Marine finally gets to be a man
I know, this sounds like one of those transgender stories, but its actually not. David Hassan, an Iraq War veteran was the victim of a misprint on his birth certificate which said the clearly male Hassan is a woman;
Hassan was not bothered by the mistake until he moved to New Jersey after serving in Iraq with the Marine Corp, and tried to get a New Jersey driving license.
His birth certificate identifying him as female raised eyebrows with the authorities, and the license was not issued, Peter Madison, Hassan’s lawyer, said in an interview.
In a bid to set the record straight, Lenox Hill Hospital gave Hassan a letter in 2007 to show to the city’s Department of Health, which explained that he was male and not female – although his problems were far from over.
“The city for reasons known only to themselves said that in the letter the hospital must state that it was their mistake,” Madison said. “Lenox Hill would not admit that it was their own mistake.”
I’m surprised the Marine Corps didn’t give him shit about it. But, anyway, he’s been battling the hospital since 2007 in court in order to get his sex changed by the bureaucracy which made the mistake. So congratulations to Mr. Hassan for finally getting some satisfaction in his bid to switch teams.

Thankfully now he can serve in combat.
I always thought that there was something more than a little strange about New Yorkers. Most people, particularly those in the medical field, can make the male/female distinction with a single glance.
And leave it to the New York bureauracy to find some excuse NOT to do the right thing simply because they can’t agree which particular bureaucrat screwed the pooch a quarter century ago.
Actually, I suspect that this is just anothen of Mayor Bloomberg’s attempts to take away an innocent man’s gun!
@TSO, he has been there and done that. A friend of mine from the 13th MEU, really funny dude and I think this is great. The comments on that story are ridiculous.
When my daughter was born, I asked for an itemized bill. I noticed an error on it and called the doctor’s office to tell them of the mistake. The reciptionist came back to me very sarcastically and said that there are no errors on your bill. I then said, ‘ok, see where I was charged $110 for a circumcision? Well, I had a girl so you either cut too much off or did not perform the procedure at all. Which is it?” The lady then apologized over and over and removed it from my bill. I still have that bill too.
In the spirit of @1… if he ever talked about a relationship with a woman while he was in, would that have been a violation of DADT?
maybe after the certificate gets changed he can finally be deflowered. ha ha
