Kosovar sentenced to life for terrorist attack on airmen
Arid Uka, the Kosovar terrorist who killed two airmen at the Frankfurt, Germany airport while they waited for transportation, was sentenced to life in prison by a German judge this morning, according to Reuters;
Judge Thomas Sagebiel, reading the sentence out to the court in Frankfurt, cited aggravating circumstances, which is likely to prevent Uka from being released early after serving 15 years.
So, basically, he got a fifteen year sentence. That ought to scare the next guy off from committing a dastardly deed against US troops in Germany.

Sounds like we have a new target for a Predator’s hellfire in about 15 yrs–or a laser beam or whateverthehell we’re using then. If only the Germans will let us know when they’re releasing so we can task the birds…
Wait a minute; how does a “life sentence” equal 15 years? Is that what German courts consider a life sentence?
The article is badly written, I believe what they are saying is that Kosovar Won’t be released after 15 (a standard parole time frame for them I believe)years due to aggravating circumstances. He’s gonna be behind bars for a long long time.
More leniency from Eurotrash courts that obviously do not care about the security umbrella we’ve been providing them for 60+ years now. It’s time to leave Germany. Even Landstuhl. Every single servicemember out. They don’t want us there, and this horseshit sentence of 15 years is an insulting testament to that belief.
Man, killed two airmen and all he gets is life!? Anyone got any info on European prisons specifically ones in Germany? I mean I hear they’re not too bad, almost resort like… “likely” to prevent him from getting out before 15 years… so there’s a possibility that he could get out sooner?
Just hard to swallow that killing two unarmed men would get someone just “maybe” 15 years or more.
I guess EU math is different than that used in the real world. More progressive…
Guys, I think that Jacobite is correct about 15 years being standard practice in Germany for parole consideration for a life sentence absent “aggravating circumstances”. And the article clearly states that the finding of “aggravating circumstances” will likely prevent that.
Hell, that’s not much different from many jurisdictions in the US. In many US jurisdictions, a “life” sentence may end up being less than 20 years unless it’s “life without parole” (and that may not even be sufficient). Absent the “without parole” modifier, some US jurisdictions start considering “lifers” for parole after they’ve served 1/3 of their life expectancy. Since the bastard is 22, absent a “without parole” sentence he’d be considered for parole in those US locations after about 18 or 19 years.
I’d personally prefer to see this bastard dead. But since Germany doesn’t have the death penalty and he did his crime in Germany, there’s not much we can do.
For now. Different story if he’s ever released.
Just to make that clear, sentenced for live means normally 25 years in germany, aggravating circumstances just prevent the guy to get out on any way before his 15th year in jail. That’s the hardest penalty you can get in germany and i doubt the jerk Uka has to fear anything when he’s set free after that time…
There are more egregious examples of German justice-I have personal experience with such a case. In the late 70’s, An American soldier, ran a German girl on a bike off the road, offered her a ride, and then for an unknown reason, started to bludgeon/hack her with an ax while he was driving (he murdered her). Locals caught the SOB and the German authorities insisted on trying him in German courts under the SOFA agreement instead of letting Uncle Sam and the UCMJ handle his ass. I believe the Germans thought that would insure justice. He was convicted and got life in prison. But…..he was under 21, which made him a juvenile in the German system, which meant his maximum sentence was now 10 years, not life. He was a model prisoner, so he was scheduled for release after 5 years. He developed cancer, so the Germans were going to release him after serving just over 3 years. I only know this because I was on his Chapter 14 Administrative Separation Board.
While this case bothers me, it seems that the Germans have stiffened punishment up somewhat. I really think the German judge probably did everything he legally could to keep this POS behind bars.
“Life” in a nice cushy German jail. How punishing.
Send his sorry ass to a Mexican or Turkish prison. . . .
Maybe they’ll let him out early for terminal prostate cancer.
Crap, that one’s already been used.
He ought to feel lucky. In Iran they would have pelted him with squirrels till he died or something like that.
