MLK home arson suspect is “decorated US Navy veteran”
So someone allegedly tried to torch the childhood home of The Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr. I don’t know why a person would be inclined to do such a thing, but thankfully some tourists stopped her. Then some off-duty NYPD cops held her until the Atlanta PoPos showed up. I guess Fox News got a copy of the suspect’s DD-214, because she’s a “decorated” veteran. Let’s see what our modern day Audie Murphy earned in her valiant, extensive service to our nation.
From Fox News;
The woman accused of attempted arson at the birth home of Martin Luther King Jr. is a decorated military veteran, according to officials.
Laneisha Shantrice Henderson, 26, is a veteran surface warfare specialist of the U.S. Navy and received multiple awards during her service.
Henderson received a national defense service medal and good conduct medal during her service. She was also given the Navy “E” ribbon among other awards.
Henderson has been charged with attempted arson and interfering with government property after she was seen on camera pouring the flammable liquid out of a large red fuel container and onto the porch of the historic wooden property at around 5:45 p.m. Thursday.
The footage also shows the woman — who was dressed in all-black clothing — dousing plants and emptying the liquid against the windows of the Auburn Avenue house, which is located just blocks from the King Center, King National Historical Park and the historic Ebenezer Baptist Church.
She was stopped in her tracks by two tourists and then apprehended by two off-duty NYPD cops until Atlanta police arrived on the scene and arrested her.
Zachary Eugene Kempf, from Utah, who shot the shocking video and is one of the two tourists who stopped Henderson, said he was in Atlanta for work reasons when he decided to visit the house. He began recording this footage as he noticed the woman pouring gasoline around the house.
The video also shows one of the NYPD cops holding Henderson down on the ground with her hands behind her back. She is then escorted away by Atlanta police looking glum and not saying anything.
“If the witnesses hadn’t been here and interrupted what she was doing, I mean, it could have been a matter of seconds before the house was engulfed in flames,” said Atlanta Fire Battalion Chief Jerry DeBerry.
He continued, “It was really about the timing and the witness being in the right place at the right time. We’re going to be able to mitigate this with no damage to the property at all.”
The home is currently under renovation and closed to visitors until 2025.
King’s birth home, a framed two-story Queen Anne-style structure, was built in 1895 and played a vital role in commemorating the early life of the civil rights leader and his siblings.
Whoa! Holy shit does this woman’s military bona fides have me in awe. She got the NDSM, a good cookie, and the “E” ribbon? Fuck. She’s seen some shit. I expect the PTSD excuse to come up from all that action she saw.
As usual, the noble eagle of the NDSM weeps as the Brotherhood of the NDSM once more faces tarnish to their stellar reputation.

Ok…🙄
IC3(SW) – Interior Communications Electrician 3rd Class Surface Warfare qualified. Allow me to translate: she was phone/comms tech that had at least a minimum working knowledge of all onboard systems. She’s not some Captain Marvel superhero just some cog in a much larger machine. PTSD from too much standing in line for chow more like it.

Her PTSD was caused by her taking a selfie while in uniform…😉😎
I saw this yesterday: (8) Black Woman Arrested Attempting to Set Fire to MLK Jr.’s Birth Home – YouTube
I think this was an attempt to fabricate a “hate crime”, stir up the masses, and have a Winter of Love.
That’s really all it takes nowadays. Paint some racist graffiti on something, confuse garage door pull downs with nooses, stage a late-night assault, or vandalize/destroy historical buildings. Evil White Men must have done it. Cue the “Rees!” and get the antagonists out there. If you build it, they will come.
This woman seems to be of the same ilk as those young White women who were painting BLM stuff on a building a few years ago. Some Black women were recording them, telling them they needed to stop because they (Blacks) would be blamed for the vandalism. It’s a weird situation…Blacks trying to burn down historic structures to blame Whites, and Whites destroying stuff in the name of Blacks.
Divide and conquer. Inflame both sides and pit them against each other. Angry Black people incensed at the destruction of their martyr’s childhood home. Angry White people incensed at the destruction of their businesses. Vote Biden ’24, folks! He’s the most inclusive and uniting President in history.
