TAH on the airwaves

| September 9, 2009

I got a call this morning from the BBC asking for an interview on the New York Times journalist who was rescued by British commandos this morning. So if you’re listening to their World Have Your Say radio program at about 1:30 Eastern Time, I’ll be locked in a debate with a chap from The Guardian on the subject Should soldiers risk their lives for journalists?

Guess which side I’m on.

Added: I guess Uncle Jimbo will be on the program, too. Listen here live at about 1:30 Eastern.

Just A Grunt

Jonn,
The occupation doesn’t matter. The same effort would be extended to a plumber or a housewife. That may seem foreign to them since they want to view things as an us versus them, but that isn’t it at all.

I agree with JAG, we don’t save reporters, we save people. The fact that it is reporters sometimes makes the job shittier, but we don’t engage in that type of favoritism, unlike the media elite.

Army Sergeant

Wait, yeah, what part of it exactly is in dispute? Soldiers save American citizens, including journalists. Are they actually arguing we leave them to die?

Alex

I got an email asking to participate in the program as well, but we’ll see if they want to accomodate my school schedule – I have a class at 2:25 Eastern.

Alex

Scratch that, made it too late. That’s what I get for not skipping my computing class.

Alex

They emailed me back saying it was a bit too late. Ah well. I suppose it’s time to crawl back in my hole labled in case of dissenting military opinion, break glass.

Be sure to post the podcast when its available!
