Update on Patty Murray’s lies

| March 13, 2012

Yeah, I’m hanging on to this like a pitbull with a chew toy. This is in reference to the post I did last week about [Chair of the Senate’s Veteran Affairs Committee, Democrat-Washington] Patty Murray’s response to one of her constituents in Washington State. The constituent asked Murray why there are so many illegitimate recipients of VA benefits for being POWs. Murray responded that on July 7, 2009, she asked Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs Shinseki to look into the situation. Then she said that on May 14, 2010 Shinseki responded that DVA had completed a scrub of the records and had found only two such phonies.

Our insurgent on Capital Hill could find no such communication from Shinseki, so he asked me to call yesterday and ask for a copy of the letter from Murray to Shinseki, July 7, 2009. And I did, I talked to a polite young man by the name of Ben and told him the story and asked that he send me a copy of the letter. He went through all of the motions, then came back on the phone and said they were having trouble locating the letter, could he take my contact information and email me a copy. So we did that.

Having not heard anything, I called back this morning. Funny thing, when I called on my cell phone, which I used yesterday, my call went straight to v-mail. But when I called using a different phone, someone picked up immediately. I asked the young lady if I could speak to Ben and after leaving me on hold for a minute or so, she came back and told me that Ben was unavailable, but that she was familiar with my inquiry and that they were checking with [someone] to see if they’re allowed to share that letter with me and that they’d be getting back to me.

A little bird told me that no such letter exists, and they’re just hoping that my inquiry dies on the vine, but they must not know me very well. My next stop is the Washington Post, or the Washington Times, whichever finds this story more interesting.

Ben asked me for the URL of the blog twice, so; Hi, Ben.

keep at em John. I hate when congress critters get all squirrely.

Murray is the same POS that was foaming at the mouth about our involvement in Iraq; so how in the hell does someone like her, with no military experience whatsoever, get on the SVAC, and Chair, no less?

Old Tanker

Hey Ben, we’re watching…..

TSO

OT, Murray actually came around on Iraq quite a bit from where she started. Granted, she wasn’t pompoming and cheering us on, but our later meetings with her from Vets For Freedom had come a long way. I think Brian Baird coming around and finally supporting us may be the catalyst on that. But, of all the left coast Senators, I hate her the least. This POW/VA thing is a boon doggle, but generally speaking she’s good on our issues.

“Stay on it doggone it!”

defendUSA

Jonn…why don’t you see if you can cross-post on Breitbart? 🙂

Old Trooper

Sorry TSO, but I don’t share the same opinion of her. That’s cool and all, since you’re the more reserved and calm one and I’m the more grizzled and crabby one 🙂

TSO

I need to work with you guys.

“So and So sucks ass, and no matter what happens I will loathe him/her” = ignore complainers, file the complaint in cyllindrical cabinet.

“So and so occasionally works with us, and we appreciate that, and let’s hope he/she does that here” = arguable chance to get him/her to actually take up the issue and resolve it in your interest.

CI Roller Dude

Dude, there’s one thing I learned really well being a cop for so long…how to tell when somebody is bullshitting you. They are bullshitting you…there is no letter, but, they may make one up if this goes much further. Some people in power will say almost anything in an attempt to not look like they are stupid…but most of the time, they are not very good at telling a lie.

Old Trooper

“So and So sucks ass, and no matter what happens I will loathe him/her”

You make that sound like a bad thing 🙂

j/k

That’s why we have you to keep the diplomacy thingy going.

Have you tried contacting Shinseki’s office to see if THEY know about the letter they “sent?”

Sgt K

I’m betting the Post won’t be interested at all. Just a hunch.

There’s a video Murray after 9-11 talking about the good things that Bin Laden did in Afghanistan like building schools and daycare centers. She is dumber than a fencepost. I have dealt with her in person. Her staffers are by far the ones that run the show. I am embarassed as a life long Washington state resident everytime I see the little midget standing behind her party’s leadership!

Yat Yas 1833

Well like they say”How can you tell a politician is lying? THEIR LIPS ARE MOVING!”

GruntSgt

My wife is from Washington and every time she sees Murray on TV she mutters “God, not that mental midget bitch again, wonder when she’ll take advantage of that great Senate Dental Plan”. I have to ask her every time if she’s sure she was never in the Marine Corps.

Flagwaver

I definitely believe that you should contact Shinseki. Ask first, before submitting the FOIA (if possible). It might make things a little easier the next time you have to contact their office.

But, what do I know, I’m just a grunt. My idea of diplomacy is to ask them nicely and then beat them until they give in to your demands.

NHSparky

So lemme get this straight–Murray thinks it’s a good thing when Shinseki “scrubs” the files for 10 months and can only find two phony vets?

You know what they call that here or what the Schantags would call that?

A slow week.

Really, Taliban Patty, you should have just claimed ignorance or stupidity–that’s much more believable in your case. And Ben, shame on you ducking Jonn. Do you not realize that this is an issue important and that won’t just go away?

Nucsnipe

Here in WA state Patty is always trumpeting about how she is a veterans advocate in her campaign ads.

Nucsnipe

Hey Nucsnipe? Is she still wearing those damn sneakers she campaigned in?

Nucsnipe

Pretty sure she is no longer the “mom in tennis shoes”, and our other Senator should change her name from Cantwell to “Can’t Well” cuz she can’t do anything but does it well enough that the Seattle libs keep reelecting her.

what a hoot
