Pelosi saved or created jobs for military pilots and stewards

| January 27, 2011

Yeah, while you were out looking for a job last year, trying to feed your family and not lose your house, Nancy Pelosi was flying 90,000 miles in military aircraft and apparently the Air Force footed the bill for countless airborne parties and celebrations. I don’t usually link to Judicial Watch, but;

Former Speaker Pelosi received chocolate covered strawberries as a birthday surprise on a March 26, 2010 flight. According to one internal Air Force email sent on March 25, 2010: “The speaker’s office is requesting egg salad sandwiches on wheat toast with fruit (watermelon, etc) for desert [sic]. It’s the speaker’s B-Day tomorrow so we’re also asking for something like chocolate covered strawberries (dark chocolate preferred)…” The immediate response to the email from another member of the Air Force staff: “Copy all. We’ll plan something for the birthday and take care of the meal.”

According to previous documents uncovered by Judicial Watch, the former Speaker’s military travel cost the United States Air Force $2,100,744.59 over one two-year period — $101,429.14 of which was for in-flight expenses, including food and alcohol. For example, purchases for one Pelosi-led congressional delegation traveling from Washington, DC, through Tel Aviv, Israel to Baghdad, Iraq May 15-20, 2008, included: Johnny Walker Red scotch, Grey Goose vodka, E&J brandy, Baileys Irish Cream, Maker’s Mark whiskey, Courvoisier cognac, Bacardi Light rum, Jim Beam whiskey, Beefeater gin, Dewar’s scotch, Bombay Sapphire gin, Jack Daniel’s whiskey, Corona beer and several bottles of wine.

It’s so nice to know that our elected officials spend tax payer money on their own comfort and entertainment in such a lavish fashion. We need Marie Antoinette-types to keep us in our place.

While I realize that not all that mileage was to/from her district, even at 5000 miles a pop that’s 18 round trips. I just checked on Kayak and a round-trip, first-class, non-stop airfare from Reagan National to San Francisco goes for about $2000. So 18 times $2K is $36,000 for ONE YEAR.

Now consider that Stretch spent nearly 60 TIMES THAT AMOUNT in one year. And they wonder why we’re pissed.

I’d give anything to be able to talk to any of the Presidential Fleet ground crew to get their feelings about these scum sucking bottom feeders. Unfortunately, a former AF s/sgt, third wiper on the Fleet carries, no weight.
And all that booze! Geez, no wonder Botox Nan always acted like she bombed. Bombed? Can I say that?

Jacobite

For cryin out loud, if they’re gonna waste my tax dollars on booze couldn’t they at least have the courtesy to consume beverages with some class?!

JW Red, Dewar’s, and Corona? Phhhhht!!

You know…I don’t really have a problem with our politicians using military aircraft to travel. It protects our officials, and gives the military personnel a chance to get some of their hours in with their aircraft.

What makes me see red and ruins my blood pressure is the obvious and obnoxious attitude by those officials toward our military. It very much appears that they think of them — and treat them — like servants.

I’ve got a solution to this problem that was inspired by a dear family friend, Col. (Ret.) Rupert McPherson, and his wife, Florence. They traveled the world after retirement seeing things they’d always wanted to see. And they did 90% of their flying on military aircraft as stand-by passengers. Active duty military needs took priority but there was some rule that the Colonel and his wife could still fly, space available. Why not stuff our Congresscritters onboard already scheduled military flights, space permitting?

Barring that, I would suggest an allowance for each Congresscritter and one (1) staffer for coach class tickets. Any other staffers gets paid for out of the Congresscritters own pockey. Likewise, any upgrades to Business of First class would be paid for by the Congresscritter. This would also apply to any Cabinet members as well. Congress keeps claiming they want to cut costs. I think that this is one way to dramatically cut them.

Claymore….needed a spew alert on that one!

What really bothers me is how Nancy et. al. (Gore etc), preach to us how we have to conserve, how we have to buy electric cars we don’t want, how we need to bla, bla, bla, but are completely oblivious as to how Imperial they are. Just like the Hollywood crowd.

Corona beer? WTF? They couldn’t get German krystalweissen or Guiness?

It’s one thing to waste our money – its another to be cheap about what’s bought!

Geeeeezzzzzz
