Iran warns US off Houthi linked ship
Iran has warned the US not to target one of their ships passing targeting info to the Houthis.
The clip describes Behshad as a “floating armoury” involved in missions to “counteract piracy in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden”.
Iran is not known to have taken part in any recent anti-piracy campaigns in the region.
One suspects that if you ask the Iranians, they feel the US is the biggest pirate in the area and theyare too chicken-shit practicing restraint in not sending all of our ships to the bottom.
(Please, no giggling during the performance.)
On Sunday, a video shared on the Iranian army’s Telegram channel put out a stark warning against “those engaging in terrorist activities against the MV Behshad or similar vessels, jeopardise international maritime routes, security, and assume global responsibility for potential future international risks”.
Meanwhile, analyst Michael Knights of pro-Israel think tank the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, said: “The ships pretend to be anti-piracy garrison ships that Iranian and Syrian shipping can visit, but actually they are transshipment points for Iranian weapons.
“The Behshad and its sister vessel Safiz are also loaded with Iranian electronic intelligence equipment used to locate target vessels for the Houthis to strike,” he added.
According to shipping tracking data, the vessel had remained in the same area south of the Red Sea between Yemen and Eritrea since January 2023. Maybe they’re lost?
Now, we know they will be really pissed if we just sink their little boat. But there are so many alternative actions…aren’t we working on EMP guns? This would be a lovely test bed. For that matter, just jamming the shit out of their ship-to-shore comms should be in order, wouldn’t you think? For that matter, fishing nets in the props would be attention-getting, especially if it happened multiple times. What do you think?
In the spirit of international maritime cooperation, maybe the US Navy should do a crossover of Commanders. I hear that Captain Danielle DeFant is looking for a new command.
Do they still hang captains from yardarms during a mutiny?
Blow the fucking thing out of the water. EOM.
Our current chicken-shit administration will NOT authorize that, though
Placate, placate, swat. Placate, placate, swat.
If they had brought the sledgehammer to bear early and often, there would not be a problem or dead American service members.
Sink it — and pick up no survivors.
Those fucks pass along a lot of info on which ships are transiting the area and when, and smaller spotters disguised as fishing vessels and coastal “traders” ignore the rules of the road to come in dangerously close to merchant vessels to grab their names and ports of registry since their AIS is turned off.
I know this because I am on the Maersk Detroit. Fuck them, kill them all.
It would make the beginnings of a nice reef, wouldn’t it? And the crew could become fish food. Win win!
Yeah! I want one of those directional EMP pistols to disable all the Boom-Boom cars that deafen me five cars away.
A near and present danger!!
Maersk Detroit’s position 5 days ago.
Taking the long way around — we were targeted by Houthis on January 24th along with the Maersk Chesapeake.
USS Gravely took care of business and for that I’m grateful.
“aren’t we working on EMP guns?”
Instant boner for this old Signal guy.
There is only one thing these shithole nations respect, force.
Words mean nothing to these people without the threat and application from time to time of overwhelming force.
We need to adapt the Roman saying of “Oderint Dum Metuant” to our modern world.
A good start would be blowing every fucking Houthi ship out of the water and sinking all capital ships of the Iranian Navy….
Exactly. It isn’t like we haven’t done it before either. Iran pretty much has a two track mind. Death to America, death to Israel.
Sink it.
Unfortunately, will NOT happen.
“For that matter, fishing nets in the props would be attention-getting, especially if it happened multiple times. What do you think?”…
We could just tell the Greenpeace morons that they’re whaling ships.. those clowns aren’t all that bright, and they love to foul props and commit other terroist type attacks.. could be entertaining..
I like that idea 👍
If only someone could place a controlled detonation near the ship which produced a EMP that was contained near the ship full of electronics. Sure would be sad if all their spy stuff got zapped!!!
Even better would be the “hand of god” stroking a few lightning bolts to the masts of those two ships…you know just to ensure they are grounded properly.
Instead of EMP, let’s use a BFE. Big Fucking Explosion.
Well, this is ironic.
NATO is doing the EXACT SAME THING in the Ukraine.
Funny how it ain’t so funny when it happens to you.
Proxy War Karma.
The difference is, if the Russians sink one of our ships, we actually have the means to retaliate.
Of course, we don’t have the will, but the means, yes.
The Iranians are the exact opposite: they have the will but not the means. Yet. Eventually we’ll dither long enough that they’ll have the means and then we may as well pack up all our assets in the Middle East and bring them home because Iran will be the rulers there.
It would truly be a shame if that Iranian ship hit what we can only assume was an old left-over mine from a time Iranian turds blocked the straits with their own mines. You know, one of those big ones that splits the keel and the ship goes down almost immediately, leaving everyone to speculate about what must’ve happened to it? Surely there’s at least one of those that could be maneuvered into position.
The AI photo above leaves me wondering what happened to
leave the ship upright and intact, surounded by large objects it
managed to avoid.
The obvious conclusion would be because it was put there.
The maritime equivalent of the post turtle?🤣
How about we pretend to be Iranians, call the Houthi’s up, and send them targeting info on the Iranian ships in the area, saying they’re infidel cargo ships? Sit back and watch the fireworks.
Drop a dead rock dove on that boat.
You know, an Omen Pigeon.
…
Match generated bearings and shoot.
Where is Capt Nemo and his nuke powered sub along with guitar playing Ned Land singing “I’ve got a Whale of a tale to tell you lads, a whale of a tale that’s true”
I just watched that too… one of my all-time favorite nautical movies.
Just… tell ole’ Nemo to lay off the organ, will ya?
Well the US Navy has demonstrated some remarkably poor ship handling in the past few years.
Maybe they could accidently on purpose ram it.
