DU tolerence for disruption
WASHINGTON — The nastiness of August reached from the nation’s town halls into the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday as President Barack Obama tried to move his health care plan forward.
South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson shouted “You lie!” after Obama had talked about illegal immigrants.

The Republican Heckler was JOE WILSON: “You LIE!”….That was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever witnessed and I hope to hell there are consequences he’ll pay.

My email to my congressman regarding Joe Wilson.
Dear Congressman Dent,I urge you to introduce a motion to censure your colleague Joe Wilson of South Carolina for yelling “that is a lie” during the President’s speech. We can disagree on issues, however I believe that there should be a certain respect for the President of the United States when he gives a speech to the Congress and the nation.
Congressman Wilson’s shameful behavior embarrassed the great chamber and institution for which you serve.
Sincerely,
AllentownJake (taking out my real name for here)
Wait, your real name is not AllentownJake?
Let’s take a stroll down memory lane with some events, and go to DU and try to find the outrage. I would do so, but alas I will be at the VA all day today.
Bush heckled during July 4 speech
(CNN) — It’s The Fourth of July, but not everyone was in a festive mood when President Bush delivered a speech Thursday at Thomas Jefferson’s famous home, Monticello.
The President, who was talking part in Monticello’s annual naturalization ceremony, was interrupted several times by protesters.
“War criminal!” one protester repeatedly yelled as she was escorted out by Secret Service members.
“He has brought fascism to this shore,” another man yelled.
The president did not appear to acknowledge the protesters.

Hypocrisy in politics? Nooooo….
Well CLEARLY Bush was an evil tyrant who destroyed our entire nation and threw us all into concentration camps, so dissent was patriotic and cool back then, but now, that’s all different…today we have wall-to-wall sweetness and light and unicorns and puppy-dogs and manna from heaven wafting down, so if you dissent now, you just hate black people and want them all to die because they have to choose between 24″ DUBs and healthcare, you hateful racist Nazi bigot!
The drooling moonbats are the first to cry “foul!”, when their own tactics are set back upon them. They are the perpetually offended and victimized. They are the beacons of civility (in their own minds). Just ask Bella Pelosi, she’ll tell you that dissent is very patriotic, if you are going against Bush or conservatives, but it’s “mobs” and “un-American”, when going against Obama and the communist thugs.
My moonbat Congresscritter, Carol Shea “Che” Porter, was tossed from a 2004 Bush campaign rally for disrupting it. She also disrupted a number of her predecessor’s (Jeb Bradley) town hall meetings. If she appears anywhere on any resolution or motion of censure, it’ll be the final nail in that hypocritcal bitch’s coffin.
Four legs good, two legs better! Some animals are more equal than others! That was the most disgusting thing I’ve ever witnessed and I hope to hell there are consequences he’ll pay.
I wonder what the DUmmies general reaction was when Code Pink got run out of Miami a few years back. That was cool.
I guess it makes it okay…if the left does it then the right should be able to do it too.
Shouldn’t we expect better from ALL our elected officials?
Whatever: No one is saying it’s ok. What we are pointing out is the hypocrisy of those that are right now whining about Wilson, as though they have never condoned, or done, anything far worse themselves.
We should expect our elected officials to not lie to us. To listen to us. To not talk down to us as though we don’t know what is going on.
Unfortunately, what we should expect and what we get are two entirely different things.
Anyone who has a problem with what Wilson did should structure their disagreement based on role, not just general “respect for the president”. The examples above are highly hypocritical arguments made by political hacks.
The complaint should lie in who is doing the outburst.
As in the difference in a lawmaker (“Representative” Wilson) versus a private citizen. Isn’t the lawmaker subject to different rules and expectations beyond a private citizen who is representing only themselves?
Sorry, Jen, but that “context” falls flat, too. Here’s a link to President Bush being booed by Democrats during his State of the Union Address in 2005.
Mr. Wilson is apparently the only Congress Critter who understand that to stop a bully, you need to face him down.
POTUS used his bully pulpit to berate his opponents, to lie through his teeth and to call those who offered proof of the drawbacks of his plan “liars!”. The threatened anyone who stands in his way.
I’d say Mr. Wilson deserves an immense deal more of respect than POTUS and his entire administration. At least ONE politician was speaking the truth that night.
“I’d say Mr. Wilson deserves an immense deal more of respect”
Then maybe you should call him a pussy today…since he was forced to apologize.
Love the Animal Farm quote, Sniper.
“No one believes more firmly than Comrade Napoleon that all animals are equal. He would be only too happy to let you make your decisions for yourselves. But sometimes you might make the wrong decisions, comrades, and then where should we be?”
Whatever, whatever. You just go on worshipping the Dear Leader, swallow his lies. “Shouldn’t we expect better from ALL our elected officials”? Maybe we should, starting with the President? He could drop the lies that he spouts, then no one would have to call him on it? But then, I’m sure you didn’t really mean “ALL”.
UpNorth….did I say I was a Obama supporter…no I don’t think I did.
See, what you don’t get is that some of us actually don’t play the partisan politics and we also don’t label ourselves as left or right, conservative or liberal. The only label I like to use is American.
Weighing in late; I don’t think that Joe Wilson’s retort was anymore out of place than the lie that prompted it. I think it is despicable that a national leader would use that forum to dispense with his lies, or any damned forum for that matter. Joe Wilson got my donation. At least someone in the Republican party has the balls to call him on this. That Joe Wilson was condemned by even members of his own party, even one who went up against Obummer; shows just how far this party has strayed from its mission of being for the people and for lesser government.
Jen said: “Anyone who has a problem with what Wilson did should structure their disagreement based on role”. How about structuring disagreement, or agreement, on what prompted the retort? As the lies were being spewed, one after the other, the real Americans watching at home were saying: “YOU LIE!”.

Actually, nobody forced him to apologize. He did it on his own and the President has already accepted it. Next.

Oh really? You may want to go read every single news source out there that says that Wilson apologized after the leaders of his party requested that he apologize. Every news source, left and right said that. Too many to actually cite for you here. But you can go look it up. Next.
