We’re ALL Wrong About OWS

| November 25, 2011

And I feel MUCH better now.

Over 150 Economists Sign Letter Of Support For OWS

Recently Newt Gingrich publicly dismissed the Occupy Wall Street movement as being nothing but unemployed, uneducated rabble in need of a bath.

Of course, this flippant label makes no sense to anyone that has visited an OWS encampment, talked with its supporters, or even lightly researched the movement.

To further disprove the idea that only idiot socialists would identify with OWS, a group of top economists from around the world recently released a statement supporting the movement (see below).

“We are economists who oppose ideological cleansing in the economics profession. Equally we oppose political cleansing in the vital debate over the causes and consequences of our current economic crisis.

We support the efforts of the Occupy Wall Street movement across the country and across the globe to liberate the economy from the short-term greed of the rich and powerful “one percent”.

We oppose cynical and perverse attempts to misuse our police officers and public servants to expel advocates of the public good from our public spaces.

We extend our support to the vision of building an economy that works for the people, for the planet, and for the future, and we declare our solidarity with the Occupiers who are exercising our democratic right to demand economic and social justice.”

See… Don’t you feel bad now?

Well, yes, that certainly clears that up.

Great. Just great. They had many more ‘scientists’ sign-on with the global warming nonsense so I guess this tiny number of economists is encouraging. And, for the record, I do not care that someone, say, such as Barack Hussein Obama, gets paid 6 or 7 million for a children’s book or Chancellor Kitmeh of UC Davis gets paid bewteen 400,000-500,000 per year in salary and benefits to decry our peacekeepers in a Greek accent. That’s fine with me.

Sorta funny how all those economist’s are signing up for communism, isn’t it?

Alice

This “proof” requires you accept that “top economist” and “idiot socialist” are necessarily mutually exclusive.

Tman

Clear as mud, as they say.

Do these economist morons even care to look at what the OWS turds are doing everyday?

Smoking dope, committing crimes, camping out, obstructing traffic in busy city intersections, yea, all of that is soooo ‘effective’ in bringing “change.”

faboutlaws

Not a stinkin’ one of them from the University of Chicago. That tells me everything I need to know. A bunch of tenured communists.

UpNorth

So, I guess this requires the “willing suspension of disbelief”? After looking over the list of “economists” who endorse the Occutards, I’ve come to an inescapable conclusion.
Amherst College, among many others, has too many “professors” or “economists” on the faculty.
But, better these asshats spend their time trying to justify sloth, criminality and criminals, and envy than actually, you know, try to teach those skulls full of mush.

AW1 Tim

You what they say about economists, right? Ask 5 economists the same question and you’ll get seven different answers.

Patrick B

You don’t want these people to have to work do you? I mean the economists not the OWS …

Pat

How many friggin economists do they have in Massachusetts?!?!

NotSoOldMarine

If the right can find 150 climate scientists who don’t believe in climate change the left can find 150 economists who support the OWS movement.

Nooooo. . . . they’re not idiot socialists. They’re over-educated academia ivory tower egghead head-up-their-fourth-point-of-contact-breathing-their-own-fumes economist idiot socialists.

Doc Bailey

so wait you mean that these idiots aren’t advocating a totally fiscally unsound policy? Cuz, i mean taxing the shit out of the people actually making money, is TOTALLY the way to make the economic system work

NR Pax

Doc, it will work this time because they are the right people. Didn’t you get the memo?

OWB

So, how’s about taking everything that everyone has. 100% taxation, at the very least. That would pay for, what? Maybe a half year of the current incumbent protection/election/reelection schemes? What do you do the following year when no one (except elected officials) have anything left?

Oh, yeah. Makes perfect sense…

UpNorth

“We oppose cynical and perverse attempts to misuse our police officers and public servants to expel advocates of the public good from our public spaces.”. That statement just proves that the “economists” have no clue that public spaces belong to, you know, the public. I missed the memo that public spaces are devoted to the breeding of scabies, lice, crabs, drug resistant strains of several diseases, defecating in public, rape, assault, and creating toxic, unsafe no-go zones.
But, anyone with a college-age kid should study the list and thank the listers, this is a public service. The parents should make sure that any “institution of higher learning” does not get a penny of their money, by making sure their child doesn’t go to any of the colleges listed.

UpNorth. We must have attended the same schools and had the same life experiences because you would not believe how many times you have said precisely what I was thinking. The latest is that “public service” business. Yesterday I thought, “Isn’t that nice, they’ve provided a ready list of schools to avoid.”
