Mexico is calling for an investigation into how US military grade weapons ended up in cartel hands
These are not weapons that are mistaken as military grade by anti-gun proponents in the U.S. These are actual weapons that the U.S. military has used in the past. The Mexican army has previously seized fully automatic machine guns, grenade launchers, as well as rocket launchers. Although the Mexican military still has more firepower than the cartels, the latter have gained a firepower advantage over some Mexican law enforcement outfits.
From The Associated Press:
The military-grade U.S. weaponry — which cartels have bragged about and openly displayed on social media — poses a special challenge for Mexico’s army, which along with police and the National Guard already faces cartels operating homemade armored vehicles and bomb-dropping drones.
In June, Defense Secretary Luis Cresencio Sandoval said five rocket launchers had been found in the possession of the Jalisco New Generation cartel, four were seized from the rival Sinaloa cartel and three more seized from other cartels. Sandoval did not specifically say the weapons were from U.S. military stockpiles.
Ken Salazar, the U.S. ambassador to Mexico, confirmed Monday that Mexican officials had brought up the issue at meetings last week, and while he had not been aware of the problem, he pledged the United States would look into it.
“We are going to look into it, we are committed to working with Sedena (Mexico’s Defense Department) to see what’s going on,” Salazar said.
There are a number of possible routes by which the weapons may have made their way to Mexico. Central America was awash with U.S. weaponry during the conflicts of the 1980s, military grade weapons sometimes go missing from stocks in the United States, and some manufacturers who sell arms to the U.S. military might also have sold some abroad or on the black market.

“Paging Eric Holder, Mr. Holder to the white courtesy phone”.
That escalated fast and furiously !
Dat’s a good one.
Little Eric needs to festooned in an orange jumpsuit, taken to the river, and receive an islamic epiphany.
Maybe scaphism in the Rio Grande would be more appropriate for him?
Can’t forget that. oddly the GOP never followed up with there promised
Investigation after trump was elected in 2016
One of the big reasons why I’m a independent
So sick of the BS with no follow through
Arizona remembers.
Lying to and contempt of Congress apparently wasnt illegal back then.
Still waiting for charges to be brought against Fauci…
Afghanistan and the Ukraine has mountains of US military weapons “for sale.”
Fast and Furious…pefo Joe style.
Pendejo Joe
my guess is rightwingers they sure do love that kind of “stuff”
Mexico estimates 500000 weapons per year going south
I think Fast and Furious was responsible for 1500
500,000? This is how the US gets the reputation for sharp dealing.
Psh* That is only 1 gun for every 80,000 doses of fentanyl, 1638 grams of cocaine, 18,000 grams of meth and 5.5 illegal aliens or 2 people trafficked from Mexico last year. All that for only 500K guns? Dirt cheap.
I bet Kamala Harris negotiated that deal herself since she is the border czar.
So… you’re trying to say that some vast, right wing conspiracy is shipping weapons to Mexico?
I’m not saying the left blames everything on the right however, if someone farts in church the left would blame the right. Oh, what was I thinking a leftist in church?
😆😂🤣🤪🤪
The Left would be in church in order to smear menstrual blood on the Virgin Mary statue.
Nah, Satan loves Fetus blood.
I’m not sitting next to them of they are. They might open their mouth and then the bolts from Heaven will start.
Retard
Did you change your name commisar?
And you would be wrong on that too. Nor do we “rightwingers” approve of illegal gunrunning to other sovereign states such as Homey da Klown and his co conspirator Eric Holder did.
F&F was also responsible for the death of CBP Agent Brian Terry.
“military grade”
Just exactly WTF is a “military grade” weapon.
Is there some ATF definition or is it a media term?
Is it a legal term?
Is a P-38 a “military grade” weapon if you slice someone
with it?
Probably mistranslated from milspec? The media would never lie or make shit up.
I have a bad ass deadly military grade garrote.
A bootlace
Aren’t new ford pickups made from military grade aluminum? Does that make them invisible to radar? Asking for a lead foot friend.
Years ago, I had to fill out a lost gear statement when I couldn’t find a military grade tent peg.
