Happy Columbus Day! Today would be a good day to recommend “Death of the Fifth Sun”. I read this book about 30 years ago, it would make for a good movie, the kind that Mel Gibson makes. The story is told from the perspective of the Native Americans. If you’re into history fiction, this book is worth the read.

In honor of Indigenous Columbus Day I would like to point out several truths that the Native Americans discovered.
Firstly they discovered the profound effects of what happens when you don’t control illegal immigration into your lands. Secondly the word and written contract of the US Federal Government when promising to protect your rights, lands and people are only worth what you can enforce at the end of a gun barrel and nothing else. Lastly if your religion is a little bit different than how most of the population worships, they may eventually let you do it, it just takes 200 years.
Hack is wondering if all of the Woke posting on Facebook decrying the celebration of White European conquest are taking the day off. And do they get whiplash from saying that America is stolen land from the mostly peaceful indigenous people who lived in perfect harmony and didn’t even know what a horse was until Columbus arrived, then say that all people are welcome here and borders are racist?
All land was taken from somebody, unless it was bought that is.
This was always our land. They just happened to arrive here first 😉
Indians killing and enslaving each other was just “anecdotal” all the times it happened, right?
It was very “anecdotal” for the poor bastard who was murdered by them. There is a collection of first-person anecdotal accounts of what it was like to be captured by our Native Americans during the colonial period up through the 1880’s in the book, “Captured by the Indians.”
But it’s okay when idians do it, for left/libtards.
Nah. Human sacrifice is still outlawed.
So far.
Meh, they didn’t have that in what is now the USA. That was more of an Aztec thing with a few others in Mesoamerica and Central America. But in 1978 the US dropped practically all restrictions on otherwise illegal acts that were considered part of their tribal religious rituals.
“Practically all” are the key words.
It was also practiced by some cultures in South America. There’s even an area in Illinois where they found evidence of human sacrifice (Mississippian Culture).

Have you heard of Planned Parenthood?
Is that an indigenous tribe?
Human sacrifice may be outlawed, but All Points Logistics fully embraces career sacrifice. It says something about the leadership skills of Phil Monkress that his employees are willing to lose their jobs, their homes, their life savings and their reputations to ensure that Phil Monkress never has to answer about his well publicized claims of being a US Navy SEAL.
All Points Logistics; Where Uncommon Sense is a Common Virtue.
A better comparison to what is happening with uncontrolled immigration in the US would be the last major part of Ancient Roman history… The Late Antiquity. The Western Roman Empire didn’t just face invasions, but mass migrations from outside the Roman Empire. The native Roman birthrate was declining around the time. Although the Germanic tribes Romanized, they also brought in enough of their culture and way of doing things that Western Roman Civilization transformed from what we see in the movies to what we associate with Medieval Europe… Before the dates that scholars point to as the “Fall of the Western Roman Empire”. Even the last units of the Roman army looked like a Medieval army.
The Native Americans were no angels on their end, there’s one event where Montezuma voluntold the leaders of conquered nations to attend a massive ceremony… They watched as their own men got sacrificed in a ritual that led to thousands being sacrificed that day. It was this and other brutal Aztec activities against the conquered natives that contributed to Cortez’s gaining Native American warriors as allies.
The history with the arrival of the Europeans continued a trend that occurred throughout the world, including powerful nations subjugating weaker nations.
It’s not Roman Empire Day.
Not yet, but we’ll have the paint ready.
Historical realities run independent of what day it is during the year.
For vivid depictions of the Aztecs, watch Gibson’s movie “Apocalypto.” I took an anthropology class from a professor, Dibble, who was a foremost authority on Mesoamerican civilizations. That movie accurately portrays the Aztecs.
Yup. “Apocalypto” featured mainly the Mayans, I came to that conclusion as well, about how the Aztecs and other cultures in this area were also like this. A lot of their battle strategies involved capturing people for sacrifice.
When I saw that film, I remembered “Death of the Fifth Sun” and thought that Mel Gibson should’ve also done a movie based on that book. If you liked “Apocalypto,” you’ll also like “Death of the Fifth Sun”.
Their battles were called “flower wars.” Their principal objective was the capture of prisoners for sacrifice in ceremonies atop the pyramids.
In for 2nd. The first loser.

