Short take Monday – Mikey, Lindh, NIH

| January 30, 2023

The US Merchant Marine Academy has covered up a large painting of Jesus walking on water after a complaint from Mikey Weinstein’s Military Religious Freedom Foundation.

Weinstein claimed the painting of Jesus “clearly projects the sectarian supremacy of Jesus Christ in some sort of obvious ocean rescue scenario for what appears to be distressed mariners in an open boat.”

Weinstein likened the prominent placement of the Jesus painting to the USMMA “screaming that ‘Jesus Christ is the only approved solution to all of life’s difficulties!’”

“We’re not seeing Allah, Buddha, Vishnu, Satan or any of the other multitudes of the deities of other faith or non-faith traditions being even remotely shown there under similar circumstances,” he added.

Has anyone ever heard of Mikey protesting any other religion’s representations? Just curious.  Have to give the Academy some credit, they said the painting was too big to be moved and sited elsewhere but instead of destroying it, they hung the curtain so that those who wanted to look at the painting, could.

In Virginia, a man convicted of supporting the Taliban ten years ago has been filmed by the FBI meeting with a familiar name, John Walker Lindh, on three separate occasions totaling about three hours. Oh yeah, that is a probation violation for BOTH of them.

According to court documents, the FBI photographed Ali Shukri Amin meeting with Lindh on three different occasions in 2021 for about three hours. The document does not state where the meetings occurred. The meetings violate a condition of Amin’s supervised release, which bars him from meeting with known extremists, prosecutors said.

The meetings also could have constituted a violation of Lindh’s supervised release when they occurred, but now Lindh is no longer subject to supervision, as his term of supervised release expired last year.

Note that Lindh, while off supervision, is still barred from meeting with extremists. Extremist?

The court documents show, though, that authorities had reason to be concerned about Amin beyond his meetings with Lindh. Amin, who lives in Dumfries, is also accused of corresponding online with a British individual described as a “known extremist” until that person was arrested in February 2022 by British authorities.

In his conversations with the British individual, authorities say Amin provided guidance related to the teachings of two Islamic preachers considered extremists by the FBI, according to the court document.

The document also accuses Amin of using a virtual private network to conceal his online activity and evade the supervision of his parole officer.AP via Yahoo

Remember that funding to Wuhan which was strictly supervised and was never used for gain-of-function research? A new report drags the National Institute of Health (NIH) over the coals for total failure to monitor what the Chicoms were doing with our money:

The report is evidence of “major failures in past NIH oversight of high-risk research on enhanced potential pandemic pathogens,” Rutgers molecular biologist Richard Ebright told Yahoo News in an email.

Issued by the inspector general of the federal Department of Health and Human Services, the new report says nothing about the origins of the coronavirus.

They do say the funding, from NIH through Eco-Health Alliance,  was prior to the outbreak of Covid… which makes sense, since if it took place AFTER it wouldn’t have affected Covid, right?

But it does note that the American organization in question, the EcoHealth Alliance, should have been more rigorously scrutinized by federal officials regarding assurances that its partner lab in Wuhan was not using U.S. funds to conduct gain-of-function research, which boosts viruses to study how they might evolve in nature.

“The entire picture starts to look extremely disconcerting,” mathematical biologist Alex Washburne told Yahoo News. He said that a project on coronaviruses originating in bats, for which the EcoHealth Alliance had given a grant to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, “was clearly gain-of-function research.”

For anyone who hasn’t paid attention, “gain-of-function” refers to making a disease more communicable – or more lethal.

Politics aside, Wednesday’s report raises important questions about how federal funds are monitored when they flow to foreign governments and organizations. Though the context is different, similar questions have been asked about the billions of dollars in U.S. military and civilian support to Ukraine.  Yahoo

Much more to read in the article, and it ain’t pretty. Have to wonder what involvement the head of the NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases was during this alleged lack of oversight. Let’s see, what was his name? Seems to me, it rhymed with Fauci.

“…of Jesus Christ in some sort of obvious ocean rescue scenario for what appears to be distressed mariners in an open boat.””

What an illiterate shithead.

Believe or not believe in a Supreme Being, that is your right and your choice as to which one. It is not your right to force your belief or non belief on others. That Former Carpenter taught Love and Forgiveness, but when angered could break out a whip and start turning over tables. And His Daddy? You really don’t want to piss Him off. Fire and brimstone can ruin your day.

