Hallis Mailen: because he asked for it

| November 13, 2012

Last year, Gateway Pundit sent us this photo of Hallis Mailen to see what we could dig up on him;

Hallis Mailen

At the time, in the countless profiles of him on the internet, nothing indicated he’d ever been in the military – that’s how proud he was of his service. But, he stopped by last month to threaten us with a lawsuit because we had poked fun at his dirty feet, so Hondo sent away to the NPRC for his records. It turns out that he was in the Army back in the early 80s. And he was indeed stationed in Korea.

So we were curious about what could have caused “ptsd FROM THINGS I WITNESSED WHILE IN SOUTH KOREA”. He was a Decontamination Equipment Operator in Headquarters Company, 2d Engineer Battalion when there was an incident on Ingman Range in Korea in which four NCOs were murdered and another wounded when two privates went berserk on the firing line. (By the way, according to the testimony, one of the murderers was spouting jihadist BS when he was apprehended).

Apparently, the entire company was on the qualification range that day, but according to the CID investigation, because of the terrain on the firing line, no one witnessed the shootings except the gunmen and the victims. So, Hallis may have HEARD the shooting, but he didn’t “witness” it as he claims. So, basically, he gets a pension from the Department of Veterans’ Affairs because he experienced that which all of us have experienced – hearing rifles discharged while on a firing range.

So, because he threatened us with a lawsuit and for no other reason, here are his records;

I don’t know what brain surgeon designed a firing range where the tower couldn’t see two firing points, but according to the above-linked report it happened and Mailen didn’t “witness” anything. But it figures that the VA would give him a disability rating for hearing rifle shots on a firing range when there are so many stuck in the queue who really deserve disability.

And he probably should still wash his stinkin’ feet.

Hey Jonn, you can’t wash what you can’t see…I’m just sayin’.

Twist

I’m with Claymore on this one. That guy probably hasn’t seen his feet in years.

Feets??!! You mean. . . I still gots feets??!! Who knew!

Lobster

This guy supposedly went on a “hunger strike”. Go figure that one out.

Hondo

Nah – even a really big guy can almost always find a position where he can see his feet.

Reaching them could be problematic, though.

Spade

lol that guy is fat

Memo to Hallis–I was on board when our topside watch blew his fucking brains out. Those not on watch were scooping off brains and hosing down the topside after the paramedics removed the kid’s body (I can’t say man, he was all of a whopping 19 years old.)

And yet I don’t have PTSD nor have I ever filed a claim for such. Does that mean I’m not affected by it? On the contrary–but I’m certainly not trying to perpetrate a scam based on it.

Lard Ass.

@8

I wonder, is that a step up, or down, from “turd”?

“Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering whale; to the last I grapple with thee; from hell’s heart I stab at thee; for hate’s sake I spit my last breath at thee. Sink all coffins and all hearses to one common pool! And since neither can be mine, let me then tow to pieces, while still chasing thee, though tied to thee, thou damned whale! Thus, I give up the spear!”

@9 – Nik, GT is developing his insult vocabulary and doing a fine job of it. Give him credit.

I could add my own epithets, in concert with Green Thumb:

Full-gorged, infectious, unwashed, gut-griping, canker-blossom.

How’s that?

Nik

@11

Oh, I meant GT no disrespect. I just wanted to know the appropriate nomenclature so I don’t get it wrong.

I like canker-blossom. That’s a good one.

A bit of additional background: Mailen was in Korea from approx 24 Apr 1981 to 19 May 1982. There were three infiltration incidents while Mailen was serving in Korea. Two of those were coastal – one on the eastern coast of Korea, and a second on the western coast well south of Seoul. Obviously, Mailen did not witness anything associated with these.

The third occurred in that small portion of the DMZ where the upper Imjin (not the portion if the Imjin near Panmunjom that is crossed by Freedom Bridge) forms either the MDL or the southern boundary of the DMZ. Security for that area appears to have been the responsibility of the ROK Army since 1971, so no 2ID troops would have been there either.

A fourth incident occurred roughly a month before Mailen arrived in-country, and he might have heard about that too. But it was also in the ROK Army security sector of the DMZ vice the 2ID sector. And since it occurred before his arrival, obviously he didn’t see that one either.

Bottom line: if Mailen personally witnessed any “bad stuff” in Korea other than the Ingman Range incident, I’d love to know what it was. And based on what’s published, what he personally saw at the Ingman Range appears to have been the aftermath of the incident vice the incident itself.

UpNorth

“right wing republican fascist nazi websites”? My, Hallis certainly does have all of the left wing, democrat, communist talking points down, doesn’t he?
He’s just another douche-nozzle leech on the government tit.

Nik

@13

I’m sure Hallis didn’t see anything bad to do with Korea that didn’t involve a bowl of Kimchee.

Ex-PH2

@12 — Understood, and GT is in grad school (or so he says, he might actually be drinking in a biker bar somewhere instead of in class), so he has limited time.

Hondo

Hey, kimchi is good stuff! Especially when served with rice and yook-gae-jang, champong, ojinga-bokum, or duguchigae!

NHSparky

Twist–glad you reposted the quote from Moby Dick that I put up in the first thread on Shamu there.

