California police shoot, wound man with paintball gun
LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) — A Southern California police officer shot and wounded a 28-year-old man early Sunday morning after he allegedly pointed a firearm — which turned out to be a paintball gun — toward him, authorities said.
The man, whose name was not immediately made public, is expected to survive gunshot wounds to his lower body, Long Beach police said. Authorities recovered a paintball pistol at the scene.
The officer’s name also was not released in the hours after the incident.
Investigators are reviewing body camera footage from the shooting. The officers were called to the scene around 1 a.m. Sunday after gunshots were heard in the area.

Deputy shoots knife-wielding man during disturbance in Robeson County
by: Dennis Bright
ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WBTW) — An investigation is underway in Robeson County after a sheriff’s deputy shot a man who came toward him with a knife while the officer was talking to him as part of an investigation into a domestic disturbance between family members, authorities said.According to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, Ryan Austin Brooks, 30, of Maxton, was taken to an undisclosed hospital after the shooting and was being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The deputy, who wasn’t hurt in the incident, has been placed on administrative leave, the sheriff’s office said.
The shooting happened about 11:25 p.m. at a home in the 100 block of Landis Drive in Maxton where deputies had responded twice earlier in the evening “in relation to a domestic and assault call,” the sheriff’s office said.
After arriving at the scene, the sheriff’s office said a deputy encountered Brooks who had a knife. After trying to talk to Brooks for several minutes to calm him down, the sheriff’s office said he “aggressively approached the officer with the knife and was shot.”

“California police shoot, wound man with paintball gun”
I knew that the Californiacs were softening their police force, but “paintball guns”?
Actually not surprising.
Next thing you know they will be issuing Nerf guns.
As they move toward “Pointy Fingers”.
We just copy, paste, post, FC. Don’t write ’em, don’t edit ’em. Lots of head shaking happens during the reading of what passes for journalism these days.
As ‘Ed has said many a time, “Stupidity should be painful”. Hopefully, the wound to the lower body took out “paint gun” boy’s ability to reproduce.
Another knife to a gunfight. *sigh*
The .50 caliber, double triggered, percussion cap Hawken I had is hanging over the Fire Place at Brother J___’s in the Great Plains of South Western South Dakota…along with the matched pair of boot pistols. Seemed like the appropriate place for them to be.
Nice little Hawkins there. I need to add one to my collection someday.
The Moral of Our FGS today, children, never point any gun, even a toy gun, at anybody, and never point pokey/slicey things at anyone either.
Especially if the other guy is a LEO or CCW. Bad (to you) things come of that, and you may not ever get a chance to learn from the mistake.
The Secondary Moral of our FGS is to use proper grammar at all times when writing.
I’ll just paint the guy with the paint ball gun as stupid or maybe an attempted suicide by Cop?????
Once again……knife…….gun fight……no no…..what’s so difficult to understand?
Yeah, the “Not a Gun” gag will just get stale if all I have to post are knives.
