Happy Veterans Day! The Department of Veterans Affairs website has listed some establishments that offer veteran discounts. In addition to the discounts, we get free entertainment in the form of individuals taking to social media to complain about the voters who did not vote their way. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Veteran’s Day

It’s the soldier, not the reporter who has given us

Freedom of the Press.

It’s the soldier, not the poet, who has given us

Freedom of Speech.

It’s the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the

Freedom to Demonstrate.

It’s the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the

Right to a Fair Trial.

It’s the soldier who salutes the flag, serves under the flag and

whose coffin is draped by the flag,

Who gives the protestor the right he abuses to burn the flag.

Hack Stone

Hack Stone just got yet another call from “Home Improvement”. So of course the guy was confused when Hack Stone asked if Tim Allen was there with him. They “prowide” services such as roofing, flooring and windows. Next time when they mention windows, Hack is going to ask if the do Adobe and Red Hat too.

President Elect Toxic Deplorable Racist SAH Neande

…..Tim Allen….
ROFLOL!!

His TV wife was very easy on the eyes. And cool toys in the garage.

…and a comedian is born!

Hack Stone

Rodney Dangerfield sold aluminum siding before making it big. Hack Stone is selling quality outdated and overpriced Red Hat Software.

In recognition of Veteran’s Day, Phil Monkress of All Points Logistics will be offering a complementary tug as he juggles the balls of active duty members and veterans.

Glad to see Phildo getting into the mix and helping out those from which he has stolen so much.

Hack Stone

He provides free hernia checks for all veterans.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank myself for serving.
Had I not stepped forward I never would have found this blog.

Currently watching Von Ryan’s Express on one of those retro television channels. Can’t count the number of times sitting down on the couch with Poppa Stone in the wood grain paneled family room watching this classic on a big ass floor model RCA Cathode Ray Tube television. Was Von Ryan related to Private Ryan?

26Limabeans

Isn’t it the Von Ryan belt that emits all that xray shit or was it
the old CRT tubes in early TV’s?
I recall seeing Kruschev bang his shoe on the UN desk while
my mother ironed dads shirts.
It was one of those round CRT’s. No wonder I went Signal.

jeff LPH 3 63-66

I remember the shoe banging on TV back in the day. A few people in my neighborhood had backyard bomb shelters.

SgtM

God I feel old,I know what you’re talking about.

On the 11th hour, of the 11th day of the 11th month the guns fell silent in the “war to end all wars”. Let us this day remember all of us, living and dead, who answered our nations call. Further let us strive and pray for the day that all of the guns fall silent and the need for man to kill his brothers is sisters is no more and the glory of our lord is upon us. Amen

President Elect Toxic Deplorable Racist SAH Neande

Amen.

The only time I can see for man to kill his brothers and sisters is:
-All the Neo-Cons that get us into wars where we don’t belong (looking at all the Kongress Kritters that got us into Affy and Ukraine) (also those that urged, aided and abetted the southern illegal alien invasion)
-All those that would invade and attack the US (cartels, anyone?)

In those cases, I would see any killings done on our part as self-defense.

Graybeard

Amen and Amen, RG.

Biblically, we learn that the wars among men will continue as long as men are at war with God.
When the Lord returns for the Final Battle, all who hate Him will be defeated (the descriptions imply a lot of dead enemies) and He will put an end to all wars.

Until then, we have the duty to proclaim the Gospel that Peace can be had with God, and defend the innocent against those who would harm them – even if it involves war.

But Peace is coming!

When I think of 11/11/11, I remember Lieutenant Hilmar Baukhauge’s poem:

November Eleventh

We stood up and we didn’t say a word,

It felt just like when you have dropped your pack

After a hike, and straightened out your back

And seem just twice as light as any bird.

Soldiers on Armistice Day, 1918, AP photo

We stood up straight and, God! but it was good!

When you have crouched like that for months, to stand

Straight up and look right out toward No-Man’s-Land

And feel the way you never thought you could.

We saw the trenches on the other side

And Jerry, too, not making any fuss,

But prob’ly stupid-happy, just like us.

Nobody shot and no one tried to hide.

If you had listened then I guess you’d heard

A sort of sigh from everybody there,

But all we did was stand and stare and stare,

Just stare and stand and never say a word.

