busted for stealing valor as a PTS counselor for a local non-profit in Houston, the PTSD Foundation of America. After hearing his tales about all of his secret missions to Panama and Africa, the Houston Chonicle asked him to cough up some records, and he told them that his DD214 was secret. He told all of those tales of his daring-do, but his records were secret. He was indicted in June.
The Associated Press reports that Schroeder got a measly 30 days in prison. It took them ten months to sentence him to 30 days? Seriously?
A federal judge in Houston on Monday sentenced 41-year-old Paul A. Schroeder of Shenandoah for altering a military or naval discharge certificate.
They probably could have trumped up a littering charge and got him more time.

The only good side to this is how this shithead will appear if anyone does a search for him. Busted for altering official documentation will keep him out of a lot of jobs that don’t involve a shovel handle or a fry-o-lator.
Nik: bingo. Pretty sure that falls under the Federal forgery statute, which makes it a felony. (Felony/misdemeanor is based on maximum possible sentence vice sentence actually imposed.)
Hopefully the Judge and US Attorney cut him slack in sentencing vice letting him plea-bargain it down to a misdemeanor.

Honestly if somebody is stupid enough to buy some fake ass award certificates for $20 a piece let them. These domains actually provide a useful service allowing people that may not have served to see what fake documents look like.
MCPO: it’s probably due to sites like that that the Army Board for Correction of Military Records no longer accepts award certificates w/o orders as sufficient proof of awards. I’ve seen quite a few case summaries recently where the ABCMR has refused to “correct” an individual’s records based solely on an award certificate w/o orders.
No, those are all wrong. I lost my HD certificates, but both of mine had tall-masted sailing ships on them. Those are all fakes. FAKES! FAKES!! FAKES!!!!!!
If you’ve never had the pleasure of spending a few days in the pokey, 30 days doesn’t seem like much. But jails, unlike prisons, are usually madhouses and it’s no fun to eat bologna sandwiches for weeks, use a steel toilet, and get strip searched.(Bend and spread!) So, here’s to his lousy 30 days of misery and permanent blot on his record. Cheers!
It’s Houston. It, like Austin, are enclaves of Progs. However, it’s still Texas, so he wasn’t let go and he wasn’t given the Key to the City like anyplace in California, New York or Massachussetts.
