Another Trump assassination attempt?

Here we go again. Reports out of West Palm Beach are that shots were fired “in the vicinity” of Trump, who was golfing at his resort there. According to The Independent, not a very Trump-friendly outlet mind you, the target was Trump. That’s if you can believe the media, and who in this day and age actually can believe them on breaking news. Sounds like USSS engaged the threat and ended it. I’m sure we’ll hear more.
What we won’t hear is any actual toning down of the election rhetoric against Trump. After the first whackadoo tried to kill him, the lefties here waited about seven seconds before they went right back to the mantra of how “Trump is a threat to democracy”, “Trump will be a dictator”, “Trump will kill all brown people and enslave the gays”, blah, blah, blah.

Shots were fired in the vicinity of former President Donald Trump’s golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida on Sunday while the ex-president was at the facility, according to a Trump campaign spokesman.
Steven Cheung told reporters that “President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity” and said that no further details were available “at this time”.
Trump was golfing Sunday at the course but it wasn’t immediately clear whether he had been on the links when the shots were fired. The Independent has reached out to a spokesperson for comment. A report from the New York Post indicated that while Trump was in the area, the shooting appeared to have occurred outside the club and involved a man who appeared to have a firearm and a Secret Service agent, who opened fire when he saw the alleged weapon.
However, a report from CNN, citing “ources briefed on the matter,” stated that local law enforcement officials and Secret Service agents “believe that the shots fired at Trump International Golf Club were intended for former President Donald Trump”.
The CNN report also cited local law enforcement officials who stated that an AK-47-style rifle was found at the scene, and a car has been stopped “nearby” in relation to the incident.
“The Secret Service, in conjunction with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, is investigating a protective incident involving former President Donald Trump that occurred shortly before 2 p.m. The former president is safe,” said a spokesman for the US Secret Service.
A statement from the White House also indicated that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris had been briefed on the situation.
Case in point for the violent rhetoric out there is that this fresh story has only 10 comments at the time of my writing. They consist of abhorrent, visceral hatred as;

Trump is being protected by a much higher power, someone the people who cheer his assassination attempts do not know.
Not nitpick, but the rifle the assassin intended to use that is depicted in the photos released to the media is not an AK-47. It is an SKS with a polymer stock and a 30-round magazine. This rifle can still be had for only about $500 if it is one of the Chinese ones. They are generally not very accurate out beyond 100 yards, even with a scope. The odds this clown could have delivered an accurate shot out at 400 to 500 yards are doubtful. But with 30 rounds he could have got lucky.
For a while, I thought it was a Saiga hunting model without the pistol grip and with a traditional style buttstock, but the gas tube gives it away as an SKS.