3rd. I’d say something smart, but it’s too earyl.
Does this mean that Hack Stone’s Reina’s ruler of the Open Thread is no longer?
The WOT, HOT, MOT, ROT, etc., are different contests. You still reign for WOT first until the next WOT, where you’ll compete to remain on the WOT throne.
Kind of like Miss Universe and Miss World contests? The biggest difference is that The Miss World Contest is only open to the residents of Earth, whereas The Miss universe Contest is open to the entire galaxy, but so far inhabitants of Earth seem most likely to win.

A couple of days late, but now Chicoms hassle Taiwan about their president’s speech… remember it’s still an optimal time to move on the island:

Maybe. Taiwan still pissed-off:

Another Good historical novel from the native POV is Aztec by Gary Jennings. It was very controversial at the time for the depictions of human sacrifice and a lot of truth telling about the Catholic Church and he got a lot of push back, saying it weren’t so. However, he backed it all up.
The Day of the Shekel it will be called from now on…

Turns out ol’ Chris was a Sephardi Jew. So now all the anti-semites get to tag in. Guy can’t catch a break.

Antisemitism is so hip today, even the ‘ Anti Fascist’ Far Left have gotten in on the action.
So, now there is a new reason for the Proggy college students and the Pali-Nazi protestors to hate poor Columbus.
And another one

With your phone or camera?? I may have to break out my Canon eos and give it a try.
iPhone 15 pro max
I’ve not progressed beyond my old Iphone SE 😐
I wonder which tribe Phil Monkress is claiming today?
Kum-Hella Harryass is of The Immaho Tribe. She’s probably planning on getting together with Chief Shitting Bull, Liz Warrin’.
Kamala’s hubby has roots in the Slapaho nation.
Shoot, I had the same thought, but you beat me to the reply button.
I’m grounded with Covid, got nothing to do but hang out here and be a dickweed.
And you do it so well.
Don’t forget ‘ Indigenous Canadian ‘ icon Bluffy Santa Maria (who is neither)
Yet conned her way onto special edition stamps from Canada Post. Oddly enough, they are no longer available for purchase.
No big loss. I always thought Buffy sounded like a goat getting a prostate exam from Freddy Krueger.
Liz Warren’s tribal name is “Grounded Turkey”, meaning a bird that’s too full of shit to fly!
She has a lot of them. Fauxcohontas, Lying Dog, etc…
Went to the Trump rally in P.V. yesterday, had a good time. Surprisingly KKKatie Hobbs was not there.
Pretty sure she was bunkered up in her basement, hiding from that mean ol’ orange man.
Present.
For “Indigenous People History” reading I highly recommend History of the Ojibway People by William W. Warren (himself an Ojibway) which recounts the oral history of the Ojibway with their conflict with the Sioux and how kindly (not) they treated each other.
But……I thought the Indigenous people of North America were peaceful folk who grew organic maize, smoked peacepipes during drum circles. Basically hippies in buckskin
Nope. They enslaved, genocided each other , ‘stole’ land and cannibalised each other, just like everyone else on the planet at some point.
They would have invaded and colonised Europe if they had the tech and numbers.
They had everything right at their fingertips to make the finest blackpowder and steel on the planet.
But….alas
Massacring 84,000 men, women and children is right up there with NAZI level murdering. But they did it in celebration of their beautiful Aztec culture. How harmonious with the environment.
Peaceful Hawaiian indigenous people would take the teeth of their slain enemies and make toilet bowl inlays with them..
A lot of the stuff they did was similar to the black clans in Africa. Slow Tuesday, let us raid the neighboring village, kill the men, rape the women, and take their stuff.
84,000 people? Pfft. Planned Parenthood says “Hold my skull crushing pliers.” Speaking of Planned Parenthood, one time Hack got a little interested in statistics, and ran the numbers of African Americans killed by the Ku Klux and Planned Parenthood. Throughout the entire history of the KKK, murders of African Americans attributed to the KKK ran about 3446 in an 76 year span. Planned Parenthood exceeds that number every four days.
That reminds me of the old one about Crimestoppers rewarding ‘urban’ clients for visiting Planned Parenthood
Or, one could watch the classic movie, “The Robe,” that depicts how kindly the Injun tribes of the Eastern US treated everyone outside their tribes, back in colonial times.

Did a little research. Apparently, she was in charge of things at the NSA when the KAL-55B (Whiz Wheel) was invented.
Good on her.
Who knew she created the Wiz Wheel. Every RTO in the Viet of the Nam. Did she create the one-day crypto pads too?
Left off …Nam had one.
Maybe she invented them too, but I can’t even imagine the brain power involved to come up with something like the Whiz Wheel and all of its associated moving parts.
Musta been one hell of a lady that kept a very low profile.
The first time I ever saw one was when it was wielded by my first RTO in the 4th ID in the RVN back in 1970. He taught me how to work it, in case I had to do so. I got a kick out of how he used his jungle fatigue pants as a writing tablet when I gave him our coordinates.