At the 11th Hour I will drag myself to the Church Cemetery just outside the wire of Fire Base Magnolia and visit with some of the WWI Vets that are resting there. I won’t make any of the “Services” in the Little Big Town up the Big Road, nor will I “partake” of the “Free Lunch” hordes.

Stole this linky from Phil and Ced @ Bustedknuckles…got some nice WW1 Original prints plus some (NSFW) gun pr0n girlz. All well worth the looksee…

It Poser Day today. Them motherfuckers will be out. To include the sub-standard discharge group seeking their free cheeseburger based upon less that six months service.

I’m thinking this is the main reason I’m just staying home this year. I would hate to have to impose on this community for bail, which given my current mood and the significance of the day, would surely be needed.

No Applebee’s for me this year, either.

Like others, I plan to stick close to the homestead on this fine day. I’ll be venturing forth in a few minutes to pick up my Senior from school, then making a quick (hopefully) stop by Walmart for some steaks and supplies. Otherwise, the dogs and I concur that we’ll spend the day resting and storing energy for frivolous adventures tomorrow.

I thought the boy had more sense, but I ain’t been payin’ attention to him much, neither.

Apparently, he ain’t country! Glad I saw that bow, was thinking about going to see his show next month.. now, he can do without my coin..

Story time…

When I met my wife, I’d sneak up through the hole in the floor in her closet, which her dad had cut out after the water heater (“hot water heater” to annoy some) had rotted it out and took some time to fix. I’d crouch under there for hours at times, waiting for her to come in to cover any noise I’d make and getting bitten by who knows what kind of spiders. Our 26-year-old should thank me for my dedicated service.

Anyway, at the time, K95 was the Country station in the Richmond area, with Catfish (a Vietnam Vet who left us last year: Country music fans remember beloved radio host Catfish: ‘He basically built K95’), and the syndicated After MidNite on every night. Garth Brooks was a regular, and I liked some of his songs back then. The Dance and others are hard to dismiss as mere mindless pop music (though Brooks definitely contributed to making Pop Country). My wife was a fan of Country at the time, so I often fell asleep listening to Garth Brooks’ music.

When I was still a devoted follower of Johnny Morris, we got a substantial discount off of the Bass Pro exclusive box set. I think I could have gotten the 7-CD set for around $5 (about $40 regular cost). I passed. Garth Brooks should have stayed in retirement.

Know and respect your target demographic. Country music used to be about blue-collar people struggling to get by, but now it’s led by young wannabe rappers, popstars, and older singers struggling to stay relevant to the younger masses while disowning the very country their predecessors were devoted to. Brooks can move elsewhere to no fanfare. His best contributions to music were 30+ years ago, and he’s been that perpetual “friend in low places” ever since.

So it’s Veterans Day I figured I’d post some pictures

I put in a request for Swift boats back in the early days and I was a young kid screwup so Gunners Mate Smitty GM6 comes over to me on the hanger bay after he sees me and says, Kid, I don’t think this transfer is for you. Later in life I thought that maybe they would have Smitty talk me out of it maybe thinking that I would sink the Swift Boat instead of the VC. So I stayed aboard as a Snipe

Skippy

Below is a news paper article on my uncle bob and his team doing patrols in the Mekong Delta area

These two individuals were lifelong friends of my dad and uncle Gary this photo I believe is from Hue Vietnam 67-69

I put out my flags this morning. For both the living and those that died. Mostly family.

And remember what Patton said: It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.

As the proud father of an Army Infantry officer(2013-2021) I want to wish you all a happy Veterans Day and thank you for serving🇺🇸

My thanks to all who have served or are serving America in the armed services. I’m wearing my CVN-65 shirt to honor my dad’s service as a Navy Nuke. He may not be a war hero, but he’s my hero.

Partook of none of it.

Sounds like my sister took dad ( Vietnam Vet, Bronze star during Tet) to a dentist appoint at VA yesterday, got him a free lunch at Chilis and a free haircut. I’d say he earned it.

Love ya Dad!

Hack Stone

Hack was at the Fort Belvoir Exchange on Monday. Current cost for a haircut on base is closing in on $18. Back when Hack Stone first got to 29 Stumps, October 1981, a haircut on base was $1.75. My, my, how things have changed.