Exactly what I thought. I am “Impresses” by her ribbon stack.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. With a highly decorated special surface operations warrior involved It has to be part of a larger white supremacy plot.
The good news is at least we found one of the 85 extremists that were in the military as pointed out by the article the other day. Only 84 more to go.
Ok….
🙄
Shipmate in the background.
Get your hands out of your pockets.
Good catch. No pocket pool allowed.
Navy? I thought those were, “Air Force gloves”.
The race card will be tossed out to be sure. Especially if the witness or off duty NYPD cops are not of black decent.
I’m sure if, a big if, she sees jail time, her fellow inmates will be none too pleased she tried to burn down MLK Jr’s childhood home.
None of that is going to happen.
She is going to walk with no consequences.
Had she been a white male, prison would have lasted 20 years and 11 months.
If you haven’t realized what’s going on in this country by now, and the different tiers of the law, then I have some prime property to sell you in the middle of the South Pacific near the oceanic pole of inaccessibility, also known as Point Nemo, which is located at roughly 48°52.6′S 123°23.6′W.
That’s why I said “if, a big if”.
At least one of them was not white, the one restraining her. The other one is only in frame for a second but appears to be white. Family showed up later, they were tracking her cell phone because she was missing. Said she was in some kind of mental distress.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12844849/Pictured-woman-MLK-burn-home.html
Oh, mental distress. That old excuse for burning down black peoples houses. I am sure whitey is responsible. And the systemic racism she lived her whole life under. Like when she was denied the opportunity to enlist in the Navy.
Mental distress? She’s a nucking futz of a pyromaniac.
Throw away the key.
They hand out ESWS like candy nowadays. Especially compared to how hard and difficult it was to get it 20 years ago. It used to take a year to get the book filled out, then written test, followed by First Class murder board, then Chief’s Board, and for some smaller commands, walkthrough with the CO.
Now it’s nothing more than another box to check off for new check ins coming onboard. All completed within 6 months to a year so it can make the command look good for qualification purposes.
You mean it’s like the CIB and CAB streamer for US Army company guidons or the Mandatorious Unit Commendation (MUC)? I didn’t know the streamers were a thing, until I went forward from Kyrgyzstan to Afghanistan with the Main Body and found all of the award recommendations within a month. One month in for most of us, two months for Torch personnel, and 4th BDE, 3ID already had the MUC written up, with our subordinate units already racking up the CIBs and CABs for the streamers. Our HHC commander had his Bronze Star citation written up and the company Armorer got his CIB within a few weeks (illegitimately for a rocket attack, of course), along with about four AAMs (deploying the Arms Room, setting up the Crossfit gym, doing his job adequately, and redeploying the Arms Room) and the end-of-tour ARCOM.
The Navy, like the Army, have their unit wide credentials that they work on. The ESWS/EAWS is similar in concept to the Expert Infantry Badge and the Expert Soldier Badge, a commander that boasts most of his/her Sailors having ESWS/EAWS is like a commander in the Army being able to boast about most of his/her Soldiers having EIB/ESB. Just as the Command Sergeant Major would advertise for Soldiers to become qualified in the EIB/ESB, his Navy counterpart would advertise for Sailors to become qualified for ESWS/EAWS.
I understand that. That’s why most units I served in pretty much forced Soldiers to go for the EIB (well, come to think of it, I only served in two FORSCOM Infantry battalions and TOG, where it was pressed).
I think that every Soldier, Sailor, or otherwise should strive to earn a badge that demonstrates proficiency, but QMC’s comment made me think of the literal Old Man during my BDE staff time. He was 55, had hit sanctuary in the ARNG and got the chance to come active. Previously, he’d joined the Navy a year before I was born, served for 14 years, becoming an E-7 Selectee before getting out right after his service in Desert Storm, then joined the Guard nearly 17 years later. He wore his ESWS with every bit as much pride as he did his CIB, and spoke of how much work he put into earning it.
I qualed for the Air Warfare Specialist wings of pewter as it was expected.
Never actually wore the stupid things.
