Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor’s bodyguards shoot would-be carjacker outside her home

Two deputy US Marshals shot a would-be carjacker who pulled a gun on him while they were guarding Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor’s home in Washington, DC, authorities said.The marshals were parked outside Sotomayor’s home in northwest DC on July 5 when Kentrell Flowers, 18, allegedly walked up to one of their cars around 1:15 a.m. and pointed a gun one of the federal agents, the US Marshals Service told The Post.
One of the federal agents drew his weapon and fired several shots at the suspect, with the second officer also firing his weapon at Flowers.
Flowers, of Southeast DC, was arrested and treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Man injured after shootout during attempted carjacking in Hickory Hill, MPD says
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A man was injured after a shootout during an attempted carjacking at a Hickory Hill gas station late Sunday night, police said.
The man’s injuries were not considered life-threatening.
Memphis Police said it all started after the man went inside the BP gas station near East Shelby Drive and Hickory Hill Road to get some food. As he walked back to his Dodge Charger, an armed suspect pointed a gun at him and said, “Give me your keys and car,” police said.
That was when the car owner pulled out his own firearm from his hip and fired up to six shots at the suspect, police said. The man told investigators that he believes he shot the suspect in the face and that the suspect fired as many as 25 shots at him.
The owner of the Charger then got back in his car and left, police said.
MPD said the car owner later flagged down an officer after getting into a crash. He was found with a gunshot wound to his behind and was taken to a hospital with non-critical injuries, police said.

Yea, that caught my attention as well, Tox. Only about twice the weight of a fully loaded M1 Garand. Right. I own both, so the weight of the PMR is actually more like 2lbs loaded, if that. It is fun to shoot with a really neat sounding report when fired. Getting more than 20 rounds in the mag requires the thumbs of Odin. Also very picky on ammo (mine is one of the earlier models), mine only likes round nose, no hollow points. Could be the magazines, I suppose. But regardless, any more than twenty rounds it jams frequently. What fun is having 30 round mags if you can only load it with 20?

That story of the Secret Service going Full Jan Brady” was from back in April, and the Secret Service Agent is of the female type. Don’t know if that is the factory setting or after market modification.
News flash for anyone looking to redistribute ownership of SUV’s in the Washington DC area, if you come across a black SUV at 02:00 in an upscale part of the National Capital Region, those white guys sitting in the vehicle with sunglasses and earpieces are probably US Marshals or Secret Service agents on a security detail.

That “review” is hard to digest. I’ve started one or two pieces with thoughts of submitting them to Task and Purpose, but I think The Gun Zone falls into the same pit that T&P often does. Anyone can submit an article, and if it’s something not already covered and looks adequately well-written, it will be rushed to publication. As evidenced by my wordy comments here, I at least try to make some sense and use proper English. The couple of opinion pieces I had published on a tool review site years ago took a few weeks between first draft and what I submitted. I have a feeling that some of the “write for us” types hack away for a few hours, look over it once, and think, “good enough”.
Blogs are some of the worst, often just containing verbose clickbait with overly expensive, outdated or unrelated tools with paid links…

So a “belligerent” Sec Service agent was taken to the hospital after the incident for a medical incident. Could that be something like cocaine withdrawal? Is that the medical reason? I’m wondering if he might not have been involved with hunter…
We’ll never know for sure, but I’m thinking the boy was kept awake on duty for far too long.
Something on the order of the equivalent 2-3 Staff Duties back-to-back. Try staying awake 48-60+ hours and see how coherent you are.

I’m very disappointed in our federal Marshall. Somebody either needs a hell of a lot of range time or a sidearm with a caliber that begins with the holy number four. Multiple shots fired, non-life threatening wounds. Should be a 4-block on his next eval.
Maybe they have other priorities?