Same thing happened to Hack Stone. He drew his 782 gear from CSSDS-12 in 29 Stumps, then was sent down the mountain to Camp Pendleton attached to BSSG-7. Late October 1990, Hack got orders sending from Saudi Arabia back to 29 Palms for 2861 school. Hack turned in all of his 782 gear to the Marine Supply Point at the port, with the exception of helmet and flak jacket. The Supply Guy in Saudi did not have Hack’s original hand receipt, and they did not have the preprinted ones there, just blank lined cards, so he hand wrote everything Hack turned in. Except… he left off the Guide Line and five Tent Stakes.
Hack makes it back to 29 Palms, the start date for school was pushed to the right because most of the intended students were still in Saudi. MCCES told Hack to go back to CSSD-12 and formally check out. Hack gets to Supply, and the PFC crosschecks my Saudi turn in against Hack’s CSSD-12 issue receipt. No tent stakes or guide line. Dickwad wanted Hack Stone to pay for them. Then it got ugly.
Something like this?
Makes me curious. Do they still issue shelter halves
Military grade? Like made by the lowest bidder?
Lighthouse of the Blind? They make some wicked crap, lemme tell ya…
Never understood how they make clocks.
Their pens are killer.

“Mr. Skilcraft”
Don’t worry, this dilemma will sort itself. The Cartel Grunts will grow disillusioned from the constant rejection from the Drug Lord’s Armorer because the weapons are dirty.
Weapons card? We ain’t got no weapons card. We don’t need no weapons card. I don’t have to show you any stinking weapons cards.
I’ll take stolen or bought from disgrunted troops in the Mexican military for $1000, Alex! (Cartel could buy overseas– you know, from Afghanistan– too.)
Shop locally, support your neighborhood arms dealer.
If someone trustworthy (brave, honest, loyal…..) is needed to take custody of these military grade weapons, I volunteer.
The only weapons thru-out the world that the guvdotfed wants to control are the one’s in the hands of Patriotic American Citizens that only want to be able to defend themselves against all enemies…foreign and domestic. They are not really concerned about who or where other weapons come from.
First off, F@#K Mexico, they deserve whatever they get for assisting with the invasion across our southern border.
Second, it’s highly likely that any US military weapons the cartels have acquired are from AFG, courtesy of pedo Joe and his shitshow of an evac of that country. It’s no secret that the Afghanies are selling lots of the stuff joe abandoned there to the highest bidder to finance their activities..
Third, John above in the posts is either a leftist troll, bought and paid for by Soros and company, or an absolute moron..
Where is the website? Inquiring minds want to know. Just for informational purposes only, sorta kinda.
Obligatory… classic meme:
“Central America was awash with U.S. weaponry during the conflicts of the 1980s“.
Ollie North was unavailable for comment.
It also was well before Col. North got tasked to do his stuff. Almost every country in Central America was on the MDAP plan to get us weapons and munitions as far back as WW2.
Mexico teeters on the edge of becoming a narco state and our president sees no issue with the border remaining unprotected and unsecured. We dropped drone strike loads onto family events in the Middle East over less than what is going on with the Mexican cartels invading the US. It might be time to consider a massive drone strike that targets a great many higher ups in the drug trade…hiding in plain sight only works when the locals are impotent to do anything about it…it’s time for a reset on a great many things in this world.
One potential avenue of the cartel’s obtaining American weaponry they failed to mention:
From the Mexican military, which buys much of its weaponry from the US. In fact, I’d say that’s the most likely avenue.
How many weapons were sold to various countries in the middle east, some of which (cough iraq afghanistan) have a certain surplus due to a certain dementia in chief with a woke sec def and dod who simply left them there because a date on a calendar was more important than securing the folks we left behind?
Of course we shouldn’t even consider the ones that were left in the care of the now defunct ARVN…
Nah the cartels, poor critters as they are, couldn’t possibly afford to buy shiploads of abandoned US weapons from folks intent on causing damage t the US. Then there are the mexican police stations overrun by the cartels and one or two trinkets might have been acquired after the folks who were responsible for them left them laying around.
O’Bummer.
Well, I’d have to say that since the Mexican government is one of the most corrupt governments that ever existed (outside of the Biden administration and New Orleans), that them there weapons probably came from the Mexican Army.
The Mexican Army has had its AWOLs and deserters selling their weapons to the cartels for over forty years.