I wore both the ESWS and EAWS on my uniform after I got commissioned. Coupled with my ribbons and my tattoo, I was sometimes mistaken for an LDO. After I earned the SWSCO, I wore that in place of the ESWS.
I remember when EAWS counted for points on promotion tests and NAC wings didn’t. Some Yo-yo behind a desk who barely knew what a plane is got extra points and this Squid racking up tons of hours didn’t. Really pissed a lot of us off. Big Nav finally got its head out of its ass and fixed that. And i never qualed EAWS and wasn’t expected to. Maybe cause i was “black shoe” aircrew.
They were a “Designation” and took precedence over a “Qualification” meaning they were worn above Aircrew gold wings. This was an insult.
Exactly. A big insult.
I got my ESWS in 1992, it was a self-initiative practice, nobody leading anybody by the hands back in those days. I did well on the test and then aced the board. When the Command Master Chief congratulated me, he told me that I had given him the ammunition to pressure more senior petty officers to get theirs. I got the EAWS the following year. A few years latter, they made it mandatory for everyone to get the applicable badge. In conjunction with this requirement came the classes that covered the signature portion and the test portion of the program.
Funny, I heard the same things about the ESWS – that they were given out in Crackerjack Boxes and the like, that you had to actively try to NOT get one if you were assigned to a skimmer – 20 years ago when I was still active duty. Either way, still never had the reputation or pride of achievement like the coveted Dolphins. Since 1924!
Shit….with my meager fruit salad I must count as HIGHLY decorated 🙄
Jay,
This is what it sounds like
when someone calls himself a “decorated war hero”,
and uses a FAKE VOICE of someone else (Joe Rogan)
to heap the praise on himself.
His highest medals are
1 Purple Heart
1 Army Commendation Medal (but he claims, wears, and displays 3).
See rumble channel below for not only this, but ALSO a similar video using a FAKE VOICE of Donald Trump.

Do you think “The View”, Joy Reid, Al Sharpton or “The Squad” will provide any input to the news media about her crime?
Asking For A Friend…
🤔
The STUPID is strong with this one.
Navy vet with at least some skills(I’m trying to be nice) and possibly a decent life all thrown away with hate.
I’m sure her family and friends (if any) are proud.
“received a national defense service medal and good conduct medal”
“given the Navy “E” ribbon”
Given and recieved but I don’t see the word “earned” anywhere.
If I knew they were just giving out NDSM’s I would of asked for two.
26Limabeans,
I either “earned” or “received” 1 NDSM.
lolol
Retroactively “given” a 2nd.
I only wear and display the 1.
I could wear 2. I could stick on the little bronze star device.
But anyone asking isn’t interested in the long and boring retro story.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Defense_Service_Medal
And don’t get me started on Elko Nevada’s Les Brown
and his “Bronze Star” claims, perpetuated after his timely passing.
Brown’s phony Southwest Asia Campaign Medal
has at least the 1 mandatory star.

Serious Q –
Are there historical or unofficial lines drawn,
that constitute proper and fitting use of “decorated” and “highly decorated”?
Example Q –
Does the MSM achieve the level of “decorated”?
Does the Bronze Star achieve the level of “highly decorated”?
I think that, so long as you’re not using it for personal profit or gain, you can consider the following:
A single BSM/MSM (equal decorations when it comes to Merit, though the “V” on the former makes a big difference) equate to being decorated. Generally speaking, in today’s Army, those two are the ones you’ll see the most as the highest on retirees.
Any “V” device or separate valor/gallantry award equates to being decorated for heroism. The Soldiers Medal and equivalents apply here.
Any medal awarded for combat service can technically be considered a combat decoration, including the AAM awarded to a PFC who spent two months in Iraq.
I’d reserve the term “highly decorated” for those who’ve earned multiple varied decorations. It’s subject to rank and length of service also. A SPC who served four years and earned three ARCOMS and five AAMs is highly decorated. A COL who earned a single DMSM and a handful of lesser awards over 30 years is decorated, as is a GEN who received the DDSM and LOM over 40 years.
