Duff: the real fakers are the Vietnam vets who say they were spat upon
I’m sure you remember Michael Hamilton, the fake veteran who rocketed from private to colonel in just eight years. Well, TSO sent me a link from Gordon Duff who claims he would have spotted Hamilton years ago the first time Hamilton told him that he was spat upon in an airport.
Those of us who served in Vietnam, really served in Vietnam, know that none of this ever happened. 40 years later I am still dangerous in an airport, cranky, irritable, raging PTSD and suffering from claustrophobia. I would rather be dragged behind a car, through a barbed wire fence than get on an airplane anymore.
Duff goes on to recount his experience with the VA, how they claimed his records were burned. He perpetuates the myth that he is 100% disabled…without mentioning whether his disability is related to his military service as a Battalion TOC Rat in Vietnam. His records, which weren’t burned because TAH has them, don’t mention a period in his eighteen month career when he could have identified as a casualty, since two days after he landed from Vietnam, he was out and on his way home as a civilian.
Anyway, Duff thinks that “we” tolerated Hamilton because he said what we wanted to hear. Kinda like the IVAW hires Jesse MacBeth and Rick Duncan because of their lies.
This guy, the darling of the Veterans Service Organizations, you know who we mean, the ones the VA loves so much, got his claim through, no service record book, no DD-214, no medical records, no witnesses, no real medals, no combat records, no wounds, all he had to do was say “airport spitter” a few times and they just threw the money at him.
If there is going to be an investigation by the VA Inspector General (VAOIG), it should be, not just Mike Hamilton but every person that touched his file, every person that made a phone call, applied pressure, every person who assisted an obvious phony because they liked his politics.
There is a story here, much more than we are being told. Hamilton wouldn’t have done the damage he did if he didn’t have so many willing to buy into the filth he was spewing.
Well, TSO and I can’t find out to which VSO Hamilton endeared himself. All of the VSOs I know check military records. I don’t know which one checks the spittle quotient of your war stories. It must be the VSO that exists only in the addled mind of Duff.
In his article, Duff is consistently confused about Hamilton’s records. Hamilton did spend nine months in Marines – half the time that Duff spent in the Marines before Duff became an expert on military policy. In fact, Hamilton wasn’t discharged for five years, so that gives him more time-in-service than Duff.

BTW, Duff and others of his ilk are full of shit about one thing, at least.
I was spit AT and I saw others hit. We were in uniform passing through SFO in late April/early May 1969. I DO remember the phrase ‘baby killers’ being tossed in our direction.
And, Jonn, I did consider leaving this comment under his post, but didn’t see much point?
Jonn,
Is this guy saying Vietnam vets were never ever spat upon? If so, he’s full of shit – plain and simple.
I watched my father in his dress greens get spit upon when I was young and he never broke stride, never gave the woman the time of day after she spit on him and called him a baby-killer.
It was one of the most significant learning moments of my young life. The pride for the country and uniform kept my father from reacting to her and he told me so. He also said that this incident had been the fifth time he had been spat upon since he arrived home.
Gordon Duff cannot claim to have known every Vietnam vet. I saw one that was spit on and am proud to call him “Dad”
Hell, I’ve been spat upon & called a “Baby Killer” in the early days of my Navy Career. I wasn’t ever in Viet Nam and didn’t have anything to even indicate I was ever there (ribbons, medal, etc). It was just because I was military. (That was back in 1975, though)
Furthermore, I’ve seen pictures of the idiot hippies spitting on our Viet Nam Vets. So, both through personal experience and captured photos, I KNOW that the hippies were out there, en masse, treating our Vets like shit.
I was one of many that had balloons filled with paint, blood and God knows what else thrown at us in ’74. They ruined a set of class-A’s I was wearing. This was at Utah State University, and I was a member of the Army ROTC group at that time. The assmaggots attacking us were from the YSA, the “Young Socialists Alliance”, and other assorted ne’er do wells.
I’d tell Duffy to kiss my ass, but I don’t want his diseased lips anywhere near me.
Real simple, Gordons a Lying cocksucker. Here is a link to a January 1971 CBS interview with a Medic -Sp/4 Delmar Pickett Jr.who was spit upon in the Seattle airport.

I’m surprised you guys haven’t heard that the spitting on Soldiers during Vietnam is an urban legend to discredit the anti-war movement.
This was brought up in a book published in 1998 written by Jerry Lembcke. Here is the link to the book review:
http://www.amazon.com/Spitting-Image-Memory-Legacy-Vietnam/dp/0814751474
His book is now used by all of the liberal organizations as proof positive it never occurred and that in fact the protesters were the ones actually being spit on.
I wouldn’t recommend reading it unless you have something to punch nearby.

This link has some interesting comments, you can’t say all these veterans and their loved ones are lying about being spat upon:

On another note, there is video proof of someone spitting on a vet relatively recent:
Tman #9: Interesting link along with the comments.
One element that caught my eye was the idea that we were spit at by government agent provocateurs? And I thought I was paranoid?
Still… Either we weren’t spit at (and called names) OR it did happened but hippies didn’t do it.
I confess I don’t much care.
