Evil PATRIOT Act signed
So the extension of provisions of the PATRIOT Act was signed last night by the President. The same PATRIOT Act provisions that the Democrats beat up President Bush with during his tenure – including roving wiretaps.
I’m all for the PATRIOT Act because it’s one of the reasons we’ve not been attacked successfully in the past ten years, but the Democrats are being disingenuous (naturally) about the danger it posed a few short years ago which has suddenly dissipated since a Democrat is the executive.
In fact, it was so imperative, that the President had to be awakened in order to sign it with a remote electronic pen from France just before the provisions expired at midnight. Didn’t the President campaign for office disparaging the PATRIOT Act and roving wiretaps?
So what the hell have they really been bitching about all of these years?

What have they been bitching about? It was the evil BUSH that did it. We all know how he abused the Patriot Act, while the Obasm is all about unicorns and protecting us.
Interesting tidbit: Joe Biden is credited with being the primary author of the original Patriot Act.
Don’t know whether that’s true or not. But, I don’t credit the Patriot Act – I credit the great Americans, and our great Allies who did (and do) everything they can to prevent attacks.
But, we still got Obama. So I guess the Taliban’s winning.
The difference is that there is a big distinction in talking about something and actually having to be responsible for something.
Wow. I just happened to come across the website, and can honestly say that I’ve never seen anything as disgusting as it in a long time. These blogs do NOTHING but encourage political debates based soley off of parties! For instance this blog, rather than discussing the evils of the patriot act, which it totally is and you’re a moron for supporting, you would rather focus on the party lines!

@4- One political party in this country used the Patriot Act as a bludgeon to beat the other with for about 8 years, scoring many political points. When it came time to renew it, they renewed it in the dead of night while no one was looking. There was no outrage from the perpetually outraged. That’s the topic of this post. Not the evils or benefits of the Patriot Act, but who supported it, and when.

Not when party politics are brought into play, teddy. Of course, our late-to-the-party noob conveniently forgets who authored a large portion of the PA language–or more correctly, plagairized it from someone else. IIRC, his current residence is on the grounds of the Naval Observatory.