They came up with those ghey ass “C” devices.
Forgot about those. When you only have so many ribbons to put on your uniform, appurtenances make them look all the better, especially for those official photos that used to be used for selection boards.
We’ve got “V’s” “C’s”, “R’s”, OLCs, Campaign Stars, Knots, and Numerals in the Army now. Quite the mess of metal.
Pansy devices all. The NDSM Brotherhood rocks!
Oh no, you used the G-word…..
To the gulag with you!!!
In my opinion, a Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts and a Silver Star meets the criteria for ” highly decorated.” Way back in 1993, I knew an E5 who had an ARCOM with “V” device from. Desert Storm. He willingly exposed his self to fire to protect his troops. That meets my criteria for “decorated.”
ANCRN,
I used the photo of “Mr. Bob” Walker,
the retired elementary school janitor, for a reason.
He did NOT earn all the medals you see him showing off in his home made shadowbox above.
But that’s what he showed school children for about 25 years.
That said, he did prove to actually be “highly decorated”.
A true Rambo for a day,
who turned himself into Phony Triple Rambo.
And, when I confronted him in person,
alongside the magazine owner/editor,
Walker tried the
“my records were lost in the Missouri fire” excuse,
not realizing that WW2 era phonying excuse did not apply to him.
2 VG articles on Mr. Bob, 3 years ago.
https://valorguardians.com/blog/?p=108109
MarineDad61, thanks for the clarification on Mr Walker. I still think any combat award, PH, BSV, ARCOM w/ V, or a noncombat medal for valor like a Soldiers Medal, meets the decorated criteria. Any awards higher, DFC, SS, DSC, means highly decorated. I don’t think nonvalor awards count in my assessment.
I don’t know. To me, highly decorated always meant the MoH. Anything less than that would be just decorated.
I can’t see a guy claiming to be highly decorated with anything less.
Imagine a guy with multiple lesser awards claiming to be highly decorated and then a MoH recipient walks in.
Hmm…The awarding of the CMOH puts a man in a unique category. Yeah, I agree that other awards lose some of their glow in the presence of the CMOH.
Racist bitch.
Welp, she seems nice! Doncha just love them eyes? Where is IDC SARC when we need him? Was her name “‘Cump” in a former life? He had a bit of pyromania in him, too towards Atlanta. And yeah, he was a racist before it became popular, along with one of his Corps Commanders…the other Jefferson (C) Davis (can you say “Ebenezer Creek?) “Upon his orders, Union soldiers hastily removed pontoon bridges they had just used to cross Ebenezer Creek. The stranded slaves were left on their own, effectively betrayed by Davis.”
Sent this the other day into our Beloved AW1Ed as a FGS. Wasn’t sure if it would make it there or to the SPoTW post. Wasn’t thinking that she would make a stand alone thread, but after the dumpster fire that (BEAT) Navy made yesterday, maybe another fire was in order.
As pointed out by others, Imma thinking this was a plan to blame the fire on all of the whyte RAAAYYCISS that are so prevalent in society today. She forgot the hood, cross, and reconstruction era Saint Andrews Cross to complete her ensemble. Only thing fitting the accepted narrative is the crazy veteran part.
MLK Jr., weeps.
“effectively betrayed by Davis.”
Not from what I have read. Gen. Davis was busy fighting a war. He did not have the time or resources to care for or protect civilians. Gen. Davis and the rest of Sherman’s army was behind enemy lines, cut off from Union supply & reinforcements and pursued by Confederate forces. Evidently you think that Davis should have abandoned the march to the sea (and resupply) and taken up a defensive position behind enemy lines to where they could have starved together with the escaped slaves until Confederate forces caught up with them. To quote Sherman, “War is cruelty. There’s no use trying to reform it. The crueler it is, the sooner it will be over.” And I will add that it is hell for both sides.
Talk about ingratitude…
When applying terms to the surrender of the South, Sherman expanded on the generous terms Grant gave Lee, effectively sparing Southerners the usual horrific consequences of failed revolutionaries. The terms were unprecedented in their generosity, and based on simple parole and an oath of loyalty.
