Russian jets harass US drones in Syria
Three Russian fighter jets harassed American MQ-9 drones over Syria. The U.S. Air Force described the Russian fighter jets as being unsafe and unprofessional. These Russian jets dropped parachute flares in front of the drones, which resulted in their needing to take evasive maneuvers. One of the Russian pilots flew in front of the drones and impacted the drone’s ability to operate safely.
From The Hill:
“Against established norms and protocols, the Russian jets dropped multiple parachute flares in front of the drones, forcing our aircraft to conduct evasive maneuvers,” Grynkewich said.
The Air Force did not specify what kind of mission it was conducting against ISIS targets in Syria. The statement also said that one of the Russian pilots moved in front of one of the drones, which hampered the operator’s ability to safely pilot the drone.
“These events represent another example of unprofessional and unsafe actions by Russian air forces operating in Syria, which threaten the safety of both U.S. and Russian forces,” Grynkewich added. “We urge Russian forces in Syria to cease this reckless behavior and adhere to the standards of behavior expected of a professional air force so we can resume our focus on the enduring defeat of ISIS.”
Gen. Michael Kurilla, commander of U.S. Central Command, told the Senate Armed Services Committee in March that the U.S. has observed a “significant spike” in aggressive Russian flights over Syria. That month, two Russian jets forced a U.S. drone down into the Black Sea.
The official notice by the U.S. Air Force could be read here, The Hill provides an article of the incident here.
It’s bad I’m not sure who to laugh at first.
Better than they’ve done versus the Ukrainians lately.
Witness this bit versus the Iranians:

The Russkies know we have an easily-bribed, corrupt senile eunuch in the White House ad see no consequences for screwing with us or our equipment much like the Jocks giving swirlies to weaker students.
But they aren’t a professional air force, they are the Russian air force. And with the current regime, they know there is no need to fear any sort of retaliation or possible violent response, no response of any kind.
Russian cpap.
This harassment would come to an immediate stop if you added a few F-22s to the situation. The russians would not even see them coming.
Hope those drone operators are OK, those MIGs can really – well, you know the rest
So our response is to send them a tersely worded email.
Pathetic.
Love the illustration. Back in 1980 when when we were up against OPFOR. A/2/503’s company commander picked up one of the vismod Soviet helmets and declared it a “penis helmet.”
It kind of looks like Zelinsky trying to channel his inner Dark Helmet.
May the Schwartz be with him.
Ivan just doing this ’cause…well…he can. Good training exercise and you can bet that every bit of data gleaned from this will be studied 6 ways from Christmas. Now imagine, if you will, the drone operator gets a little antsy and “mistakenly” hits the pickle button? Maybe Ivan gets a little careless and too close having a little skyway fender bender? How about a glitch in the whole system, defective componet(s) causing the bird to launch and the heat seeker homes in on the hot exhaust of a Mig? Ooopsie
Here’s a novel idea to prevent these “encounters” from happening…find some gainful employment for the drones AND the operators keeping an eye on OUR borders…you know…to do what our Military is supposed to do…defend the USA.
That’s ok they still accomplished what they set out to do. One less Dirka Dirka.

Good news: He’s getting 72 virgins.
Bad news: They’re other jihadists.
Do I understand the situation correctly?
The US, operating in Syrian territory without permission of the Syrian government (arguably an act of war) is outraged by the actions of the Russians, who are in Syria at the invitation of the Syrian government, with respect to those uninvited trespassers.
hubris;
Overbearing pride or presumption; arrogance.
Hey man, I’m sick and tired of you bad mouthing my
countryMIC-owned “elected” ‘caretakers’ acting to ensure Big Veggie’s investments in the Syrian broccoli crop yield, and implying that is some how illegal.AUFM says all bad things are now warable and if you don’t love that, fuck you traitor!
(do I really need a /sarc tag on this?)

Actually, yes. Belt and suspenders, eh?
Or maybe I just watch too many youtube weirdos who actually believe weird stuff. Ever hear of “Quantum Syntax Grammar”, or “CORRECT-SENTENCE-STRUCTURES-COMMUNICATION-PARSE-SYNTAX-GRAMMAR-PERFORMANCE”?
There are folks out there who, although legally sane, are what us laymen would call bat-shit crazy.
