HOUSTON — A dayslong hostage situation ended Thursday with one person dead in a shooting in north Houston, according to the FBI.The FBI said a rescue operation took place at a motel off Beltway 8 in the Greenspoint area.
FBI officials said the incident was the result of an operation that spanned several days. According to the Associated Press, the FBI was working with the Waller County Sheriff’s Office to figure out how to save three migrants who had been kidnapped in a neighboring county.
According to the AP, the migrants were kidnapped after they were stopped by an unknown group of people on I-10 in Waller County on March 18. They were then forced into another vehicle and taken away. Officials said someone involved called 911 and told the Waller County Sheriff’s Office about the kidnappings, according to the AP report. WCSO officials contacted the FBI to get them involved in the case.
The AP reported that the kidnappers demanded money from the family of at least one of the migrants. They said the family paid some money, but the kidnappers asked for more. An AP source said that during negotiations, the kidnappers sent law enforcement videos of them beating one of the hostages.
FBI agent Jim Smith said their investigation began on March 21 when they were asked to help the WCSO.
Around 4:30 a.m. Thursday, an FBI rescue team was working to get the hostages out of the motel when shots were fired, Smith said.

Federal court strikes down Trump-era bump stock ban
Former President Trump ordered bump stocks to be regulated after 2017 shooting massacre in Las Vegas, where 58 people were killed
By Chris Pandolfo | Fox News
A federal appeals court on Friday struck down the Trump-era ban on bump stocks, a firearm accessory that enables a semi-automatic gun to shoot at an increased rate of fire.In a 13-3 decision, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans held that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), acting under “tremendous” public pressure, short-circuited the legislative process by approving a rule to define bump stocks as “machineguns,” which are heavily restricted. The court said ATF did not have the authority from Congress to do so.
The bump stock ban, opposed by gun rights activists, was enacted by the Trump administration after the 2017 massacre in Las Vegas, where a gunman slaughtered 58 people at a music festival. The shooter used rifles equipped with bump stocks, allowing him to fire more than 1,000 rounds in 11 minutes at a crowd of 22,000 people.

Belt loops and rubber bands are legal once again. Odd there’s been no resolution of that insane act in Las Vagas.
That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants.

Resolution how? The shooter was fully aired out that night.
Yep that was my understanding as well. Pity he refused to answer questions while dead.

Greenspoint Mall…aka Gunspoint to locals
The 10/22 is my most favored rifle, very accurate, reasonably priced and relatively cheap ammunition and loads of accessories to customize it into many designs.
It’s good but why no Nylon 66?
I had one of them also! Excellent plinker. I guess I got that one in the early 70s.

Pistols Braces Legal Again
The Supreme Court has struck down the Biden era ban on pistol braces. The innocuous pistol brace which only failing was to allow the shooter to shoot large pistols more accurately is once again legal……..
Link?
I thought the litigation is still underway, heading for SCOTUS.
It’s prescient. Notice the date?
