Their fair share

| January 26, 2012

Yeah, you rich Americans are expected to pay your fair share, well, unless you rich Americans work for the Obama White House (Investors’ Business Daily link fixed);

A new report just out from the Internal Revenue Service reveals that 36 of President Obama’s executive office staff owe the country $833,970 in back taxes. These people working for Mr. Fair Share apparently haven’t paid any share, let alone their fair share.

Previous reports have shown how well-paid Obama’s White House staff is, with 457 aides pulling down more than $37 million last year. That’s up seven workers and nearly $4 million from the Bush administration’s last year.

Nearly one-third of Obama’s aides make more than $100,000 with 21 being paid the top White House salary of $172,200, each.

Raise taxes on the richer Americans, raise healthcare costs on veterans, end COLAs for retirees, so our betters can skip out on paying what they owe.

Thanks to ROS for the link.

To be honest, I’m getting tired of the who pays how much in taxes argument. When are we going to start getting back to basics, as in “no taxation without representation?” A muzzle on Warren Buffet would be nice too…

NHSparky

Nah, I don’t think anyone should be muzzled, even the trolls here, but I do believe that Buffett should, in the interest of full disclosure, reveal some items such as:

–How much his secretary is paid (between $200-500K)
–How much he owes the IRS ($700 million)
–Why he doesn’t sign over a check if he thinks he should pay more taxes. (see second bullet point)
–How much he stands to make shipping oil by rail now that Obama has shot down the XL pipeline for the time being.

You know, little shit like that.

UpNorth

Sparky, according to one site, if Buffet’s secretary is in the 35% bracket, she’s making more than $379,150 in taxable income. The site is here, http://www.moneychimp.com/features/tax_brackets.htm
So, the poor dear is not really hurting much.

Hard to enforce a zero tolerance rule of tax avoidance when the treasury secretary had to make his own amends.

For the sake of comparision, how much did Bush’s staff owe?

don

I dont want to hear about a “fair” share…I want to hear about an “equal” share.

Redacted1775

Bush is gone, get over it. 😉

Joe

He’s gone, I guess by the smiley face you’re almost as glad as I am. But statistics in a vacuum mean nothing. Give some points of comparision. Maybe Bush’s crew owed more. How much did his staff owe?

UpNorth

Joey, you ignorant troll, Bush is not in office. Your guy is, his staff is the one who, among other things, writes those pathetic speeches and gives out the talking points that the LSM uses. If they haven’t paid their taxes, that’s the story, after all, they’ve been drawing paychecks for 3 years, why haven’t they paid?
I realize that you’re just trying to distract us from the message, it won’t work.

Redacted1775

#9 That’s a wink, you tard. In any case when someone starts their post in regards to the current administration with “George Bush” or any variant thereof, I tend not to take it seriously. At all. I’m sure i’m not alone in this.

Joe

“Bush wasn’t out there telling everyone that they needed to pay their ‘fair share’.”

I mean that goes without saying, Obama is just stating the obvious. The fact that he has to stand up ahd say it is a reflection of how far we have sunk as a nation. And what’s he supposed to do, personally audit the returns of every minor level staff member? What’s your platform Jonn, “Cheat as much as you can and hope you don’t get caught”?

Trent

This just pisses me off. I work for the feds (BOP) and we just had our ethics training last week. Part of our ‘ethical training’ was just debts and taxes. I would get administrative leave without pay time or worse if I don’t pay my taxes. Yet, these MF’ers can do as they please without repercussion.

OK, let me ask you this: How much money is enough for the government? Where does government’s sense of entitlement to the fruits of my labor end?

“And what’s he supposed to do, personally audit the returns of every minor level staff member?”

Your side of the aisle expected Bush & Rumsfeld to personally supervise MPs on the night shift at Abu Ghraib (even though their unit commander couldn’t be bothered to do so herself), so, yes, I do expect Obama to audit his entire staff and ensure that they do, in fact, pay up. Fair is fair, after all.

Joe after the SOTU the other night. I’m missing Bush a lot. At least with him you got that he acknowledged the seriousness of the issues facing him. Obama glossed over the fact that he made so many mistakes that I just threw my hands up and gave up trying to correct him

ROS

Joe, exactly how many times do I have to ask you to take a long walk off a short pier? Bless your heart.

So, if Bush’s staff owed back taxes, that would make nearly a million owed by the bloated staff of King O null and void? Really, that’s your position?

Yat Yas 1833

Trent, I hear you. I work for the city of Phoenix, and except for a couple of things, a garnishment levied against you will get you, at a minimum a written reprimand and could lead to termination.
Yep, so much for comrade obama and his transparency.

Joe, a large number of Obama’s appointees have had serious tax problems. Bush’s did not, or else you regressives would be constantly throwing it in the nation’s face. Stop being obtuse. I’ll get you started by typing up “Obama appointee tax”. Here are a few links to get you started:

These are all from his first few months in office.

Typing in the same phrase substituting Bush’s name yielded nothing while he was president, and one housing appointee convicted of fraud while Bush was governor of Texas.

Wow, double post. Sorry about that.

More fun, Joe: 36 of his numerous (more than Bush had) aides still owe around $830,000 in back taxes.

Considering Obama’s Treasury Secretary is a tax cheat, I don’t think anyone expects him to give a daman about anyone in his administration, major or minor.

And love the way you invoke Bush. Really brings home the whole “Change We Can Believe In”.

Doc Bailey

You know I want to add this thought. What is Fair? This idea brings to mind two novels.

First is Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged, when a random “tramp” speaks out about the “progressive plan” which eventually destroys 20th Century motors. When you were assigned work based on ability, and only paid based on “need”. Soon honest men became thieves and men tried hard not to be deemed competent so they would not be forced to work extra, meanwhile the CEO had over 10,000 copies of a magazine lauding his payment plan.

Second is “Animal Farm”. After the revolution to overthrow the farmers, they pigs started taking to human vices. At first all animals were equal. Then when the pigs took over, some animals were “more equal than others”

Always the problem with being progressive, in the end your plans always run contrary to human nature.