Best way to keep spies/domestic enemies/terrorists from meeting up with one another is to hang the guilty. Same thing goes for people who release super bugs on the world. There will come a reckoning. Anyone that doesn’t think the destruction of America and the control of We, The People, isn’t a goal just flat out hasn’t been paying attention.

Mikey will never say a word about Islam or Muslims because he is a coward and a hypocrite.

Are there a lot of non-Christian deities and prophets on display in US Government buildings? I’ve never seen an image of Mohammed in any US Government Building growing up, never saw the star of David in any growing up, never saw Lord Ganesh being trotted out as a deity in a courtroom…

Seen the Bible being used as some sort of obligatory statement piece, as if swearing on it made liars suddenly become honest in a court of law…

Sometimes listening to Christians whine about “being attacked” it seems more likely that Christians have been so accustomed for so long to having their preferred imagery every where in society that some folks today finding it less preferable feels like an attack…when in reality it’s simply people suggesting that we should have as many Christian images in our public buildings as we have Hindu images….

It does make for some entertaining reading though.

Skivvy Stacker

Well, of COURSE you won’t see an image of Mohammad; that would be blasphemous to the Muslims, and they would have burned down all those buildings. The Magen David wasn’t recognized as a generally accepted symbol of Judaism until the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, so I don’t imagine you’d have seen them in ANY buildings that were constructed in the mid-1700s. And as far as Ganesh is concerned, there were not a lot of East Indians in the pantheon of founders of this nation, and the story of Ganesh reads more like myth; and you won’t find images of Zeus, Hera, or any of the other Greek and Roman gods being trotted out, or their names being invoked during ceremonial functions.
And while I have Ashkenazic roots, and get tired of the “Jesus is the only way” message, I don’t mind the sentimentality behind the Jesus image in these paintings.

Not on buildings so much, but to some, a much more important place.

I beg to differ. From the 1/15/2015 Wall Street Journal article, Muhammad Sculpture Inside Supreme Court a Gesture of Goodwill.https://www.wsj.com/articles/BL-LB-50349

“Perched above the press seating area inside the U.S. Supreme Court chamber is a marble image of Prophet Muhammad.
Sculpted in a frieze, the Muhammad statue carries a sword and the Quran and stands in the company of more than a dozen other “great lawgivers of history.” They range from Moses to Confucius to Napoleon to John Marshall, some of whom appear in an accompanying frieze along the south side of the room.”

Wish I knew how to post pictures and such here!

Doesn’t really count, it has been there for 88 years. There have been attempts to remove it.

Remember Jefferson’s words….

“And the day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the supreme being as his father in the womb of a virgin will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter. But we may hope that the dawn of reason and freedom of thought in these United States will do away all this artificial scaffolding…
{Letter to John Adams, April 11, 1823}
He was perhaps aware of the notion that his God might not last into the future….
The entire letter is an interesting read for those so inclined.

My point here is not to offend but to suggest that the “attacks” on Christianity are little more than a recognition that these United States are not solely occupied by Christians and our Constitution was created to protect those non-Christians from an overwhelming governmental endorsement of Christianity…Thus the first amendment…

Hey Mikey Whinestein, KUTOMBA WEWE!

JustALurkinAround

I am not religious or spiritual at all. When younger I had animosity toward those who were religious. Then I got over myself when I realized I’d rather be around people who ARE NOT like me at that time; sneering and smug.

Now I view religion as a guide for many people that helps them in countless ways. I’ve never met a religious nut, unless you count the Pit Preacher at UNC Chapel Hill in 98-00.

Anyway, it seems evident to me that Mikey is filing these suits to punish something and people he doesn’t like. See also bakers sued for not making cakes, etc…

This Mikey guy is the ultimate American. Obese, ignorant and litigious.

Neither Bhudda or Satan make any claims to be a God and Bhudda explicitly rejects God hood, although he was reported to walk on water. Bhudda also felt that was unimportant.

Krishna is the closest God to Jesus in Hindu, although Vishnu, as the great protector, would work in that context. Krishna is more about compassion love and forgiveness.

As others have noted, portraits of Allah would result in actual physical attacks and murders. Certainly more has done for less.