Slandering him is ingratitude of the first order.
With all due respect the only thing I can fully agree with is “War is cruelty. There’s no use trying to reform it. The crueler it is, the sooner it will be over.” And I will add that it is hell for both sides.” Davis’ XIV Corps had by itself more troops than all of the Confederates in the whole state by that time. Wheeler’s Cavalry were nothing more than a mere horse fly buzzing around the flanks. Hardee had less than 10K troops in Savannah, Ft McAllister’s 260 men were swept away by Hazen’s Division in less than 20 minutes. Only 1 notable infantry fight was made and that was @ Griswoldville in Nov. Sherman had plenty of provisions with a wagon train of food stuffs 20 miles long and over 40K head of cattle, sheep, and pigs. About the only brought along provisions that his army used was the coffee, sugar, and salt. His bummers did an excellent job of keeping them fed. His men were wearing out their boots and the uniforms were ragged, but other than that, he was well provisioned. He had more provisions at the end than when he started.
Sherman and Davis both admitted that had little to no use for blacks other than putting them in pioneer corps to corduroy the roads. And until they got close to Savannah they didn’t mind using the refugees. Stop his march and dig in? No, don’t think that. Even Davis’ own officers felt that he should have left the bridge up long enough for the refugees to cross, he had more than enough troops and arty to defend it from the handful of CSA Cavalry. Stanton came down to do his “inquiry” and just as in Davis’ murder of MG William Nelson “inquiry” politics squashed it. No USCT were used by Sherman. A lot of his officers did have them a “redbone gal” along for the march.
“.trains in good order..march 15 miles a day as tho nothing…no enemy opposed us…” Sherman’s own words.
Davis was a fighting mustang artillery man, for that; Salute!
This article goes into more detail, and is where the quote “…effectively betrayed by Davis…” came from. On into the article is a linky to an indepth article on Davis and Sherman’s feelings toward blacks in general. CWTI is not noted for having articles that are sympathetic to anything Southern. History Net does try to be semi unbiased. Both articles are well worth the short time it takes to read and learn a bit from. BTW…Davis was a democrat FWIW. An Indiana democrat.

” wagon train of food stuffs 20 miles long and over 40K head of cattle, sheep, and pigs.”
Frankly, I don’t believe it. Got a link or two?
“Angered by food shortages and the fact the slaves were slowing his march, along with mud that bogged down equipment…”
From your link. Sounds to me like Davis had some justification.
“From Sherman’s perspective the most important priority in issuing the directive was military expediency,” says the New Georgia Encyclopedia. “It served as a means of providing for the thousands of black refugees who had been following his army since its invasion of Georgia. He could not afford to support or protect these refugees while on campaign.”
Also from your link.
“…a link or two?” Hundreds of them. My advantage is 65+ years of study/research, a personal library of 100s of books, oral histories heard 1st hand from people that lived thru the time, or their parents had (both of my Grand Mother’s fathers served in the CSA Service). The Official Records of The War of The Rebellion (available for research in most libraries), Battles and Leaders of The Civil War, along with Sherman’s own Memoirs, multiple County Histories that document The March thru their area, Dairies from the women that were there when their homes were burned, food stuffs and personal possessions stolen. Many of those sources are readily available at 2nd hand book stores.
I am in no way condoning or defending the Institution of slavery. It is an abomination that is still being practiced today, in many cases by the same groups that ran the slave trade from the beginning of time. That war was, as I’ve stated many times, started by the politicians of both sides, aided and abetted by the news media of the time. It should have never happened.
“Hundreds of them”
Shouldn’t be too much trouble, then, to provide one or two.
“My advantage is 65+ years of study/research,…………………..”
LOL
Sounds familiar.
As I expected.
Here’s a quick one since you didn’t key in on punching the info into a search bar yourself or taking a trip to the library, on the size of the trains for each wing. IIRC, The ORs are available on line. Now, do I remember every tidbit of info that’s in my memory banks and exactly where it came from? No, I don’t. I also didn’t downvote your comment, I upvoted it to negate the down vote. Not sure what you mean by the “LOL sounds familiar” crack, but if you’re trying to be insulting then go piss up a rope.