Hey, is it spamming to post back-to-back unrelated stories in an Open Thread?
Things Stupid People Do: Argument Over Chores Leads to Gun Play
Who’s responsible for doing these dishes? In yet my second reference within a month to the hit television show, It’s Always Sunny In Philidelphia, a Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, man is facing charges after authorities say he fired a gun at another man during an argument over, of all things, the dishes!

Spamming is half the point of an open thread. Keeps the others from getting clogged by providing a relief valve on weekends and holidays when people have to much time on their hands.
Since we’re talking spam.

Maybe he wrote it. Hack Stone thinks he may be one of narcissistic guys, you know the ones, who always speak of themselves in the third person. Hack Stone hates those guys.
That’s a great obituary, certainly worthy of being shared among this basket of Deplorables.
Harmonicas and kids take up less room than kids and drum sets on long road trips. I wonder if the harmonicas made it home or are now littering some highway somewhere.

Happy Columbus Day 2024!
That Christopher guy sailed his dick off, and we’re all better for it.
Take the day (where applicable), put yer feets up, crack a cold one, and thank goodness this ain’t fucking europe.
Schlitz also had the wide mouth jar. Kinda like Kamala Harris was with Willy Brown.
Mickey’s still has those.
They still make mickeys?

“Indigenous Day” my ass, Christopher Columbus introduced DIVERSITY to North America, and many Settlers were REFUGEES, so there, the leftist moonbats can mix that in their bong water and drink it!!! 😀😊😀😁

I say Trump gives this guy $100,000 and let him just eat the fine or we set up a go fund me to pay the hundred dollars a day.
🤣🫡🖕🖕🖕
$100 × “x” days to election = I’ll eat the fine just for spite.
Cease and desist these nuts.
The town can try and fine him, at great cost to the tax chattle.
I’m about it.
He is just beaming an image. If the town doesn’t like, they can move the water tower. 🥴

(Headline) Far-right site Gateway Pundit settles defamation suit with election workers
Website removed articles falsely accusing Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss of wrongdoing in 2020 election
(pastes)
After the 2020 election, the Gateway Pundit published a series of stories amplifying a misleading video that showed Freeman and Moss counting ballots. The site pushed the false claim that the two women were committing fraud and counting illegal ballots after counting had ended for the night. The Gateway Pundit was the first news outlet to identify Freeman and later identified Moss, who have been cleared of all wrongdoing.
The site’s founder, Jim Hoft, had refused to concede that the site said anything false about the women, even though the state quickly debunked accusations of wrongdoing and a longer investigation formally cleared them. Hoft and his twin brother, Joe, also a contributor, held a press conference in Milwaukee during the Republican national convention in July and repeated many of the false claims about Freeman and Moss.
The settlement with the Gateway Pundit is notable because of the influential role the site plays in spreading misinformation. One recent analysis by the group Advance Democracy found that the site is continuing to spread false information about voting and seed the idea that the 2024 election could be stolen.

One of my side hustles each week is serving as a tour guide through the local Wild Animal Safari. Among the many different beasts in our park are several bison, and I go to the trouble to explain why they’re called “buffalo” when they aren’t buffalo.
During the course of the explanation, I mention Native Americans, and at the end refer to them as Indians. One day, a rather good-looking gal got off my tour bus and said, “Sir, you’re not supposed to call those people ‘Indians’ any more.”
I replied, “Ma’am, I am one-quarter Apache. I am considered a Native American by the government. I’m one of them. I can call them anything I want.”
Cochise approves this comment.
“Native Americans” is a 3-time misnomer;
I have nothing but respect for the Warriors of the Great Peoples here before the Europeans arrival and the stoic responses to an alien governmental system.
Basically, whatever Joesy Wales done said.
Which, actually, is worse off than “Indian.” See, that’s a one-and-done – Christopher Columbus thought he was on islands near India, so he referred to the people who were living there as Indians. The name stuck and I, for one, am glad that it did.
Warren remembers… or does she?
The prevailing theory is that they crossed the glacial ice bridge from Asia during the last Ice Age.
When and how hominids, as well as early modern humans, arrived in this hemisphere is a big question. Also, seems horses – of a sort – where here a long time before Columbus as well.
