Columnist calls for Atheist backlash in response to SCOTUS rulings
Kate Cohen, Washington Post columnist, said that America needs to embrace atheism. She insisted that with the overturning of Roe v Wade, the Supreme Court will not protect Americans from those who argue that God gets to set the laws for everyone. To address this issue, Cohen argued that people should push back against the “Religious Right”. They could do this as atheists.
From Fox News:
After quickly floating and scrapping the idea that we can use “another Certified Religious Group to fight back” against the Christian right. She proposed atheism, “We shouldn’t have to use one God to fight another God. We shouldn’t have to be religious to be free. What we need — and what our Constitution conveniently provides for — is freedom from all gods.”
She continued, “So how do we get there, living, as we do, in an unusually religious nation? Maybe the atheists can help. According to a recent Gallup poll, we’re already getting closer: Only 81 percent of Americans say they believe in God — a new low. It was 87 percent just five years ago,” she wrote.
Motivated by this stat, she exclaimed, “Backlash! Great idea! Atheists: Let’s lash back against Christian nationalism — and quick.” To encourage potential or discerning atheists, Cohen wrote, “Whether you come to nonbelief from disgust with organized religion, knowledge of evolutionary biology or because the whole thing just seems made up. Ask yourself: Do I believe there’s a Supreme Being in charge of the universe? No? Done.”
“Now on to our backlash,” Cohen proclaimed.
Mocking conservatives who she claimed, “work up a good backlash using bogeymen and lies,” she stated, “for our backlash, we don’t need to make anything up. To demonstrate the looming threat of theocracy, we can (as atheists tend to do) stick to the evidence: actual laws passed, platforms approved, and rulings handed down.”
Cohen then warned that “Legislators around the country are passing laws that will force women to bear children they don’t want because, in Gov. Greg Abbott’s words, ‘Our Creator endowed us with the right to life.'”

Category: Liberals suck, SCOTUS, Society
In every sector of society we have turned away from God and it shows. Coruption is rampant, the populace no longer respects the police and children are molested or even worse aborted. We’ve tried your secular ways and the country is going to shit. Fuck Off asshole.
Yeah, riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.
Atheism is demonstrably irrational – but that won’t stop folks like Lars and Kate Cohen from embracing it.
(Incidentally, “Cohen” in Jewish circles is a family name for those of one of the Aaronic Priesthood, who are required to follow the religious laws more rigidly.)
History is replete with examples to an atheistic people – for there is nothing in atheism to give value to human life, wherefore only those with guns and power are “valuable”, the others die.
God is not mocked. What a man sows, that shall he also reap. A woman as well, if one is dense enough to not realize that the first term is inclusive of all human kind.
She wishes to sow the wind. She shall reap the whirlwind.
Folk who think God, morals and responsibility are oppressive will miss civilization when it’s gone (and, unfortunately, not one moment sooner).
Yes, they will miss it, right up to the point where they are murdered and eaten, cuz if the progs have their way, protein will be in short supply. Watch “The Road” for a portrayal of what life will be like without civilization.
Soylent Green is people.
What comes with the Soylent Green MRE? Gorilla cookies and peanut butter?
Bolsheviks tried this. Didn’t work out as well as they thought.
Believe or not believe as you wish makes no never mind to me there, skrunt. Will tell you this tho. Hell ain’t full yet and there are plenty of us that are willing to send you baby murdering trash straight to it. And BTW, the Constitution neither promotes nor denies your right to any Religious Belief…or lack thereof. By the same token, it doesn’t give you any right to dictate to me or anyone else what to believe or not. Maybe there is or isn’t a physical Heaven or Hell, but there damn sure is a Karmic place. To me, Hell would be stuck with someone like you for all eternity.
Full disclosure. 4 years ago I was clinically dead for several minutes. My only recollections of the event was a feeling of a Peace that Passeth all understanding, a voice saying, “not your time yet my son”, and an EMT that said “Welcome back”. Draw your own conclusions.
As far as those militant atheists go, if they’re right and there’s nothing after this life ends, oh well, no big deal. If they’re wrong, though, eternity is going to suck.
She thinks Abbot coined a divine right to life… obviously she needs to reread the Declaration.
Classy. Dumb ass bitch.
What do you call a future Conservative (and I am not – I lean left on many things – I am a Moderate, per se)?
A Liberal who has yet to be mugged.
Check this out. Things are getting waaayyy outta hand. Ridiculous. Absolutedly Ridiculous:
“Army Suspends Retired Three-Star General Over Tweet Sent To Jill Biden”
“Retired Lt. Gen. Gary Volesky Congratulated Jill Biden On Finally Learning ‘What A Woman Is’ ”
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/army-suspends-retired-three-star-general-tweet-sent-jill-biden
“A retired three-star general of the U.S. Army has been suspended from a “mentor” position after sarcastically congratulating first lady Jill Biden for learning “what a woman is.”
“LTGen. Theodore Martin, commanding general of the Combined Arms Center, has suspended retired Lt. Gen. Gary Volesky from performing duties as a Highly Qualified Expert — Senior Mentor pending the outcome of the commander’s inquiry,” the Army told Fox News.”
Volesky mocked Jill Biden on social media in June, responding to a tweet about the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.”
“For nearly 50 years, women have had the right to make our own decisions about our bodies. Today, that right was stolen from us,” Jill Biden wrote in the aftermath of the Dobbs case. “And while we may be devastated by this injustice, we will not be silent. We will not sit back as the progress we have already won slips away.”
“Glad to see you finally know what a woman is,” Volesky replied.”
“The tweet has since been deleted.”
“Volesky is not serving as an active member of the military and is a civilian employee.”
Excuse the language, but, for the above Fox News article…
In My Seldom Humble Opinion Gen Volesky and his brother leaders needs to be recalled to replace the queer “leaders” currently leading our military into oblivion.
Testify! *me2
Look, I am not an atheist, nor do I believe in a God, heaven, and hell. Atheists are typically antagonistic toward the idea of a God or religion.
I personally equate atheism as to someone who is against Santa or the Easter Bunny. It is something too silly to be actively hostile to. This is what I think.
However, the God-fearing, religious people I know are exceptional. And given a choice, I’d prefer the live amongst the believers than the overtly hostile.
I hope this is understood the way I mean it by the group. I promise al of you it was not meant in an disparaging way. I love this site.
Prepared to receive rounds, if necessary.
I meant all, not al.

No incoming rounds from the GB Compound.
No rounds fired from the A Proud Infidel®™ Compound either. I like to live with others treating them with respect until they give me a good reason not to!
These people just can’t stop condescending, can they? Even by her numbers, she’s saying her infinite knowledge is superior to the beliefs of 90% of Americans.
For people that claim to support democracy, they sure do want to live in a tyranny of the minority.
Proselytizing Atheists, bless their hearts!