Twist

Sorry Sparky, that was an unintentional copycat. I didn’t read the first thread.

LebbenB

@15. And a big bottle of Soju.

NHSparky

But it’s (still) so appropriate.

And don’t forget cuddling with your loved ones on those cold Korean nights with those “mink” blankets.

Ah, Texas Street…

OWB

Hey!! I must have a REALLY bad case of the range induced PTSD! Been there a bunch of times. The worst was at night. All that noise and the muzzle flashes. Yes, it must have been that night fire thing.

Or maybe I caught it the time it was so cold that my feet didn’t work right and I actually fell up the steps into the bus transporting us back to base. Yeah. That must be it.

/sarc

No disrespect, intended or otherwise, aimed at legitimate sufferers from PTS by these comments. Each time someone claims this sort of foolishness it diminishes the experiences of us all.

Addendum: this link appears to show photos of Ingman Range. The first photo shows the grandstand, parking area, FPs 6/7/8, and the steps leading to same. (I believe FP7 is the one about 2/3 up the hill near the large pole/spike along the steps). The second photo appears to show some but not all of the lower FPs (2/3/4/5).

IMO, it would be kinda hard to see much of anything going on at those firing points if you weren’t actually at one of those firing points. You certainly couldn’t seen anything in detail without binoculars. And given the angle, I don’t think you could see anything at all of FPs 7 and 8 from the grandstand.

At most, from the grandstand Mailen saw a wounded man, SGT Cardinal (who survived), fall and roll down a hill. SGT Cardinal was safety at FP6 and went up to FP7 to investigate during the incident; he was shot at FP7 and fell down the hill afterwards. Eyeball estimation indicates that was around 200m away from the grandstand – but my eyeballs aren’t precisely calibrated, so I could be off. You see worse than that in most horror or war movies. (I’m guessing he’d probably seen Alien, which had come out a year or two prior.)

I’m basing that estimate on the fact that there’s a guy standing on the steps at what appears to be FP6; I’m guessing he was around 6′ tall. That means FP6 looks to be somewhere around 75-100m from the grandstand and that FP7 looks to be close to 200m away from same.

Mailen might have also seen one of the perpetrators – who fainted after coming down the hill and spouting a tall tale about there being a “crazy guy up there shooting people” – come to and start spouting jihadist speech. Again, you hear far worse than that in most horror or war movies.

Bottom line: if that’s what he’s claiming gave him PTSD, Mailen is IMO certainly one “fragile flower”.

Green Thumb

@16.

Actually, I prefer hotel bars. Biker bars are not quite my style and I cannot deal with kids in college bars. Both of which have no clue to what a martini or cold beer is…

Just saying….

Also, no class today so beer-thirty might come early!

We shall see.

This sack of shit is not what I would consider a poser in the true sense of the word. He strikes me a sandbag who took his Army Service Ribbion and AAM for maintaing shiny boots and parlayed them into tools to justify his bullshit PTSD claims in defrauding the VA.

While he is a scumbag, he does not strike me as staeling valor. What he is stealing, though, are funds and resources that could be going to other Veterans in need.

This man is a bottom feeder, no ifs, ands or buts about it. And by the looks of him, he has been given a lot of handouts. I have never seen a FAT, hungry homeless person until now.

Hondo

Jonn, I think the CID report concluded no one saw the actual shootings or who did them. SGT Cardinal falling down the hill after being shot out of sight might – or might not – have been visible from the grandstand or other firing points.

At most, that’s what Mailen saw, from about 200m away – a guy fall down a hill. That’s not exactly something that I’d expect to be a legitimate cause of PTSD.

Nicki

Wow! The dude looks like he consumed two SEALs for breakfast, and all you can do is make fun of his FEET? LOL!!!!

Ex-PH2

@24 – GT, in the Navy, the reference is a “skate” – an animal that lives on the bottom of the ocean, does nothing but sit there, and grab food whenever it swims by.

I have personally known more than one skate during my Navy days. One of them spent more time at the Coke machine and the extra chairs if everyone’s working space than anything else. He may have decided to get himself a bit of PTSD or VADC at some point, because he was on the loading dock in back, watching other people move dumpsters, and someone asked him for help, so he “leapt” to it, and got his thumb partially pinched off by the heavily-laden dumpster. It’s hard to hold a Coke bottle, and other, more important things, with part of your thumb missing, but he couldn’t get out on disability over it.

It’s also hard to hitch hike with a piece of your thumb missing…or shoot pool…or dip nachos…. 🙂

Spade

I was involved in a really bad accident on I-495 and am now disabled due to the horror of what I saw.

Okay, I only saw the accident.

Okay, I saw the accident on TV.

Okay, I actually heard about it on the radio.

Okay, a buddy of mine heard about it on the radio and told me about it three weeks later.

Green Thumb

Call me crazy but this clown could be the Fat Marine.

Lazy, filthy scumbag by day then out on the town as the Fat Marine by night.

His alter, unsuper, non-heroic poser ego.

BK

Looks like that land-bound dugong is eating well, at least.

He eats because he hates himself, and hates himself because he eats, and because what happened out of sight of him burned his broken mind forever. What a putz.

Twist

It looks like Fat Bastard is taking a nap after catching Mini-Me.