Interesting. Didn’t read the whole thing, but I did find this;
Report of Lt. Col. David Remick, Chief Commissary of Subsistence for MG O.O.Howard—
“Our command started with head of cattle —- 1,000 ”
Not quite 40K, and I doubt the other two corps had 38,000 head of cattle.
But, since the whole idea of Sherman’s march was to live off the land and not the Union Army supply system, probably more accurate.
“American Civil War for Kids – Supply Trains”
LOL
It was ‘da “P” that made her do it “‘da-P of ‘da TSD, yo!”, that and I’m sure they’ll also throw some “Victim of Society”‘kind of shit as wel.
Probably a good reason why she is a one term “veteran” and not still serving.
She also had to qualify on fire-fighting on the ship. Seems she learned a lot doing that.
What a discrace to the snipe Engineering Dept and The NDSM Brotherhood which yours truly is a member of … After reading this, the box of Kleenex is my next move. Chief Snipe is turning over in his grave right now, Fuckin A Diddely Bop he is. Boy how these long ago sayings pop up. I wonder if they are still used in the new Navy. Any Squids out there from the new modern Navy use a double rolled neckerchief for Liberty call.
Hack Stone is most proud of his title of Runner Up Employee of The Month for 120 consecutive months. Seems that Corporate was hooking up the Vice President of the proud but humble women owned business that sold outdated and overpriced software to the Federal Government over the guy who has been busting his ass a Director of Media Relations. If it wasn’t for the private “career development training” that Elaine Ricci gave to Hack, he would have hit the bricks and left Bethesda Maryland for better job opportunities, like in Merritt Island, Florida.
Too bad that the prizes awarded for Employee of the Month did not include a mailbox door!
“…sold outdated and overpriced software to the Federal Government”
Just don’t sell government software to the government. Even minority entrepreneurs can collect felony convictions for that.
Did you get your photo up on the wall complete with a bow tie and two-dollar smile?

Guys, I don’t brag, or even talk about awards very often,,, BUT,,, I too,, am a recipient of the coveted NDSM!
Please don’t feel the need to praise me and also, please don’t ask me a lot of questions as to the reasons I was awarded it.
I don’t like to talk about it!
I got my token S.T.A.R. certificate within a month of working for Bass Pro Shops. Haven’t seen anything since and don’t think I will since I like to run my mouth about management and also ignore customers. For what it’s worth, when I’m in customer engagement mode, I’m generally praised by them for my knowledge and helpfulness, but I’m surprised I still have a job, since I’m exceptionally blind and deaf most days. I come in to ensure ATF compliance and put out displays, not to spend hours letting people look at every scope in the display case.
I think this site has motivated me to buy a miniature NDSM for display on my much coveted and rarely awarded Vet Vest ™. The grand old wise men Metallica once stated that Nothing Else Matters and most of us here are part of that Brotherhood, with some being more worthy than others, having earned multiple awards.
On a much darker and more personal note, I think the lack of an NDSM is what led my brother down the path to become a Methsiah. My Dad earned his in the early 1960s and I mine in the 2000s. My brother, Cold Warrior that he was on the frontlines in Berlin Brigade, was denied the opportunity to earn such a coveted and rarely awarded decoration. I’ll cry myself to sleep later thinking about what could have been.
It’s actually sad that your brother was denied. When he actually did more to deserve it than a lot! God Bless him for his service! I hope that he has found peace and comfort!
And thank you for being the “no-nonsense” guy! I usually know what I want when I go shopping, I just need to hold, touch, feel it to be sure!
I was actually in the service (I enlisted in 1987)for years, before being eligible and awarded the NDSM. We, as a group, laugh it it, but it probably means a lot to a person that served, but didn’t get it.
Re. your last. Not really. Like a lot of ‘I was there’ awards, if I wasn’t there and didn’t get it, no problem.
what qualifies as “highly decorated”? Highest I got is a Joint Comm from Iraq in 05-06.
That’s an AWSOME award! That one actually means something
