Red Dot views

First up – ever wanted something like magic glasses that told you where your pistol or rifle was aimed? Not with a red-dot sight, not with a here-I-am laser, but just showed you where you were aiming regardless of cheek weld, sights, anything? Just a dot on your glasses that you could put on the target and put a round into it.

In an interview with Military.com at eMerge Americas, (Future Optek CEO – ed.) Pohl described the company’s core concept as glasses that display a reticle, or red dot, inside transparent lenses while accounting for the position of the user’s head and weapon. The goal is to let a user see where the weapon is pointed without forcing the shooter to align their eye behind a sight, look through a video feed, or use a laser that could reveal their position.

Pohl was careful to distinguish Future Optek’s system from camera-based goggles or bulky battlefield headsets. He said the company’s approach uses transparent lenses rather than replacing the user’s vision with a video feed. Pohl said this matters because soldiers need natural vision, situational awareness, and a device light enough to wear in real conditions.Military.com

Just put on the glasses, pick up the gun, and watch the projection inside the glasses. Oh, and squeeze the trigger. Don’t jerk or flinch. This sounds like a shooter’s dream, doesn’t it? Too, think of how this could work as a remote aiming system, say for a drone shooter?

According to the article the Army is having problems with ‘standard’ virtual reality glasses – disorientation, headaches, short tolerance periods before symptoms kick in. These are just… glasses.

Anybody here know Monica Witt?

Seems Ms. Witt was a spy for Iran while serving as a sergeant in Air Force counterintelligence. Thursday, the FBI raised its bounty to $200,000. No, they did not say “dead or alive.”

In an announcement Thursday, the FBI said it is still trying to locate Monica Witt, who it believes defected to Iran in 2013. The agency said it believes she “likely continues to support (Iran’s) nefarious activities.”

Witt was a former counterintelligence officer for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. From 2003 and 2008, Witt’s work involved counterintelligence assignments that took her to the Middle East.

In 2019, then-Assistant Attorney General John Demers alleged that Witt was targeted and recruited by Iran, and after she defected, she allegedly revealed to Iran the existence of a “highly classified intelligence collection program” and the identity of a US intelligence officer, “thereby risking the life of this individual.”  CNN

So if you do know her whereabouts and they can catch her, you will have 200,000 new Washingtons to keep you warm at night. Judging by the updated pic of her below from BBC, that would probably be the smartest move. Time has not been kind.

“These are just… glasses.”

My first thought is that they are going to get lost in the field or taken to pawn shops within the first three days.
